Extended stay here while I looked for permanent housing, sure it’s not the best area, but it’s well worth it. Rooms are a bit small, but all newer furnishings, as well as all-granite bathrooms. Booked through orbitz at a great rate, couldn’t beat it anywhere else I looked, kept coming back til my search ended.

Sketchy place. From the outside, the hotel appeared run down and shabby with cheap signs and bright neon lights and dirty windows. The vending machines were a little strange… selling everything from hamburgers to cigarettes to condoms. We had to wait several minutes for someone to help us at the front desk, and we noticed that the side door was wide open– a HUGE security concern! The inside was quite nice, which is the only reason why this hotel gets a second star. The bathroom was nice– granite countertop and the most wonderful shower. There was also a microwave, fridge, and clothing steamer in the room, although the steamer didn’t work. The beds were the most comfortable I’ve ever experienced and the pillows were very plush. However, the curtains of the room didn’t cover a whole window– so it was bright at night in the room and it was also another security concern to us. The breakfast was very mediocre. I’ve been to cheaper hotels with better breakfasts. Despite the comfy beds and showers, I don’t think I’ll be coming back. The fear of being robbed/murdered in the middle of the night far outweighed the comfort of beds and bathrooms!

I have read the reviews for this hotel which are over a year old so I am not sure what has changed at this hotel between now and then. What I can tell you is that my experience at this hotel was much better than those already written. This hotel is nothing too special to look at from the outside. However the room I stayed in was very decent and well worth the price paid. The room was very clean, nicely decorated. Nicely remodeled bathroom. The bed was plush, the TV a decent size with HBO, high speed wireless Internet. The staff at the counter had our large group to deal with and did a great job of getting everyone squared away promptly. The breakfast was mediocre but not horrible by my account, including coffee, juices, bagels, toast, cereal, etc. Marvin(yes that one) was on hand and very accommodating to our group. I would stay there again if in town.

crowbar marks on hotel room door+ non smoking room that smells like an ashtray+ Security card reader on outside main hallway ripped off wall and hanging by wires+ cop slowly patrolling the parking lot within 5 minutes of arrival+rude staff that wont refund money for rooms that we decided to not stay in and never occupied= the worst hotel experience ever. if we could have got past all the above the bedding looked nice.

Wow… this place is so sketchy. So we were looking last minute for a room and this place looked decent on orbitz. We check in, the lobby looks pretty interesting, everything seems cool. We get to our rooms in the back corner of the hotel complex and we notice a cop car cruising the parking lot, first red flag. We get to the glass«security» door that led to the hallway for our rooms and the room card scanner thing was broken off the door and it didn’t even lock, second red flag. We get to our rooms and notice huge gouges in the doors where they had been broken into with crowbars and the security latches on the inside were broken… ok fuck this. Rooms looked kinda nice but we weren’t up for getting robbed in the middle of the night. The only other rooms they had were smoking, which we didn’t want and they refused to refund us. Beware of this place if you have any concern for your safety, go to Red Roof Inn next door, we did! It was cheaper and way less sketchy.

So I ran into a rough situation, and had to stay at Marvin Garden for a night. Pretty interesting experience, to say the least. Just the name itself, makes me laugh. This is definitely one of those places you look up at the last minute. It’s set up like the hotels you see in the movies. The exterior is just not that fabulous. However, inside the room wasn’t bad at all. In fact, it was comfortable and cleaner than some hotels I have been to in Miami. The prices aren’t bad either. So if you are in the Southfield area, I would at least call and compare.
