The parillada is ridiculous… you will taste some of the juiciest beef and chicken youve ever had. The chimichurri was delicious as always, and the empanadas so flaky perfect and the ham and cheese so melty gaga good good. LOVE this place always have. Some people dont get Mauricios style, its very European, where he’ll wait on you, designed to give the diners the most time and privacy to enjoy their meal. In others words if you’re one of those d00shbag tools who even brings the smartphone out to use, or just places it on the table, yeah, you’re not gonna like this place, because like all great restaurants TALKINGANDSOCIALIZINGISENCOURAGED. EATTHEMEAT!

I am a true born Argentine… and let me tell you, this place sucks. Service: The man waiter was just plain out rude. I came to an Argentine place and I talked to him in Castellano/Spanish because it is easier to order that way for me, what does he do? Rolls his eyes and speaks back to me in English. He refused to speak Spanish. He had a thick accent in English and understood everything I said, so don’t act like you don’t speak it. He was extremely disinterested and acted like he didn’t even want us there. After we ordered, he would hang out close to our table and watch TV. WTF is that? We want to be able to talk and he is just siting around right next to us? We had no privacy. Food: They were out of so many things and it was barely 6:30pm…prime time for dinner! Why even have a restaurant if you don’t have food to offer? I had to order something that was my 3rd choice. The chimichurri… YUCK! Really? That’s not how you make it at all. I have seen many different versions, but I am not sure what that is. The empanadas were good. Different than what I am used to as the meat was in pretty big pieces, but it tasted good. The milanesa napolitana was meh. Not condimented well. It was bland. The chorizo did not taste like Argentine chorizo. The husband hated the churrasco and didn’t finish it. He left ¾th of his meal behind. Dessert: I had the alfajor and it is made from maizena. It was good. They charge you pretty high for the quality of food they are serving. The fact that the service is not good and the food is meh to bad… is really dissapointing. I wanted to have a restaurant close to me with food from home. This is not the place.

Salad is not fresh. Too nasty to even consider to eat it Only one of us brave enough to try it. Argentine beef is the best dish overalll. It is very pricey for the quality of the food. There was no other customer there beside my family on a Saturday. If you like to be the only customer this is place to go.

Nellie made us the best empanadas. We had ham &a cheese, spinach, chicken, and beef and I couldn’t say which was best. All my guests(30 of them) loved them and asked where I bought them. I highly recommend them, they were ready when we asked for them, they were freshly made and mouth watering. If you order them, ask for the fried ones, which in my opinion are tastier than the baked ones.

After finally locating an argentine restaurant near us I had to stop by and try. Unfortunately, it just went down hill from the start. I am shocked and ashamed that they call themselves Argentine restaurant! They are far from it. Just because you hang ornaments on the walls doesn’t mean jack. As you walk in, there is a family eating which we thought were customers. They were not and actually the guy gets up and welcomes us so we sit but very unsure of what’s to come. We are sitting and while they eat but watch there shows which was as if it was their living room. It felt so awkward. Next, we order Milanesas de pollo with Mashed potatoes. We also ordered the raviolis with red sauce. So he takes our order and comes back couple of minutes later. They don’t have mashed potatoes… Ok so I asked fries… Nope… None of that… Ok so rice… Not exactly what I wanted. Then they asked if pesto would be ok or white source for raviolis? Oh man, no red sauce too??? So, then we say no thanks just red sauce. He says ok and goes out side. 5 mins later he comes in with a bag of groceries and inside cans of sauce. Oh geez… How can you make a great sauce in 10 mins??? This was horrible!!! The Raviolis were mushy and tasted funny(given the sauce took them 7 mins. Open can and hurry to make)… Then the Milanesa was oily… So oily!!! Geez… The pics will speak for themselves… How are you still open ??? Por favor !! Qué lástima y desastre que son. Como pueden llamarse Restaurante Argentino cuando el chimichurri también era terrible!!! Por dios, cocino mejor yo en casa!!! I will never go back and just to clarify the castellano written above, I said how can they call themselves an argentine restaurant when they can’t even get the chili chimichurri right!!! It was terrible!!! I cook better at home and you spend money here expecting a great dinner. Not half assed! Please, be ware! Tempted since I am from Buenos Aires I made the biggest mistake coming here! They deserve negative — — — - 10 stars!!!

