To say we love this place is an understatement. The food is always spot on tasty and the wait staff is friendly/fast/entertaining. It is our favorite place to eat. I’m super picky about my fish/seafood and have never had one issue with their quality of it or how it is cook.

Just finished an early lunch on crabs and oysters. OMG! Super fresh oysters! They taste like if I was on the beach. Really nice atmosphere and chillaxin’ feel to the restaurant. I’m beginning to like being in SP!

We have eaten at the Full Moon Oyster Bar on a few occasions. The latest visit was one of the best as far as our satisfaction with the food is concerned. On Monday, there are oyster specials that are noteworthy. Oysters were .80 cents per oyster accompanied by potatoes and slaw. Chargrilled oysters similar to Oysters Rockefeller were $ 1.25 per oysters. The Louisiana oysters(the .80 Cent version) were plump, juicy and steamed perfectly. The crab cake was apparently good as well. My dining companion liked the addition of vegetables into the mix although the crab cakes do not compare with Sarah K’s Gourmet in Destin, Florida although they are much more expensive. The wine list is not extensive but more than adequate. For beer drinkers, there are plenty of choices. We selected a glass of Simi Cabernet Saugvignon($ 11.00 per glass) for each. The décor reflects a nautical theme. It is eclectic but entertaining. Servers wore t-shirts with double entendre wording on the back. All in all, a good experience for an informal, down home type of restaurant with great oysters.

Went there with a small group of friends last night and I must say it was my first and last visit there. First let’s say the service is terrible. We had to ask numerous times for a drinks to be refilled or replaced. Our food came out in spurts. Some members of our group had gotten their food and eaten it while others were still waiting. 1 member of our group asked for tartar sauce 4 different times and when it finally arrived it had been 40 minutes since she had asked for it. Must I say but she had already eaten her food before it arrived. Another member of our group never even got his food and he asked our waitress 3 different times where his food was. Personally I ordered a full order of steamed oysters and when they arrived there was 8 ice cold and raw oysters. I asked my waitress to replace the order and it took an hour to get a replacement but even then they were the worst oysters I had ever eaten. Don’t waist your time going here. You will be better off eating at cook out.

We had the King Crab legs and the alligator cheesecake. Delicious. We will be going there on a regular basis. The whole place is set up like a giant bar winding its way through the room. Loved it.

Absolutely DELICIOUS crab dip that comes with a full loaf of bread. Friendly staff, excellent management. Local musicians will often play here on the weekends. Monday is a great night to go if you enjoy oysters they have a great special! My friends and I all go every Monday night and it’s always a wonderful way to start the week.

Not sure what’s happened here but it’s clearly gone downhill. Tonight everything we ordered, from the crab dip to the entrees was all just… off. The crab dip appetizer had an overwhelming horseradish taste. A little horseradish goes a long way, and this was a lot. The sides that come out first, coleslaw & potatoes, were both terrible. I was too scared to eat the slaw as it had a very soured taste as if it had gone bad a few days ago. The potatoes were mushy and tasted like yesterday’s as well The sea scallops I ordered came on a tiny plate with nothing else. Presentation? Zero. No vegetable like everyone else got, no bread, just scallops with lots of sand in every bite. The steak tasted like liver according to my husband. The mashed potatoes had a weird barnyard sort of taste. Like how poop smells(I know, I’m sorry) The girl behind the bar THREW dishes into a tub on the floor during our entire meal. She was so loud we jumped every time she threw them. Kinda like your mom doing the dishes while her kids sit on the sofa… pissed. Sadly I probably won’t ever go back. It’s not the same.

Fantastic place with great service and wonderfully fresh seafood! One of my favorite things to get is the pound and a half of King Crab Legs. They are perfectly delicious and come with a side of coleslaw and these really great, buttery roasted potatoes. The crab bisque is a MUSTHAVE! It is a bit spicy and so delicious! I crave this soup constantly. The buffalo shrimp is also really good. I’m not a huge oyster fan, but the baked oysters with garlic were pretty darn good! Another great app is the bacon wrapped scallops. Cooked perfectly every time! There is pretty much only bar seating with tall chairs. There are a couple tables randomly in there and outdoor seating. They do have these nifty little seats for toddlers that hook onto the tall chairs which is quite nice.

