Prokite South Padre

Brett is a true pro instructor.
Our family and a group of friends were down in South Padre last week and we were all very impressed by his knowledge, professionalism, and his teaching abilities/​techniques. We are all at different beginner/​intermmediate levels and different ages — from the youngest in their twenties to a grandpa in his late 60’s. Brett was able to relate to all, pushed our limits and taught us all how to kite. Brett had a great appreciation for our time and made sure to cater to each of our different learning needs. He also was able to set up the lessons so that we all maximized our time on the water. He would often do one-​on-​one lessons with one family member while doing a supervised session with a couple others who were more advanced, which allowed everyone ample time to progress throughout the trip.
He teaches you on some really great equipment that is in fantastic shape and makes sure you understand key safetey rules. Although we felt like we had Brett all to ourselves all week he still was able to work with many other clients while we were down there. He is professional yet laid back and found time to get everyone on the water who wanted some time with him. Everyone I talked to on the beach agreed he was the best on the island and one of the best teachers out there. Finally, his rates were fair and worth every penny. Thanks for a great trip Brett!

What an incredible experience. I had never kited before, and although the prospect of holding a sizable kite up in the air can be a bit daunting, Brett flawlessly guided me and another friend through the process. It is an exhilarating experience to have the kite lift you up out of the water for your first ride!
I particularly liked having the headset in the helmet so that Brett could direct me as I worked through the process, and as I told him later, I initially resisted doing what he directed out of my own internal anxiety, but once I released that and actually took his direction, I was up and going!
I truly can’t recommend Brett more highly (or Mary, who provided instruction to another friend of mine with equal results/​satisfaction) — It was an absolutely wonderful experience provided by absolutely wonderful people.

I took beginner lessons with Brett in Aug/​Sept 2014 in the Hood River, Oregon area. We did three lessons in Stevenson and one in Lyle. My first three lessons were shared with my friend, neither of us had any experience. For the ground portion and body drags, group lesson was okay. Once you are in the water, I prefer the one v. one experience. IMO, it’s worth the extra cost. My last lesson I took on my own. I worked my butt off in the water that day but I learned a tremendous amout of basic kite handling skills and how to deal with kite crashes/​line tangles, etc. Brett is a fantastic instructor. He is calm 100% of the time and can anticipate just about everything. I really liked having the helmet/​radio contact and felt safe in the water at all times. There are a lot of obstacles and variable winds here in the Columbia. Brett did a great job going with the flow and adapting to the changing conditions. My only job was to soak in as much info as I could and he took care of everything else. He is a super nice person and very laid back. Awesome experience!

We went to SPI specifically to learn /​improve our kiting skills. The lessons with Prokite exceeded our expectations!
Having on the water support and helmet– audio instruction was a game changer, making it possible to tweak and adapt in real time. Brett’s teaching style and equipment are top notch.
If you are looking to improve your kiting at any level, Prokite should be your choice!

My son and I went to South Padre Island to reconnect and learn to kite board together. We happened on Brett by chance when SPI overbooked and we are so glad that we did. Getting away from the craziness of the north flats, was awesome as the area can be intimidating when it gets busy. With Brett we had private instruction, great gear and his patience and experience was huge. We had some challenging wind and Brett was able to roll with it because he had all the kites that we needed.
I would highly recommend Brett for anyone looking for a kite boarding experience in South Padre. His professionalism, knowledge, attention to safety were huge to help us experience what can be a pretty intimidating sport. There is a lot to process and put together to be successful. Brett made it easy to get there.
