…NOTLIKEYOURMOM’S PASTA: See my pics w/the MOLDY pasta from Home Maid Ravioli. I purchased egg fettuccine and a container of spicy marinara from Home Maid at the Jack London Sq. farmer’s market on a Sun. late afternoon. The very next day I attempted to cook the pasta, only I discovered the underside of the pasta was covered in mold.(I realized this was the culprit for the funky smell in the fridge.) I emailed Home Maid about this, but didn’t hear back. Apparently, food quality/freshness and customer service is not Home Maid’s top concern.

Walking around Hot Harvest Night Farmer’s Market in downtown San Carlos, I saw their booth with some of their products displayed. I was planning on going somewhere after the market to buy some fresh pasta but since they were here, I opted to give them a try. Since it was near closing time of the Farmer’s Market, I was able to get buy some items for $ 5 instead of the normal price of $ 6. My Purchases 6÷4÷2015: Pesto Sauce Fresh Egg Fettuccine Gilroy Garlic Marinated Mushrooms Butternut Squash Ravioli Made everything except the ravioli last night. We both enjoyed the mushrooms(BF killed the entire container almost by himself) which were actually on the tart side instead of savory. The pesto sauce was decent(I love basil & would’ve liked more basil flavor in the sauce) and the noodles were enjoyable. Great option to make a quick dinner with fairly fresh ingredients. Definitely try them out. Cash only at the market

A wonderful vendor at the Jack London Square Farmer’s Market! We recently bought some spicy olives and they were so tasty and fresh. We also took home their deluxe ravioli and it was full of real meat(vs. that meat«paste» that you sometimes taste in frozen ravioli). With all the competition for fresh pasta out there, Home Maid stands out from the rest in terms of quality and affordability.(Another vendor was selling ravioli for $ 15!) Also, when the woman at the booth saw that we had our newborn in tow, she gave us a nice culinary treat to welcome him to this world! Thank you so much, that was so nice of you. Great customer service and community relations. See you next Sunday!

The most authentic and consistent quality pasta available. Does not have the plastic texture of its competitors and is usually less expensive.

Let me first say that my mother and grandmother both have bought ravioli’s here forever. I didn’t know it was in my work«hood» and stumbled upon it. Yes, when you walk in the door, you will say to yourself, «excuse me self, where am I?» Just ring the bell! Someone will come out to help you! This is a family owned business and you can tell, the peeps are super friendly and welcoming. Ravioli’s are beyond delish and come in a bunch of different varieties. Going to go today to pick some up before heading to the parents house for Thanksgiving. If you haven’t tried them, shell over the $ 4 for a box. You won’t be disappointed!

Ordered ravioli’s from here for my wedding rehearsal dinner. They were delicious. and the sauce was very good tasting as well. You can not beat the price, and the value that you get in return. I will definitely be ordering from here from now on. The only draw back is that they only accept cash, so please remember to bring cash with you before you pick up your order. Definitely go check this place out.

This review is only for their ravioli making service. My friend and I brought in our fillings and were helped by an older gentleman at the counter. While helpful he isn’t the friendliest of people. His personality reminds me of The Wolf in Pulp Fiction. He’s not the most friendly person and is very curt. They do work fast though and are very reasonable. Keep in mind you need to have at least 5lbs of filling in order for them to make raviolis out of it. It took them about 3 ½ hours to turn out 60 boxes of raviolis. The taller worker who helped me out was very helpful in taking our order out to our car and was happy to hear that we had come all the way from Sacramento just to visit their business. The raviolis are tasty and couldn’t ask for more. The only thing I might request next time is if they could possibly make bigger raviolis. They are good at what they do and put out a great product. Keep up the good work.

I see these guys at the San Carlos Farmers Market giving samples every time I go. I absolutely love their mustard. So good! They only take cash and all the tubs are $ 6. Such and odd number… Fortunately, the guys were nice enough to sell me one for $ 5 since it is all I had.

(See pics) Review #1354. People who know me in person know how much I adore Italain of everything, al dente men /art /opera /music /love /cuisine /wiiiine /espresso /the lyrical language /romance /and only the real part of life, «enjoy, have fun, relax, and play.» Work is not even near the top list in life unless they love to do it with passion. And they are even more romantic with so much faith with their religion. So when I saw this tent at the Mission Community Market, I cannot help. I was quite mind blown by their cheese. The cheese was soft, creamy and rode along your tongue with some very tiny bites of chunks which I was told they were carrots. Some had a very subtle spicy kick to it. These cheese dips can be used not just with crackers, but as part of a dish like on steamed or baked fish, or with fresh pasta. During the visit they only had wheat and egg pastas. They make them about 3 times a week and can be kept for about a week but I don’t know if I could keep them that long before ravishing them! There’s a difference between dried and fresh pasta, not just because of the making of it and taste, but how and what dishes you use it with. If you have fresh seafood then fresh pasta always goes way better to complement the softness rather than the harsh contrast. But if you are making al dente pasta or lasagna with more sausage and other meat style that is cooked in high heat then you obviously would want the dried ones to make it not soggy. Also got some frozen lobster ravioli that was told take it out from the freezer and takes 7 mins and viola! I was a bit suspicious as whether the pockets would burst but was assured they would not. The frozen ravioli is packaged and is made at the South SF plant but they said they were fast frozen as soon as they were made. This box will be a late night crave. There were also a bunch of different types of olives which I did not get a chance to try but they looked very delicious. You know the best part? Everything was only 6 bucks! I secretly think when God made Italians, He must be in a very delicate and super good and romantic mood. Everything Italian is delicious, elegant, lovable and cuddling!

