The Quarterdeck Lounge

We came here and had a great time. It was packed with winter texans and boy those folks know how to have fun. Clay Underwood is a great singer and takes requests. He even played «I’ve been everywhere» from Johnny Cash like a pro when my daughter made the request. The band (platinum café) after 9 are awesome too. Great place to have a relaxed and funny night.

This is part of the Isla Grand Resort on SPI. I was actually very pleased with the entertainment in this bar. It has a very old time bar atmosphere, but it is clean and it works well with the resort. The family joined them for their Monday night football and $ 5 taco bar. It was great and the service was good. Then it followed up with live entertainment. Everyone was dancing and having a good time. There were quite a few senior adults there and may have been snowbirds staying on SPI for the winter. The drinks are good, but a little pricey for the bar. The second night we saw a band and the whole place was dancing and having a good time. It was nice to be able to have teens in the place where they could dance.

Keep on coming back to the Quarterdeck for the music, dancing, and free popcorn! Seriously, they put something addictive on the popcorn. Live bands, a sailor dancing his feet away, and plenty if people watching will ensure you have a great time at the quarterdeck, if you go on the right night. Mixed drinks run weak, and are expensive for island standards. Doesn’t stop me from going.

I have been many times to this bar. There is always a great dance band, although the music can be a bit on the loud side. But yes, drinks can be weak, and service on a busy night is not good. BUT THE WORST PART of this PLACE is the SMOKE!!! OMG when will South Padre Island declare smoke free?!! I love dancing, but the next day, I cough like I have smoked 3 packs. Get with the times, Quarterdeck !

Do not get mixed drinks at this bar, stick to beer or shots. The margaritas do not taste anything like a margarita.

The draft beer is terrible. Even at a happy hour price of $ 2.50 12 oz. the draft is flat and tasteless. On three different visits, on different days, the result was the same. There is some kind of defect in their storage and dispensing system for draft beer. ALSO, beware, don’t know if smoking is legal in this club, but it is permitted. Several people sitting at the bar were smoking. The music is loud, and lighting is dim.

Super weak drinks be aware, but the music was good and people where having a good time.

Withing a time frame of 5 months I’ve been 2 times, the place is really nice, the live music is great. I am giving 3-​star rating just because the service. The place is really nice to go hang out and have a couple of drinks. But every time I’ve been there there has been an issue with service, what was suppose to be the third time I try the lounge, security guy was very rude, I was with my girlfriend and another couple, and the gentleman told us that the place was on its occupancy limit, and that if we want it to get in we’ll have to wait. Not the same answer that he gave the group of people that arrived just after us. We asked if there was some kind of reservation and he just ignore us. We just leave to another place after that.

I had a blast here! Its was free to get in and the live music is amazing, the band was doing covers of some great songs. This is an awesome place to listen to live music, have a few drinks, and dance the night away! Its located inside Isla Grand Beach Resort.