I haven’t been to Southern Pines in a few years. I was delighted to find this place right across the street from my hotel. I loved the selection of fresh seafood and local beer. I ordered the grilled scallops, which were perfectly cooked. I also had the fish chowder. I liked the lay out of the restaurant, one huge rectangle bar style seating, however I would imagine with larger crowds(more than 4) it would be difficult finding seat next to eat other, as they seem to be busy. They do have an outdoor section but it was closed due to it being cold/slightly raining or under staffed, I don’t know(a few people came in asking to sit outside). I was ok sitting inside warm and dry. I highly recommend stopping in for food or a beer!

Good atmosphere but that’s about it. This place is located in a strip mall and mostly bar stool seating. Obviously not recommended for small children. The service is nothing but amazing and the reason for 3 stars not 1. The food was expensive and ok. We traveling up and down east and west coasts eating seafood because where we live, ohio, we don’t get good options. But, I almost prefer seafood shipped inland than to eat here again. Each meal comes with cole slaw and potatos.(All served by the bartenders in containers that look like they are left open all day, nasty) The lowest price item comes at $ 18 and not worth the price. The salmon was under cooked with a cold teriyaki sauce slapped on top with half cooked asparagus next to it. I got the Jamaican me crazy special and nothing Jamaican about it. It was beef and shrimp doused in A1 sauce over rice. Omg, really, not kidding about the flavor. The best part of this stay was the key Lime Martini. It was a dessert in a cup. Way to go bartender! Will not be back. Sorry, to many options in Pinehurst to visit and my craving of seafood can wait until I visit my family in Florida.

A little odd when you first walk in. A sign says check in with the hostess but the bar takes up the whole inside. Confusing at least. Friendly bartender eventually directed us. We decided to sit outside. Very nice atmosphere outside. Ordered the fish taco Tuesday special, after a little work the tacos came back the way we wanted them and they were delicious. Key lime pie for dessert, as an apology for the initial problem, was excellent. For a new place trying to get established it is making great food and has super friendly staff. Need to work out some kinks still though.

Exactly what we wanted. Snow crab was cooked to perfection… the calamari was sweet, spicy, and crispy… scallops had great flavor(wished they had a little more sear on them though). The staff was attentive and quick even though the place was busy. We ended the meal with a slice of the Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake. It was a good choice after the seafood(very rich and sweet) but nothing spectacular. We will definitely be back!

I’d like to give this place 4 stars but I’m not able to. Their food is positively 5 stars, they’ve got a large menu and great chefs/recipes. I’ve been here a few times and service always seems to be lacking around 2 to 3 stars. I get seated pretty quickly and usually I can order fairly quickly, but I’ve seen it and experienced it: the«it» being that service dead zone. I’m not sure where it stems from, but to me it’s either management trying to skimp with understaffing or just a problem with organization since there are no tables; it’s one big bar, so not everyone can get served equally… I ordered a shaken drink(which always seem to be weak sauce…) and after my food came out I was literally forgotten… I finished my drink halfway through my food; I guess I was supposed to dehydrate and choke it down… And I’m ready to leave so I can get a Pepsi at the gas station or something. I asked for the check and got confirmation(Check request received) but like I waited and waited while everyone else got served, a different service person asked if I was all set and brought my check… But the check was wrong so back into Limbo I went… It made me wonder if my check has been wrong in the past… Like dang… And I think out of all the times I’ve been there I’ve gotten the name of only one server and only once has my name been asked for… It just makes things more personal, like, «Oh, I better check on Jerry, make sure he’s not dehydrating.» tl;dr: Food is fantastic. Watch out for service dead zones cause if you fall in one it’s bad. Impersonal service. Mixed drinks are weak sauce, my granny hits harder…

This place definitely has a lot of character and if you go for dinner, be ready for a lively experience. I suggest getting there early if you have more than two people in your party so you can grab a corner at the bar. I really love the set up of this restaurant because all of the seats are perimetered around the central shucking station, contributing to the fun atmosphere. Both times I’ve been here though, waiters have forgotten orders, which is unacceptable especially when it’s an entrée order, but I have to say that the seafood is exceptional and priced just right. Also if you love spicy, try to quarter moon challenge!
