Worse place to wait for food when you order to go. Waited almost 30 minutes when they gave me the time to come in.

I went in again. I’m not sure how is a scam, as I and several other family and friends have used this with no issue. I tried the pepper shrimp lo mein again… greasy, too many bell peppers. Bathroom was the same as last time, no toilet paper or soap, smelly. The employees seemed to be choosing their own music. There was pop and rap music playing. No typical west indian music… strange. They recently redid some things. The manager/owner notified us that they are competiors of Applebees… I’m not sure how or why. It’s just a typical, more than dingy west indian place. Still, the customer service is more than lacking… I will be sure to not go here again!

Decided to order on a Friday night despite all the negative reviews because I had previously ordered like a year ago and the food was good. Anyway I should have taken heed because the experience was horrible. First of all the delivery took over an hour and a half and I live only five minutes away. As upset as I was I figured it’s Friday and they must be busy so it’s not a problem as long as the food isn’t cold. It was warm when it arrived but the food was terrible. The worst West Indian food I ever had in fact. The curry goat was rubbery and the gravy was like a watery soup. It was not curried properly at all. I also got the BBQ chicken fried rice which sucked. Tasted like boiled chicken w BBQ sauce and the fried rice was soggy and barely had any vegetables. It was truly a disgrace to guyanese cuisine.

Can’t give it not even one star. Let’s start with the bartender that’s was so all over one client that with just 3 customers at the bar she was too busy to ask her other 2 customers if they wanted a drink bc she was so up the other dudes ass. The food. Omg I ordered house special fried rice, this rice is white rice with no favors has all the meats but like I mentioned before no flavor. The chow mein, looks delicious but it has no taste. The only thing I can say was off the hook was the pepper sauce. Other than that this place sucks and sucks bad. Never again. $ 40 down the drain for two order of food and two beers. This place sucks. You want real good and real Guyanese food go to the«Nest» or Hibiscus”. Again this place is wack. Have to give it a star otherwise I can’t post this comment. Three dumbs down

I can not lie, the food is great. I live in the neighborhood so I often take-out; which is usually inconsistent in price, portion size and taste. I’ve dined in for dinner and I usually don’t have problems with service. HOWEVER, I do know that if I were a man, the service would be much faster and with a smile, but taking into account the West Indian culture, I get it… But I digress. Inside, there’s a bar which have good drinks and decent prices. The ambiance is dim with lots of mirrors that reflect the light. I’m usually dressed casually when I come, but I do notice that some others are more dressed up.

Absolutely terrible service. The waitress was very unprofessional. Arrived here and had to wait long for a table. When the food came out the waitress said they didn’t have part to a dish but asked if we would like anything else. We thought it was a substitute for the meal but had to pay for an entire dish separate from what was ordered. The manager was no where to be found. We overpaid and left. Refrain from eating here it is absolutely terrible restaurant professionalism.

Good curry. Horrible raw undercooked roti. Bought their duck curry and roti over 5 times as it’s convenient located and the duck curry is always good but I must say they should really fire the person who makes the roti. Maybe the roti is too large to manage and cook and they should probably concentrate on smaller more manageable roti. But all 5 times the rotis were badly undercooked and the flour was still raw. Consistently I told them when I go to cook the roti properly but it’s still raw. In fact the last time I went last Tuesday I decided that I will never go back here. The roti was not only undercook, but the raw flour seems to have thickens and hardened and it was almost impossible to eat. Never again.

I am going to give this place a break. It seems they have become too inconsistent with the food. Chicken Fried Rice is now more rice with meager portions of chicken. What’s up with that? Their hot sauce which is something I always enjoyed with my food is now diluted. Really, did y’all think no one would notice. Seems this place is going to the way of many previous WI restaurants — downhill. Still looking for that good and consistent West Indian restaurant to add to my list of options. Until then, legend is now a «has been» in my opinion.

Ordered here for lunch a couple of days ago. Typical west indian food. One of the few places that delivers to JFK which is a plus. Delivery took over an hour. Food was okay. Would order again

Great food! The pepper shrimp fried rice is very yummy! A nice place to just chill. They need to upkeep toilet area and do some updating in terms of décor.

