So after skimming thru some of the reviews I told my hubby I wanted to try this place. So we went for lunch. We both ordered the BBQ burger and he asked for his without onions and I asked for mine well done. His came just as he asked but mine was not well done. The flavor was ok, nothing to write home about. The server was friendly and the place was nice and clean. I am still on the hunt for a local place with amazing food. Maybe it’s my California taste buds but food in PA is just not the same.

I was quite surprised with the food. I wasn’t expecting much. The service was okay. Our server was funny and attentive. I had the Amanda Wrap and it was awesome! It had crispy chicken on it and the only complaint I have is that. The chicken was sorta hard, like the crispy part. As if it was sitting out for a while or idk what was going on with it. I wish it was grilled chicken because biting into huge chunks of hard chicken wasn’t the best. I ended up picking most of it out of my sandwich. The rest of my party had different burgers which they were all satisfied with! I will be back :)

I’ve been to The Local a few times, each time has been better than the last. They have a plentiful farm-to-table menu filled with delicious food well thought out by the chef. They almost have a Thomas Keller influence, without the high price of the French Laundry. (Don’t forget they’re BYOB!) But they are more than happy to bring you whatever glassware you need! The service is excellent. The waiters are upbeat and enthusiastic. They know how to make you feel welcome and they know the menu inside and out. Not once did I feel as if I was annoying the wait staff. They are willing to go above and beyond.

I am not sure about all the negative and nasty reviews on here but I can say out of all my experiences going to the local I have never really dealt with what I am reading here. I am a local person I could walk here and I love this place for breakfast lunch and dinner the most! Every time I have been here even with a slight wait for a table I have never witnessed the staff to be uncaring or unwilling to get me seated and started. In fact just the opposite. One day while having dinner my steak came out completely over done. I never really complain because let’s be honest the grass fed beef is amazing regardless. But this was a little too far. I ordered med rare and got well done. So I told the server who offered to replace it and I said no it’s still delicious I just wanted to let you know it’s a long way from what I ordered. She came back later with a take away steak for me that was cooked rare so I could hear it at home to a perfect medium rare. Who does that?! I have never eaten anywhere where someone cared enough to replace fully my steak and send it home with me. Usually it’s the normal discounts etc. She went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. That earned her a huge tip I couldn’t say anything better about this place. It’s for a real foodie the dinner tho. If you like plain and normal steakhouses don’t waste your time on giving a negative review because the local doesn’t deserve that! Breakfast is amazing, lunch is delicious. I read a lot of reviews saying small selections. But really? Places with so many things to chose from don’t make their food with care. They are streamlined frozen and not near the quality. The local deserves its 5 stars from me! It’s worth every visit!

I don’t get the ratings here. 3.5? The issue is that people up here are cheap and judge a place to eat by «how big the portions are for the money». The food here is great. Good food, good fresh farm to table ingredients… Prepared by a chef who clearly loves food. Are you a foodie? This is a hidden gem of the area. It’s more entrée then small plate, but the small plates are a great start for sharing. If you local and like places like Honey in Doylestown. You know the difference between the taste and entire of grass fed vs quantity bulk meats. You know the rare varieties of cauliflower, know what a «ramp» is. Your out of your mind not to eat here. Especially on night ms where they do a flat priced prix fix menu! What a ridiculously great deal. If you think red lobster is awesome, or the endless bread stick at Olive Garden are a selling point… You will give this place less stars then it deserves. However if you read the Philadelphia Mag and hit the top 50. If you have been to Laurel, Volver, and any other food forward chef friendly restaurant… But don’t want to make the trek into center city… You will not be disappointed heading to the local. Oh, and did I mention it is BYOB?! What’s not to love. I have been here a dozen times and realized that I owe them a salute. Thanks to all for great consistently good food.

