Great bakery. Save the pomp and circumstance and stop by and grab a loaf of fresh bread, a slice of cake, perhaps a turn over or some cookies. Above all else, do not forget the bread!

My BF gets an iced streusel fruit (apple and strawberry?) danish cake ring from this bakery from his boss every birthday. I thought she baked it herself, but this year a ‘Star Bakery — Since 1915′ sticker was stuck to the box. I am extremely happy to know this freakin’ AMAZING honking piece of pastry can be purchased at any given time. I pretty much ate the whole damned thing by myself within 3 straight days. Just finished the very last piece tonight… and that’s that I was trying to take it SLOW and make it last.
If you need a host/​hostess gift, pick up one of these danish rings. You’ll be invited back again and again.

This classic bakery is attached to the Plaza Deli (but has separate ownership). Their pastries are baked at the main store in Oak Park. I love their streusel!!!
