Carriage House On the Harbor

My husband and I stayed at the Carriage House for a mini moon in January 2015, and we had an incredible time. Our room was beautiful, with such sweet and wintry finishings. I loved the huge 4-​poster bed and fireplace, as well as our views from all the windows. The food was also great and we loved the snacks put out each afternoon. We will definitely be back!

Stayed there this past weekend and had a wonderful experience. This being our first bed and breakfast, I wasn’t sure to what to expect. The staff is beyond friendly the breakfast was delicious and its a really nice house. Our room was on the top floor, nice bathroom, we had a fireplace and very comfortable bed. Views of the harbor are beautiful, some of the rooms had balconies. I am looking forward to coming here in the summertime.

This was my first B&B, so please take that into consideration as you are reading.
My boyfriend and I visited the Carriage House for a long weekend last December. We had originally booked the Brewster room, but a few weeks before our trip, they called and asked us to switch to the Stanhope. It was an upgrade and we got a balcony out of the deal, but it was December and we didn’t really use it and I just didn’t really care for the décor in that particular room.
Positives:
–Friendly staff
–Comfy bed
–Quiet
–Gorgeous view of the harbor (even in the winter the harbor is beautiful and it looks over at the town)
–Close to town, shops and restaurants
–Walking distance from the beach
–Food was amazing! Breakfast was delicious and I would definitely go back for that
–Lots of movies and games to choose from
–They know everything about the town and those nearby and gave us great recommendations
–Common use fridge with free water bottles
Cons
–Not much privacy
–We are young and people really took note of that
–Tub didn’t work properly
–First floor room was close to common areas and we could hear everything
Although the experience was fine and nothing sticks out as terrible, we just aren’t B&B people and need more privacy.
If you are a B&B person, this one is great, the food was amazing, views are superb and the staff is very friendly!

The Carriage House on the Harbor was a great experience. My soon to be wife and I stayed here on a last minute plan to escape busy metro Chicago. I wasn’t exactly sure what I was getting myself into but it was great. The mansion is located on a bluff over looking an attractive harbor view. Our room had all the necessary amenities plus a large soaking tub. The sheets were nice and so was the bed. My gripes are few but, the pillows were cheapo boingers; so be sure to bring yours from home. My only other gripe is that the towels were a bit old and had a bad detergent smell.
The food was amazing. I could eat their scones and cream all day long. David and Susan are a wealth of information and were very friendly. Khaki the «four legged innkeeper» was the nicest most polite dog. This is definitly the best B&B in the area because it has the best location.
