Sonoma Holistic Spa

I live in Sonoma part time and have had many in home and day spa massages in the area. I decided to try this place since it is only 2 blocks from my home. Barbara gave a wonderful massage and I enjoyed the warm, clean, homey atmosphere of the spa. I don’t need a fancy schmancy spa with the high prices, I go for the massage. If you want a great relaxing spa treatment at a clean and friendly place, then go here. The prices are very reasonable especially when you compare the other Sonoma massage prices. Next, I’m going to try one of the specials on the website, the prices are very reasonable

Not great. Booked a surprise massage for the boyfriend and myself here. Venue is not nice at all… masseuses were ok, but instead of wine country it felt like we were in the backroom of a motel 6 and paying the same as a 5 star hotel. which were unfortunately all booked for massages that weekend.
Service was fine, but I wouldn’t go back and I would NOT recommend to anyone.

What are great experience! Kathryn and Barbara are amazing. We can’t wait until our next massage!

As your receipt indicates, we never received any payments prior to your check out post services, and the appointment booked online was not an advertised sale, but as we explained factors the amount commission we receive from our Groupon payment​, when we perform a Groupon promotional massage. If you have a problem I am sorry, we have never experienced a client select any service from the online booking system, based on their reservation confirmation with that as a ticket price point with the expectations as you evidently assumed. Our practitioners earn straight across the commission from Groupon, the business makes no profit, the practitioners take the entire cut and % from the Groupon, that is $ 30. without even the merchant processing fees, which I have to take on. Now you can see how it would be implausible for us to charge you $ 30. online.

Barbara, for some reason you still wish to explain yourself and make excuses for your unprofessionalism and inaccurate advertising. I did not ask or even wish to revisit the frustrating experience caused by you when you abruptly entered the massage room spouting off numbers, costs, and percentages. I didn’t care then, and I don’t care now. I called this morning only to request a receipt since it wasn’t sent as anticipated.
While I can appreciate the miscommunications in your advertising and Groupon (and yes, I do know that you are not Groupon), the manner in which you address the therapists and customers is rude and appalling. I would never recommend your spa, and I will never return.

Came for vacation and wanted to be pampered, so bought groupons for this spa. My friend and I both had facials and massages — hers with AJ and mine with Barbara (facial, I think she’s the owner also) and Katherine (massage). My friend loved her services and raved about AJ. My facial with Barbara was great, the products were on the natural side and she was knowledgeable about the products and effects. She even gave me an extra baking soda scrub for my nose. She is trained in ayurvedic medicine so that is cool. My massage was good, but not the best ever… I asked for medium pressure but it just wasn’t enough. Katherine was really nice though. Overall this is a great little spot to get away if you’re in the area.

My boyfriend treated us to a couples massage today during our stay in Sonoma. Barbara was my massage therapist and she did a fantastic job! She put the right amount of pressure and her technique made the 60 minutes very relaxing. It was honestly one of the best massages I experienced, and I do get massages quite frequently. I have a degenerative disc and scoliosis, and mentioned it to her. And she did an excellent job on focusing on my troubled areas. I did not want to leave. It was just what we needed. The ambience is also very relaxing and both Barbara and Katherine were hospitable. My boyfriend wants to book another couples massage tomorrow. This time we will aim for the 90 minute massage. That’s how great it was!

O.M.G. That was THE best massage I’ve ever had. I was like jello when I came out. I was so relaxed, I just wanted to sink into the floor and become one with it. I wish they had wheelchair service to the car, LOL! I’m so glad my good friend drove. I just continued relaxing in the car. It was just heavenly!
Kathryn is the shizzzz! I love her touch, just the right pressure. The right soothing rhythm.
When it came to the facial, she mentioned the steps she was taking in case I get surprised, I guess. I got the wine facial. I wanted to lick it to see what wine facials are like, LOL! After the facial, my skin felt hydrated and super smooth for days. Oh man! So so good!
She met us on time and the room was super comfortable.
We got the fab deal on Travel Zoo so I hope there will be more! I’m looking out for them!
BTW, the location for where it’s at looks like an bunch of office space.

Bought a couple of massages for me & my husband. Both Barbara & Catherine were great I what they do. We get our massages regularly & we must admit their massage are on top of our list. Aside from their skill, both therapists were really nice, warm & welcoming.
Only reason I’m not giving a 5 star for this appointment, we came in 10 minutes before our appointment & didn’t get to start until about 10 minutes after our appointment. They apologized for the delay though. Also, I requested for a couples room when I booked for our appointment & for some reason, it did not happen. Little things like this affect customer satisfaction, but not a big deal…
Will definitely try them out again when we are in the area.