Bought some of their lobster ravioli, kalamata olive/fig spread, artichoke & Meyer lemon pesto, and marinara sauce at the downtown Monterey farmers market. Haven’t tried the pasta yet, but the other spreads/dips/pestos are outstanding, on pasta, crackers, even fish. The Sicilian tomato sauce has a nice kick to it and a fair amount of lemon juice, making it the perfect complement to the«meatballs» on the vegetarian meatball sandwich I made today. A bit pricey, but worth it. [Upon further review, the lemon-artichoke pesto had some pieces of woody, inedible matter – possibly from the artichokes – in it. Atsa no good.]

Delicious. One of the best raviolis I’ve found, even better than most Italian restaurants for much cheaper. I bought these at a Farmer’s Market and am trying to figure out when I can go again to get another fix. The guy working the stand suckered me in with the garlic cheese spread, and before I knew it, I was forking over money for spinach and ricotta raviolis and butternut squash raviolis. He told me he guaranteed his products and if I didn’t like them, I could come back and get my money back. The spinach ricotta ravioli was easy to make — I boiled it for 4 minutes, put some pasta sauce on top, and had a delicious and filling meal. Between my boyfriend and myself, we ate the entire package. I was full and kept eating because it was so good. I froze the butternut squash ravioli and it tasted just fine when I made it. I boiled it for 4 minutes, browned some butter and sautéed the raviolis. It was so delicious, it was like a dessert. Affordable(I got 2 packs of raviolis for $ 11), delicious, and easier and faster than preparing a frozen meal. You can’t go wrong!

I recently discovered this fine purveyor of tasty pasta at the Mission Community Market. My favorites are the egg noodle linguine and rich, flavorful basil pesto. It’s the perfect quick dinner, and I always make extra to take to work the next day. After working in a café that served pesto in the sandwiches, I swore off the stuff for years… until four weeks ago! The pasta is pillowy and satisfying, and the pesto tastes bright and fresh. The gentleman who runs the booth is quite charming, and even offered to make deliveries. I’ve also had tastes of the garlic cheese spread and sun-dried tomato pesto — delicious. Highly recommended!

Found this pasta on our first visit to the Oakland farmer’s market. Our nights tend to be busy so we are always looking for something quick. My husband pan fried some shrimp to top the lemon-pepper linguine, I just went with a little olive oil. Holy crap it was good. Another night we had the butternut squash ravioli. We browned a little butter with some sage and threw in the cooked ravioli to coat. Delicious! The spinach linguine was very fresh tasting too. My husband said the bolognese sauce was fantastic. So far everything we’ve tried has been awesome :) and it’s less expensive than the ‘fresh’ pasta you’ll find in the grocery store.

I am a fan! Came across them at Burlingame Farmers’ market… I LOVE their Lemongrass Pasta — VERY yummy, very light yet you can taste lemongrass, refreshing and summer-ly We also purchased some sauce, very good, we mix red and white together, SOOOOOOOO good. I am not a big fan of Ravioli, but it seems like everyone is fan of thier lobster so i will give it a try next week. Home Main paste is our Sunday night dinner plan lately I will be back to their Burlingame spot next week and next week and next week and next week :)

Years ago, when this Unilocaler was giving his mother all the usual fits of having a teenage son — endless phone calls, badgering for another 30min out with friends, nonstop video games — raviolis were often on the menu. Easy to make for a working single mom, and the sis and I loved anything pasta. Many a family dinners were spent with raviolis as the featured dish, and it’s a nice memory of an earlier time. Now, my fabulous mother still likely has fits — why isn’t he married yet, where are the grandkids, what’s with living in the mission — but raviolis are rarely eaten. Just not very appealing. However the raves for Home Maid had me wanting to give them a shot. Went with the lobster version, and they were quite good. Wish there was a little more lobster flavor, but they cooked up easy, and you gotta love the family history that is behind the story. Anything family run for 75+ years gets at least three stars. Yet if I had a choice, another round of Home Maid, or a reunion at the table with mom, sis and a bowl of raviolis, I’d go with the latter. Taste is irrelevant when you’re Unilocaling family.

Saw these guys at my local farmers market(Divisidero Market… every sunday). I was immediately drawn to their Lobster Ravioli. The vendor promised that if I didn’t like it, I could come back next week and get a full refund. … not necessary. I LOVEDIT! $ 8 got us a box of 24 deliciously fresh lobster ravioli’s. Enough to feed my husband & I(with a nice side of roasted asparagus). We plan on going back this weekend to pick up a couple more boxes. The pasta is so fresh, tender and flavorful. Not to mention– EASY. Just boil water, add pasta, strain & toss with an appropriate sauce(we used a prepared Basil Cream Sauce from Molly Stones). The easiest, most gourmet tasting meal I’ve ever made at home. $ 8 gets you one box. $ 11 gets you TWO boxes. etc. Great deals if you’re looking to buy multiples… and hell, still a great deal if you just want one box! !

This is the vendor of the basil/pine nut pesto we served w/the lobster ravioli from Il Pastaio. It was very good. As good as any we’ve bought and far easier than making my own. It’s available at the Kensington farmers’ market on Sundays. Interesting that both the pesto and the ravioli are made in South San Francisco, though by different companies.
