While the location is outstanding and there’s an OK coffee and«costco» quality breakfast every morning, I think the apts. are overpriced for comparable apartments in So. Pasadena. While management staff is helpful(they bring packages to your door)– they are not pro-active and often have to be asked several times before something gets cleaned or fixed. I had to remind them to replace lightbulbs, clean graffiti, clean up beer bottles from garage. NOISE: I could hear my neighbor’s TV through the wall(she was nice about turning it down), and the single-pained windows allowed me to hear various street noise(mostly the metro train and bar patrons from Mission St. at 2:00 a.m.) CLEANLINESS: The lobby and lounge are kept clean but the hallways, garage and outside are not. The carpets are stained and hallways are dingy(see photos from Jan. 2016). I think the offensive perfume/deodorizer smell in the hallway is to cover up other unknown smells. In addition, after a winter rainstorm, the garage flooded since management didn’t get up out of bed to turn on the pump early one morning. I walked through several inches of water to get to my car to go to work. Most of the time, they are pretty punctual about turning the pump on. Thankfully I only need temporary housing for a few months and found a better apartment nearby for less money.

This review is based purely on the phone interaction I had with the resident manager, Lynn. I was hoping to speak with someone who could provide a bit more insight on the community as a whole as well as activities, etc. When I told her I was inquiring about living arrangements for my mom, she was very short and simply responded«yes?». I asked about prices and she gave them to me so fast that I couldn’t understand. In addition, she never stated what was included in the rent. When I asked about the owner(is it a managment company? a private owner?) she was very hesitant to answer. She finally said«an owner owns it». To which I replied«a private owner? can you give me more information on him/her?» Her answer: I can’t really talk about that. Wow. If this is any clue as to how this place is run, I would never have my mom take up residency there. Horrible and disappointing first impression.

A friend and I stopped by this place to visit her grandma. It is very nice. Beautiful lobby area and common room. It’s clean and quiet and smells flowery. The best part was that the farmers market happens right outside the front doors! My friend’s grandma said that it was a little pricey but it is in a good location in South Pasadena near Mission where there are shops and restaurants. Her place was small but it had high ceilings and a nice interior view of the garden patio area.

Fabulously located in the heart of South Pasadena, location is unbeatable. My family friend lives here and have been first hand witness to their excellent management team. We got locked out on Saturday night at 8pm and were able to get ahold of someone to let us in within 20 minutes. The meals are pretty tasty, heard a rumor that the chef used to be the traveling chef for Cirque du Soleil. If I could afford living here, I would in a heartbeat.

Senior apartment in heart of South Pasadena. Not assisted living, primarily seniors(some younger families with kids as well). My mom has lived here for last several years. Very clean, very nice complex. Manager, Lynn, nice and responsive. Prompt and professional response to any concerns(i.e. plumbing or appliance issues). Free breakfast 730−900am. Free communal birthday dinner once/month. For additional fee can also purchase excellent homemade dinners M-F and/or housekeeping services from friendly professional staff. Very close to Senior Center, Library, Metro Gold Line, Farmer’s Market, and local restaurants and coffee shops. Pets ok. Nice, friendly neighbors. Highly recommended.

I stayed at Golden Oaks in a furnished short-term corporate apartment. The neighborhood is great — there’s a farmer’s market right outside on Thursdays. Plenty of things in walking distance. Great and safe neighborhood. Very quiet. Subterranean parking with elevator right up to the units. Property manager was great and easy to work with. I was very comfortable staying here.
