On 3⁄25 at 5:01am, I approached the north entrance of the Sonora location. Walking in front of me was a sandwich maker/deli worker. As we approached the entrance, the door was not in automatic mode but was unlocked. She pulled open the door, turned around, looked at me, and started to shut it. I asked her if they were open. She rudely replied«wait another minute.» She shut the door. I waited another minute at which time another worker approached the door from the inside and opened it. She greeted both me and another person also waiting outside and let us in. I first went to the produce area where the pre-made yogurt and vegetable cups were. I then approached the sandwich area where I intended to order a breakfast sandwich. The same sandwich worker was standing at the deli register talking to another worker while she appeared to be making a purchase. After the purchase, the purchasing worker said she needed to help the customer, assuming that was me. The first worker, the one who I walked up to the door with, replied to the other worker«no you don’t.» She then said some words quietly to the other worker and then said out loud«I don’t care.» The first worker then said to the other worker, «follow me.» They both went to the back and never acknowledged me. I left through the south entrance, once again, not satisfied with the deli customer service. I’ve always had a sub par experiences with this deli but would still order from there. I can honestly say without a doubt I will not be returning.

I like this store. They have pizza. I need pizza to survive. They have water and soda. I sort of need that also. I like the deli, they have meat. I love me some meat. I really like animals and wish I could be a vegetarian but I can’t. Meat in between bread is soo good. The people who work here are very nice.

We just moved to Sonora and I’ve only been to this Safeway twice so far but both were good experiences with the exception of the checkout lines and lack of baggers. I liked the produce section quite a bit as well as the salads and other items in the deli. I thought the meat section was standard but nothing special. I do think Savemart has a better meat dept. The checkers were super nice, but I agree with other reviewers that they didn’t have enough stands open and no baggers. I don’t mind bagging it’s just really difficult with my 4 and 2 year olds in tow and I feel like I hold up the line. Savemart always has baggers and they always offer to help me to my car.

I’m so over spending $ @ Safeway in Sonora ca, really there is NEVER any baggers, & if you are looking for some thing, there is never anyone to help, WHY??? The last 4 times I’ve been there, I’ve had to do my own bagging, That’s not a bad thing I’m not lazy, but I can’t bag like the baggers , & again I forgot till I was all done & went to check out, I will never go back, Save-mart in Sonora ca, is so GOOD with customer service, & they always have people to help, so if you are visiting Sonora do yourself a favor & go to SAVEMART!!!

A typical Safeway and like most of the Safeways that I have been to, there never seems to be enough checkers. The staff is friendly though, so I can cut them a little slack there. There are self check out lines, which is great, although if you are purchasing alcohol you still need to run through the cashier line, it is a California law. The layout of the store is consistent to most Safeways, so it is easy to track down items which makes for an efficient shopping experience. Prices are a little higher on average, but if you shop smart, you can save a wee bit of money.

The Safeway in Sonora CA. Never going again for shopping. My car did not start by their business. After I did or spent my money in there. I could not find my AAA card. I went to the store for help for like a number to call a taxi or something else. They refused to help me at all. Lovely Noc shift people. Thanks a lot. All my frozen groceries got ruined. In the end I was able to find a friend who rescue me. If I did not have a cell phone I would probably end sleeping in my car.

I’ve never had a positive experience at this Safeway. Especially at the Deli… the women making the sandwiches need to get a clue. They’re very slow and usually pretty rude. Those working the cash registers are friendly… but by the time I have to pay Im already in a bad mood from the deli section.

The Pharmacy in Sonora Safeway has two of the most judgmental people I have ever come across. I am on a controversial medication, but it has been prescribed for me for years from the same doctor for years. Apparently, Don, the pharmacist, and Donna, a pharmacy technician, don’t think I should be on this medication, so they treat me like a criminal. I have been talked down to in most disturbing ways, Don even raised his voice once, saying he will never fill this medication for me again(then does because after all, isn’t that his job?). I have never once tried to fill it early, yet bring it in a few days ahead to pick up later in case they have to order it. My MD prefers that I fill my meds at the same pharmacy. I have since decided to go elsewhere because of the way I am treated. Keep your judgments to yourselves, and do not embarrass any more customers!

There is no reason to have to spend 20 minutes in line when it isn’t busy and there is only one or two customers ahead of you. That was my experience today – again. The clerks look for conversations to happen and then drag them out. I appreciate that the job gets tedious however some of us just want to get in and out. This is my experience almost every single time. That’s why when I can I go to Raleys in Oakdale. Sorry. But I have finally had it.

Pretty good sized store but all the checkers get involved in conversations with each person, so budget 15 minutes wait time in line

This Safeway and it’s check cashing policy is horrible. Today my wife wrote a check and was held in line for 15 minuets because she does not write enough check in their store. We have never bounced any checks and they made my wife and son feel like crimals. Save Mart or Angels Food never does that. This was our last trip to Safeway.

Clean and updated Safeway with a good selection of all your grocery needs. Wide isles for carts to pass comfortably. Produce and baked goods looked fresh. Much nicer than the previous Food For Less that was here before. Bonus Starbucks in the store.