As a former massage therapist and currently a professional reviewer of spas and beauty treatments, I can be, shall we say, just a little «picky» when it comes to who I let touch my body. I have been getting bodywork and facials from Barbara for years and I can honestly say she is one of the best. She has a wonderful touch, nurturing, slow and calm, without the cookie cutter, paint by numbers massage style you will get at many other popular spas.
Barbara is passionate about high quality products, nutrition and health, so she knows exactly what to recommend for your skin care needs. Her background in Ayurvedic medicine informs and complements her work in the most wonderful way. If you are looking for a great quality massage in the Sonoma area I highly recommend!

I found a groupon deal that I used here. It was a great deal. It was easy to book and I got in without any trouble. The deal included a wrap, massage and facial. I really appreciated that she asked me if I needed to use the restroom between each part (because I did!). It would have been nice to have been offered water since I was there for so long. I brought my own water bottle so just used that. The room and everything in it felt clean. The part I liked the least was being talked to during my massage. It is difficult for me to relax and enjoy a massage when being asked questions or talked to. I prefer to just listen to the music. Overall it was a good experience and I was given some helpful recommendations for skincare.

I had ayurvedic massage by Barbara. I wanted to like it since she seemed a nice person, but unfortunately I did not enjoy experience so much.
I arrived on time, but spa was not quite ready for the first client of the day.
They had some trouble with thermostat (heater) and water bottle was empty. Staff were slightly bickering each other, which made me uncomfortable.
Barbara kindly offered me a tea, but gone for a long time to boil a water somewhere else due to an empty water bottle issue. I wanted to start massage at this point without losing time for a cup of tea!
Then Barbara gave me a long lecture about ayurvedic massage and recommended it to me since it was her signature style and wanted to promote it.
That was a mistake! I had super frozen shoulder and felt ore everywhere (I explained to her), so I should have insisted to ask for a firm massage. Perhaps Swedish would have benefited me better. Barbara’s ayurvedic massage felt like just rubbing oil with circular motion, with no pressure whatsoever. Or Barbara might be feeling weak…
First off, we started more than 10 min late. And Barbara seemed having some digestive trouble that day. Her abdomen kept making a rumbling or gurgling noise, and she had to leave for restroom during session and gone for a quite long time. Out of 75 minutes massage, I am sure I missed more than 20 minutes.
It was hard to complain when someone had health trouble, so I said nothing and left a fairly good tip. But I was really frustrated from significant lost time and unsatisfactory massage.
For a benefit with doubt, Barbara may provide good (even ayurvedic) massage when she feels 100%.
And without unfortunate combination of thermostat /​water bottle issue /​her health issue, it could have been totally different experience.

I went in for the works and couldn’t be happier with the spa, staff and treatments I received. I started with an awesome Body Wrap where they exfoliated my skin and used honey and other oils to make my super dry skin feel buttery soft again! Then after a water break I had an incredibly relaxing Swedish massage for 75 minutes. The massage therapist was able to let me relax completely but communicated just the right amount to make sure the pressure was good and I was comfortable. The last treatment I had was an Oxygen facial which used real O2 and also an oxygen bar (O2 inhalation) that accompanied this treatment. I know O2 stuff is on trend right now, but honestly, the combined hydration with the O2– my skin feels great!
I am a little overdue writing this review because I have already been back twice since my first time. Every visit was great. A nice atmosphere which was soothing and relaxing, and convenient location with plenty of parking. The place is clean and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Keep an eye out for amazing promotions for this spa. I was able to use one and get an incredible deal.
I love Groupon and use their deals frequently. Because the deals are so fantastic my advice is book ASAP and follow the instructions, and expect that you can’t always get each deal you want every time as it is the nature of these promotions… but when you can take advantage its awesome– especially at Sonoma Holistic Spa.

Fantastic place for a massage! Found a great deal on TravelZoo and we loved every minute of it. Staff was friendly and knew what they were doing. Felt so relaxed afterwards.

Barbara gave one of the best massages I ever had. She took her time, no rush. I felt totally relaxed and taken care of. She explained the benefits of Ayurvedic massage that related to my situation. Barbara has really good healing energy. I believe if you are not in a rush and want a relaxing, healing, lovely experience. this is the place to go.

I hope you realized by giving away your detailed work load will give your clients an opportunity to make a positive and negative thoughts. I personally got confused as to whether your complaining or making excuses. If you think its too much, then you should’ve not make such a promotion.

Barbara gave me a wonderful ayurvedic massage. Her technique and her touch were excellent. Afterwards, I felt both relaxed and invigorated. It was nice to get her help with breathing to get relaxed and feel comfortable. I appreciated Barbara’s hospitality and I am looking forward to getting another massage from her.

Did not enjoy my massage. The spa and room were all freezing cold, all employees were walking around wearing jackets! And the masseuse did not do a good job, really strained my neck repeatedly with a particular motion, and since then I’ve had a deep pain in my shoulder every time I sneeze. Need to get another massage to fix this issue, at a different location.

Best massage I’ve ever had in my life!!!