Always wanted to try Argentinian and Brazilian food, cause I love meat. I had the mixed grill and empanadas. The empanadas is quite good as finger food or soul food. The mixed grill is not so impressed. I like the varieties, but not that many cuts are premium, and as others reviewed it is quite salty. There is a somewhat good flavor and aroma to it compared to my own grill, but not much different. Service is good. Compared to Brazilian steak, meat lover would probably prefer the latter, it is more expensive but worth it.

I had the same experience as Sunny D. I’m local to the area. First attempt to use the coupon… they said they were closed due to a private church party. Made a 2nd attempt… I guess I was forewarned with the 1st attempt! Dinner was just ok. Salad was served in a stainless steel mixing bowl… same one I have at home. The mixed grill meats was overly salted. Couldn’t really eat it. Not worth the price they charge for the food. To top it off, the owner added his own tip to the bill! Gratuity is usually added for 5 or more persons… we were only 2! We will definitely not come back!!!

I had bought a restaurant, com coupon to use at this restaurant while we were on vacation in San Francisco. We walked in at 5:30 pm on a Monday to a completely empty restaurant. A man coldly greeted us and told us to sit at a certain table by the window. First thing I noticed was the large red, greasy stain on the table cloth. We were handed menus and the host suggested the grill for 2. My husband agreed and the man walked away. He never took mine or my son’s orders(I don’t eat meat). When he finally came back with our drinks and to take the menus away we told him what else we wanted. He looked surprised that we wanted to order other things. We ordered one of each empanadas, 2 kinds of pasta and Russian salad. He said they were out of 2 of the empanadas, did not have the pesto sauce for my raviolis and was out of the Russian Salad. He offered my son some french fries instead. We had to order at least $ 100 worth of food for the restaurant to honor the coupon so we were trying to order a lot of food. Plus, my husband doesn’t get Argentinian food very often so times like this are a treat. While at the restaurant, 2 other families came in to eat. One was sat and also offered the grill for 2. The other couple was told they ran out of food and couldn’t seat them. At that time the host came over and told us they only had so much food because a church group was coming in and had to save the food for them. What restaurant doesn’t have enough food? I have never been to a place where they save the food for a group and refuse to serve it to those who have come to eat as well. Unbelievable. Now for the food… My husband was happy with the grill for 2 except that they did not have blood sausage. The sausage is to be part of the grill and the host said they ran out. My husband was very bummed considering it is something he can’t find anywhere. I ordered the cheese raviolis with pesto but they ran out of pesto so it was changed to white sauce. The white sauce was so heavy and thick and just did not go well with the ravioli. My son’s spaghetti with red sauce was ok. The empanadas didn’t have much flavor. They tasted as though they had been frozen and reheated. The fries were one of the best things we ate! But it is hard to mess up fries . We asked if we could order dessert. The only things they had were the Alfajores and flan. All the other desserts were saved for the church group. The flan was amazing! Besides the fries it was the best thing I ate at Villa Del Sol. As we were waiting for our check, the church group came in. My husband, who is fluent in Spanish, over heard the group talking. He discovered that the owner of the restaurant is part of the church group. She made sure her group was served while anyone else coming in only had a small amount to chose from. I guess she isn’t interested in keeping her restaurant open for very long. I would never go back to Villa Del Sol. The food was not that great and the service was awful.

Ordered: 2 spinach/cheese, beef, and chicken empanadas, two glasses of house wine, and alfajores for dessert. Our waiter Mauricio was fabulous. My first impression of the place was, «Wow it looks fancy.» I felt very welcomed. We felt like family within a few minutes. I’m surprised this place has been opened for 20+ years and I am now just trying it. The empanadas were amazing, very flavorful. They were made fresh to order. The two green sauces that were on the table complimented the food perfectly. One was spicy and the other was like an olive oil/herbs mix. Lastly, the alfajores were soooo good! Our waiter told us that they are freshly baked everyday, good to know. Anyway, I love empanadas & I will surely be back for more.

Great food! We started off with the beef empanadas, they were amazing., golden flakey buttery shells with a seasoned beef center that just melt in your mouth! The BBQ mix platter that they have is labeled for two people but it easily fed three of us, especially after having an empanada. Sodas are in cans and charged one at a time so just order yourself a beer. Don’t be in a hurry, service is traditionally set at a pace that you can sit and enjoy dinner and the company you are with. The interior will fool you, this looks like a small dated family hole in the wall but it serves up food fit for a fancy restaurant!

