I had my bike tuned at Bicycle South Windsor… when I received it back, the bike rode like it was brand-new! I’ve never had my Trek’s gearing change so smoothly and ride so nicely. The owner is professional and does a great job. He had finished my bike when promised. If you want some, flashy, boutique bike shop, where the sales people will sell you an overly-expensive bike that matches your cycling shirt, go elsewhere… This guy lives, eats and breathes and repairs bikes. You can’t ask for more from a good bicycle store/repair shop. The store is easy to find on Sullivan Ave, just across the street from Geissler’s. Just call in advance, to make sure of the store’s hours.

I bought my bike here a few years ago and bring it back every year for a tune up. Peter does a great job, his prices are reasonable, and his work is guaranteed for a year. I highly recommend you stop in when you are ready to purchase your next bike or just want a tune up. I like to support dedicated small business owners and Peter is very dedicated!

Came in with a LivingSocial deal and the owner was more than accomodating. He tuned up my bike, fixed the bent teeth on my chain thingy, replaced my tires and connected a kickstand all for cheaper than my local place. Also, he guarantees all of his work for a year! Very nice guy, but he does not mess around, which I like. He takes his work seriously and doesn’t waste a second. That’s good business initiative.

I took two beautiful road bikes here for a tune up, and the work done was absolutely terrible. For one bike, I told him that my front wheel needed to be trued so I could tighten my brake. Instead, he loosened the brake, and did not true the wheel. When I went back to show him what he had done wrong, he started yelling at ME, telling me that he doesn’t know how I «LIKE» my breaks. I said, preferably WORKING!!! So I told him to tighten the brake, and sure enough he found the front wheel needed to be true. Thank you Sherlock! That is exactly what I told you to do when I dropped off the bike. For the second bike, he did not notice that the shifter for the front gears was not working properly, and I had to argue with him to show him HOW front gears were supposed to work! At the end, he did say«Feel free to challenge me again» because obviously I was right, and he was wrong. If I could demand my money back, I would, but I bought vouchers on livingsocial. I highly recommend anyone to take their business elsewhere. I’ve since taken my bikes to a different shop who actually gave the bikes back to me better than when I dropped it off at Bicycle South Windsor. Please STAYAWAY! i also noticed that the owner writes horribly mean comments when someone dislikes his work. This guy is a real piece of work. STAYAWAY!

Brought a bike in for a tune up and tires. Had to return several times to have the brakes adjusted. Would have been a lot less hassle to go to another bike shop. I do not recommend this place.

Tony: I think I know what’s going on here. Jerry: Huh? Tony: And I just wanna hear it from you. But I want you to be straight with me. Don’t lie to me Jerry. Ya know that motor oil you’re putting in there? From one of those quickie lube places, isn’t it? Jerry: Well, I change it so often… Tony: Jerry, motor oil is the lifeblood of a car. Okay, ya put in a low-grade oil and you can damage vital engine parts, okay? See this gasket? I have no confidence in that gasket. Every time I walk in, I am immediately reminded of Tony, the eccentric mechanic on Seinfeld. While Peter(owner) doesn’t badger you for bringing in an improperly maintained bike, he is 200% committed to his work — just like Tony. This is why I have the utmost confidence in everything he does. For years I’ve brought my bikes to Peter for issues resulting from dirt, water, rocks, jumps, and the occasional tree. I ride hard — and it shows. I brought my 1-year old 21-speed GT mountain bike in the other day for a tune up — for $ 59 Peter took apart my entire bike, cleaned everything, and put it back together. It works better than when I originally purchased it new — each gear switch is smooth and the ride is flawless. His work is guaranteed for a year so after a summer of riding it hard, I can bring it back if I am having any issues, free of charge. Just like the notion of bringing my car to Jiffy Lube for an oil change(never going to happen) — I would be much less confident about the quality of service dropping my bike off at Dick’s or REI for a «tune up.» Peter has built a successful business around his passion, and I wouldn’t bring my bike anywhere else. Neither should you.
