Dealt with them on three different matters, none of them handled to my satisfaction. Most of any money paid for damages was taken by them in fees and/or what they labeled«expenses». In one case with a $ 3,000 settlement they retained over $ 2,700! In another case, they charged $ 600 dollars(2 hours) to write a letter, I would have written(in my opinion better) in 20 minutes, and in any case, the letter was ineffective. I said when I first read the letter that I did not expect it to be effective and it was not. In another case, out of 4,173.00(which I had to negotiate after terminating them because they did not handle the matter), they filed a lien, initially for a little over $ 448.33 and then they«amended» the lien(after the settlement was signed) to 3,514.03, leaving only $ 659 for the net claim.(And this figure would have been only ab out $ 100 if the case was settled for the amount they were going to settle for. Despite the fact that the insurance company claimed to settle with me on 9÷5÷13, not payment has been made due to this so-called lien that I do not agree with. In addtion to these things, the firm takes a very long time returning phone calls(or simply don’t return them) and I did not find that they actually followed through on any instructions given. I have used an attorney 4 or 5 times in my life. I have never had any of them just ignore me or my instructions as these folks have. And although in the other matters it was not handling an accident claim, I cannot imagine any of them thinking that they should get over 90% of the proceedings by having so-called expenses eat up the payment. Those expenses are rightfully the law firms expenses when they are getting a percentage. It’s not hourly and expenses or percentage and expenses. It’s hourly and expenses or percentage. Well, that is what I view as ethical. The claim is not filed SOLELY to provide income to the law firm. They are suppose to EARN income by serving the interest of the client. You can judge for yourself if you think this is what they do from what I experience.