I have been to Buenos Aries and it does remind me of the food there. I had a Beef Empenada which had lots of beef and was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. We also tried the Mixed Grill for 3. It was very tasty. The beef was tender, the chicken was tasty as was the Pork. Very good. Will come back

Actually I should throw an extra star because of the churros they sell on Sundays. I am not a fan of hard-crunchy Argentinian style churros but the ones they make are excellent. They are greasy but I guess that’s the Argentinian style. I gave it to my friends to try and everyone liked them a lot. What’s the name of the caramel sauce they use? Dulce de leche? It’s quite heavier than caramel sauce but super sweet and it makes you want more.

We recently just got back from Argentina, so we thought we would give this place a try to see how it compared to authentic Argentinian food. Small place in South San Francisco, but worth the drive. Was greeted immediately and felt welcome just like everywhere we went to in Argentina. We ordered the Beef, Chicken and Ham/Cheese empanada. The empanadas were very filling and all good. We also shared the Churasco steak, and that was okay. Somehow I wasn’t really that thrilled with the steaks in Argentina either. Finish of the meal with their homemade Alfajores and you just took a quick trip to Buenos Aires! Come check this place out!

Went here years ago, and when I saw that they were on , I couldn’t help myself! I brought my boyfriend along, who I am determined to globalize, and we had a blast! He was a little unsure about the place when we were walking towards it. I’ll admit, it does look very shabby, but it’s an amazing hole-in-the-wall! I’m Peruvian, and we KNOW our food. The service here is NOT American. This is something that bothered my boyfriend at first, but hey the server was NOT being rude, there is just a different culture out there than American Culture — GASP! Treat the place like your living room, and you’ll be fine! It’s an authentic experience, with wonderful food, and even better deserts: D Have the alfajores — you won’t regret it! Those are as good as authentic Peruvian ones!(And that is saying a lot)

Okay. we’re dying for empenadas. Finally found this place with a gift certificate. Got there… only one other table with 2 ladies. We stayed there for 1 hour… and the entire restaurant to ourselves. Was @ 6 pm on Friday night. We had their empenadas. .nothingbto write home about. corn was the best. Oh…bread was days old… not day old. DAYSOLD… had black mold growing on it… didn’t notice till I took couple of bites We get to the meal… meat sampler plate. Most of the meats were way overcooked… and salad.. way too expensive for what they charged. Well. We ask for the bill… showed we got a gift certificate… he took 10 mins to calculate the bill. didn’t know why. he comes back and he has the audacity to charge us 20% tip? Are u «F» ing kidding me! He was just sitting next to the owner the entire night drinking wine and watching telemundo. we paid and took off. He asked if we wanted our change back. about $ 0.13…bad service… horrible food… over priced. and greedy waiter… I wish I could write a negative review… AVIODATALLCOSTS… DONOTBUYGIFTCERTIFICATETOTHEPLACEFROMANYWHERE!

As an Argentinean living in the Bay Area for 6 years, I’m a bit disappointment with the lack of food from my country in this part of California. I heard about Villa del Sol a long time ago and it took me a while to finally try it. This place is in South San Francisco, and I live in the city. The empanadas are good(I had chicken, meat and spinach) The beef tastes pretty much like home. And the can be a little salty, but still good. Great chimichurri! The crepes with dulce de leche are AMAZING and don’t even get me started on the alfajores. Totally worth the wait.

I came here with my Argentinian grandmother and the family to get some authentic Argentinian cuisine. My grandmother was very pleased; «just like back home» she said. I got the mixed grill which is pretty much a gigantic plate for 2 of meat and if you’re ever in Argentina you will see we are a people who love our meat. It was delicious and everything on it was cooked to perfection; beef, chicken, sausages, the whole empanada(a little joke). There were not a lot of people when we went and so the owner came out talked to us and we shared stories of Argentina and had some wine. He put on some music and we danced a little bit after dinner and the ambiance was very nice. I didn’t like the fact that they had some jerseys of Argentinian soccer teams I don’t particularly like(Vamanos Boca!) but the food was good and overall it was a good experience. Empanadas if you’ve never tried them are Baked pastry filled with meat and other goodies. Pretty delicious stuff and a must try for any veteran eater looking for something new. Almost as good as my mothers cooking but sad there isn’t a location closer to my house but it’s worth the drive.
