La Favorita Bakery

NEVER order a cake from this bakery. I ordered a cake from here for Valentines day and it was all wrong. I asked for a regular white cake strawberry on top and inside. I did not want a soggy cake. When I went to pick it up the girl didn’t know which was mine. The girl that took my order wrote out exactly what I wanted and marked the proper boxes and wrote it all out but the girl said. Oh she didn’t charge you for the strawberrys so they didn’t put any in the cake. Fine I said give me a cake that is not Tres Leches. The girl checked the cake in the fridge and told me this is not Tres Leches. I get home and it’s Tres Leches. Another thing the cake I got had no flavor and was patched up and the layers were sliding off. YES the conchitas are Awesome! But NEVER order a cake from this bakery.

THE BEST. I have ever had!!! If you are in a ten mile radius of this place and you don’t go you should be slapped. It is that good.

This is a little whole in the wall bakery, but it gets very crowded and packed!
Cash only but you can take home a lot of goodies with a few bucks!
–bolillos are delicious!
–mini conchas are customers favorite — times I have gone they run out sometimes
–love their sweet bread!
–I have been getting my rosca (king’s bread) here for the past few year’s
Definitely recommend this place!

Hesitant to write a review on this place because:
1. I don’t want them to raise their prices.
2. I don’t want to wait in line.
3. I don’t want them to run out of yummy goodness.
Decided to write this review because:
1. It is awesome.
2. It’s in a tiny corner on Downey and Rosecrans. So although we locals know about it and frequent it, not many other people would know about it.
3. The people there are friendly.
4. Straight from the oven bolillos and pan dulce

Forget about ‘Elizabeth’s bakery or ‘La Monarca’ bakery, or even ‘Portos’ (even though Cuban pastries dont count) This place is the SHIT!
Its located in a commercial center right next to a checking place and ghetto ass Little Caesar’s Pizza. It looks like a dump. But this place is awesome. I got an iced slice of cake, and 2 flaky breads that sort of look like 12 inch wide rulers. I got 3 breads for $ 2.50! TWO FIFTY! Are you freaking kidding me? It was awesome. This are the best Mexican pastries I’ve ever had!