Cozy atmosphere and great Farm to table food. Went for dinner, service atmosphere and food were wonderful. I had the sirloin which was seasoned and cooked to perfection him. Complementary bread was delicious as well. My other two companions were very pleased with their meals as well. BYOB

Although their service is slow, i love the concept of their restaurant… locally grown or bought… exactly what we need these days! if you are a patient person that appreciates a unique menu and slower service then by all means come here!!! this is not a chain restaurant that can mass produce all of their entrees so PLEASE be patient. the food is delicious and the location/décor is adorable

Yup, it’s true, the local is super duper meh. Shame too, because it’s in a great spot. It could be so much more. Every time I’ve gone, I’ve wanted it to be more… But it is just a let-down and a shame every single time, and I am now officially done. The service is slow, every time. The food is bleh, every time. Good coffee, but if you ask for milk, you’ll get a 1oz lidded condiment cup full of milk(what?). I’m not a curmudgeon who dislikes everything. I am a positive, optimistic person who calls em like I sees em. And I calls this a big fat meh. Please read your reviews, The Local, and get it together. The community wants you to be awesome.

Such a bad experience, I’m just going to list the bullet points: — Only one other family in the dining room — food and service was still super slow. Waitress was joking around behind the counter and the chef was outside smoking for the better part of our dinner. — Waitress spilled soda on me, then laughed. Didn’t discount our food or apologize. — Food: Super salty– not worth the price or the experience. — Dining area was dirty– and then covered in sticky spilled soda that wasn’t cleaned up by staff. We tried to clean it but ran out of napkins and then stopped caring. Never going back again.

Just tried to eat there. Not overly packed with immediate seating available, but we sat with our three year old for ten minutes and no one even asked if we wanted drinks. When I realized that there were at least 3 people behind the counter at any given time laughing and carrying on, we just got up and left. No one even acknowledged we had gotten up and watched us leave without saying a word. Staff was all young people with no apparent leadership, just doing what they wanted.

My husband and I went here for Sunday brunch with our kids, or at least attempted to. The place is tiny and it was absolutely packed. The waitress told us we could wait along a wall for someone to leave, so we stood Along this wall essentially staring out at everyone waiting for someone to leave. As we looked out we realize everyone was just sitting around lounging, talking and maybe having coffee. No one was moving and the waitress didn’t seem to care that we had been waiting for almost 20 minutes now. She pretty much ignored us the whole time we were there. I realize you can’t just rush people out but if they aren’t eating or drinking anything and you have a family who is willing to pay for food and service I would think that would matter to you. Needless to say we left and haven’t thought about going back.

Meh. Not impressed with the food, prices, or service. I did not leave feeling good about my experience or purchase. The atmosphere was good, but that was it. Limited menu, expensive, poor service. I’d rather spend the same money at a steakhouse.

We came here for lunch and they were super busy, which in my opinion is a sign of good food. You could tell they were under staffed as the girls were running around like crazy trying to accommodate all the tables, however still showed hospitality. We were seated after 15 minutes and were shown great service throughout. The food was very fresh and delicious! My mom and I were planning to share a sweet and savory dish however they were out of the hollandaise sauce so we ended up going with the sandwich. However in the mean time forgot to take off the pancakes from the order. Meanwhile they arrived at the table and casually mentioned to my mom that we forgot to remove it without attempting to make the waitress feel bad and without hesitation she said she would give us the pancakes for free. That’s called exceptional service! We will definitely be back with rest of the family :)

When I was served a cup of their coffee yesterday morning I instantly realized The Local HAD to be a coffee shop as well. The coffee was so good! All last night I wanted another cup and obviously I’m still thinking about it today! I will be looking for One Village Coffee from here on out. Side note: OVC is also fair trade The Local Cons: It’s obviously so good they get quite busy. I’m not a fan of busy. Haha P. S. from a non-pancake eater, I would definitely return and order some pancakes! love & light

This is a quick review to hit the highlights: — The food is great quality — Portion sizes are decent to good — The menu is limited and rotates weekly as they like to cook what’s seasonal — Seating is limited as their interior is very small — Service is friendly and waitstaff is attentive. You can tell they really enjoy their customers! — Service is really slow due to the number of people on staff/number of cooks — They run out of popular items on the menu if you go around 7pm or later, so expect the items you wanted most on the menu to be out! — It’s a BYO, so bring your own beer or wine

I went here for a birthday party and we sat outside and had an amazing time. Their menus change weekly and its always like a $ 25 tasting menu. It’s so cool. The servers are very knowledgeable and polite. The atmosphere is great. The food was even better. Everything about this place was awesome. Also, you dont have to get too dressed up but its nice to look decent here and hit the town. I will definitely be back. This place is awesome.
