Perhaps a Sunday afternoon isn’t the best time to visit; maybe there’s new management since most of the 5-​star reviews were posted. Our experience was certainly not 5-​star. The fish tacos were bland, though the cod and Cotijo cheese were nice. If this is the best fish taco in South Lake Tahoe, there’s a wide niche waiting to be more capably filled.
The big problem was the service. Let’s just say that when slackers rule, service is going to suffer. You shouldn’t have to wait 15 – 20 minutes for a taco (when no other customers are around), nor extra time for them to make slaw (really — no tub of slaw made this morning?). Watching closely though, there was no mis en place — each taco required the cook to dice another tomato, grate the cheese, etc.
I wish we’d had a better experience, as I love the setting and the concept of supporting a small snack bar. This one won’t be it.

This place is pretty awesome when it’s open. It’s pretty pricey but they have amazing shrimp tacos and homemade ice cream. It is so frustrating to take a walk down to the beach on a Saturday and see they are closed. I could understand if there was snow on the ground but that’s far from reality. So I took one star off for the prices ($ 11 for two small ice cream cones) and one star for being closed all the time.

These guys catered our trail day today for Tahoe Area Mountain Bike Association. Everything looked fantastic, but the curry chicken salad wrap was so good I ate 3 of them. Gotta love an establishment that gives back to a local non-​profits! Thanks for feeding some local trail-​workers with fantastic food.

Awesome fish tacos, only place that they are good enough for me to come back to get fish tacos. Awesome local made ice cream too.

Best tacos in Tahoe. South African mike knows all about fresh, well paired ingredients. Although you should definitely go for the tacos, you have options: burgers, sandwiches, burrito specials and for desert smoothies and ice cream (local). Right on the beach, the location can’t be beat… neither can the food and hospitality.

The shrimp tacos with watermelon pico de gallo are out of this world! This is definitely Tahoe’s best kept secret!

Cannot say enough about how fantastic this local spot is! Hidden little treasure! BEST veggie tacos and ice cream in town. I look forward to when I get to eat there all day or week long! Even better is the price, so cheap! Happy Hour makes the food deals an absolute steal. If you haven’t been yet, you are missing out!

The blackened fish taco from a shack exceeded my expectations by far. Delicious. Hubby’s chicken fajita taco and beans and rice also wonderful. Made to order, fresh, and delicious. Service was good, helpful, pleasant staff. Can’t beat the location.

It’s a little shack by the beach but has the best fish Taco!