Customer service is non existent in this Guyanese-Chinese style restaurant. The waitresses, bartenders and the girl that answers the phone to take delivery orders-are all useless, rude and clearly don’t want to be working there. The food used to be good but as of recently, I don’t know what happened. We paced an order for the seafood combination last night– was told they no longer have crab legs in that order but was still charged the same $ 18 for the order without the crab legs! We ordered fried rice with that order and got white rice instead. The girl on the phone was a complete idiot and didn’t do anything to correct her mistake. The«combination» pretty much just had shrimp and didn’t have much flavor to it. Not worth $ 7 let alone $ 18! Clearly we won’t be eating from Legend Cookhouse again.

I wish I read the reviews before I even ordered. Food is horrible. I ordered mixed fried rice with a side of roast lamb. Rice was bland, food had no taste. Lamb was chewy and had a funny smell. I regret spending $ 25 for these two dishes which is just awtful.

This is the first time I’ came to this restaurant, my friends always come here for drinks and appetizers. It’s 4;30 pm we’ve been sitting for 30 mins and 2 rats ran across the floor at our feet. The waitress who sat across from our table eating looked at us and the rats and continued eating an texting on her phone. UNBELIEVABLE! We call another waitress who saw the rats and asked to speak to the manager for our money back, we waited for 25 mins no one came. Then a dirty looking buss boy came out dropped money on the table an said«here is your money back» no apologies no manager nothing! I will never ever recommend this place to anyone, because the owners and workers don’t care about the health standards of their establishment I care about my Health and what I eat. WORSTSERVICEVERYUNHEALTHYCONDITIONS.

I work nearby so along with my coworkers we had food delivered at least 2 time a week. The quality of food had consistently declined, to the point where I actually threw out most of my chow main because it tastes like a sugar bowl fell in the food, yuk! Well today I decided to give them another shot thinking how bad can they be with a roasted chicken? Well boy was I wrong. I asked for half a roasted chicken… what I got was 2 dried out, midget size drumsticks, 1 dried out, midget thigh and 1 little wing for $ 7.50, WTF. I got so pissed I called and went back with the food, I was told that that’s a half a chicken !!! I said what happen to the breast? They said oh we replace it with the midget leg. Needless to say I got my money back and will never go back.

Typical guyanese chinese fare, nothing to write home about, the portions are large but that still does not compensate for the lack of quality. Rice is usually hard and grainy and the chicken is at times salty and undercooked. I have eaten from here quite a few times(takeout) and even dined in just because my friends insisted(because they are friends with the bartender). I think 4 times is enough for me to decide that I really don’t like it and there is much better out there.

This restaurant is simply one of the best guyanese/chinese restaurants out there. I highly recommend that you choose to dine there. It has one of the best jerk chicken there is. Also their BBQ chicken is amazing. For everyone saying they serve spoiled food, they are simply ignorant.

Personally, I like the food here and haven’t had a bad experience, but a cousin of mine had one. She ordered a tray of chicken fried rice(chicken comes in a separate tray) last minute and they made it. She was happy, but once she opened up the fried rice, she knew why they were able to make it so fast; it was spoiled. She has a super keen sense of smell so she probably smelled it better than I would have, and she’s a bit skeptical of these places, so instead of giving it one star, I give em two since I haven’t had a problem and always enjoyed their food. The ultimate question: did her bad experience deter me from ordering there again? No, but if I know she’ll be around, I order from somewhere else. =)

OMG let me start by saying, for the price you pay it’s not even worth it. I was starving and decided to order from them since I live 4blocks away(thinking it would come faster then Kaiteur) but when ii did receive my food, there was 2 small piece of BBQ chicken and a whole set of chow mein!!_-all that for $ 10! WTF man ii would rather starve my a** off and wait for Kaiteur next time. There food is soo much better. Piece of sh** restaurant doesn’t even deserve 1 star!!!

Legend Cookhouse serves similar food to Kaiteur, Nest, and Haibiscus. They serve Guyanese style fried rice, roti, rice and curries. During the week, it’s a nice place for a family style dinner, but it gets a little more but on the weekends, the atmosphere is a tad more vivacious. The food is excellent and the prices are reasonable. They also have a full bar.
