Never been as disappointed in the conduct of a store as I was with this one. This will be long.
Here’s the story. I go into the store 3 or 4 days before the time of my main complaint and see a beer(Sixpoint Brewing Company’s 4Beans) that I enjoy displayed near the register with a sign that says it is on sale for $ 8.99. I’m with a friend who I point the sign out to. He says he doesn’t like that beer so we grab something else but I make a mental note to get a pack or two next time I come in.
Fast forward a couple of days. I’m on my way to work and decide to stop in and grab a couple packs for the party I was going to that night(I’m a waiter and work nights so I wouldn’t be able to get it after work). I go in and buy two packs. The cashier reads my total and I notice that it sounds high since the beer is on sale. I ask him and he says that it’s just bottle deposit and tax. I take his word for it and walk out. I read my receipt at a stoplight up the road and realize that I’d been charged $ 12.99 for each of the two packs instead of $ 8.99. «No problem», I think. I’ll go in and get it fixed next time I’m in the plaza. The very next day(yesterday at the time I’m writing this) I go in and speak with a different man at the register. The sign is gone. I tell him the story and he says that he doesn’t recall there being a sign there and that they would never sell the beer for that price as it would be below cost. I figure that maybe the sign was put up by mistake and he never saw it. I leave somewhat frustrated but still confident that once I speak to an employee that has seen the sign I’ll get my refund. I even consider that I might have been imagining things so I ask the friend I went in with the first time if he remembered seeing the sign. He said yes. Today I walk back in and try again, this time 100% sure that the sign was present at the time I purchased my beer. Again I am told that there never was a sign. One employee says that they were«Not sure why I came in again after being told no the first time» by a guy who was«a big deal» in the store(the owner perhaps?). Another says that it would be illegal to sell the beer at that price. I explain that I am now perfectly confident that the sign was there when I purchased the item and that I confirmed this with a friend. They won’t hear it. I even asked them to check the cameras at the time listed on the receipt, betting them $ 50 that I’d be right. No dice. After talking for probably 3 – 5 minutes one employee tells me «that fucking sucks» and that they’re not going to do anything. I left feeling cheated and I won’t be back.
Here’s my theory: Somebody accidentally marked the wrong item with the $ 8.99 sign and it was later realized that not only would an $ 8.99 sale be below cost, it would also violate laws concerning the minimum price for alcoholic beverages. When I spoke to the owner(«big deal» guy) he wouldn’t refund my money because doing so would constitute a sale of alcohol below the legal minimum and admitting the mistake would be admitting to advertising illegal prices. It’s possible that he then let his employees know that this was the case and told them to deny that there was a sign there like he did. I understand the actions of the employees in this situation considering their jobs may have been at stake but I would much rather them have taken ANY other course of action than basically telling me that I was hallucinating and/or lying. I could also have dealt without the f-bombs from the one employee.
I know it’s a bit ridiculous to write a long review over $ 6 so I’ll clarify that I am more angry with the fact that I was treated poorly than that I lost money. If they had just admitted the mistake, even without issuing a refund, I would be unhappy but would have recognized it as an unintentional error and probably continued to visit the store.
Overall, this was a very poor experience that lost the store a customer. I ‘ll make sure to recommend other stores to my friends in the future and ask them to avoid this one.

I have been here several times, most recently on Thursday, 5⁄31. They have a huge selection of wine, beer and liquor. Their selection rivals Stew Leonards in Danbury and their prices seem fair. The employees are very nice and helpful too. You will definitely find whatever you’re looking for here.

Nice, well lit shop. Wines are well displayed, and there is a climate controlled room for beer. Beer selection is good, and will be expanding in the spring, so I’ve been told. Nice selection of everything, and if you don’t see what you are looking for, they are happy to try and order it for you. Some of the prices on certain wines are higher than other places, so do your homework. However I just purchased a seasonal beer, and it was $ 1.00 less per bottle than other shops. One fault is that they do not have wine ratings posted. While I won’t buy a wine just because it has a good rating, I find it helpful in making selections… If a wine is rated 87 and it is $ 20 and another is rated 95 and is the same price, chances are(through experience) that I will purchase the higher rated wine.
