Q’s Nuts & Other Cravings

First met Q’s nuts at the South End whatchamacallit they have in the summer where a bunch of small businesses gather, sadly I didn’t get any nuts there cause my intention wasn’t for buying food. My boyfriend recently moved not even a mile away from the brick and mortar. We were on our way to go hiking and I decided I wanted to give it another go cause definitely remember the chocolate raspberry cashews… I’ve never had sweetened cashews before, I’ve always had em salty. I hauled out in the store (I believe it was xmas eve at the time) and I am in love. The prices are great, $ 7 for a small, $ 15 for a large bag. My bff loves the rosemary and sea salt, and she gets obsessed when she discovers something she loves. Got her a bag of the lemongrass one too. I got myself another chocolate raspberry, and sample the lavender and chocolate… ended up getting the large bag of that and a small bag of the raspberry. They’re so freaking friendly and they had free coffee for were shopping around; I think it’s from a local coffee shop? Can all small locally owned business be this awesome? Def need to try the ice cream next time.

Outstanding nut artisans offer terrific flavor options and comparable pricing for boutique foods. These are not just «candied nuts» — they are kicked up crunchies that will slay the tastebuds of any nut-​lover.
Additionally, their flavors are often available in almond, cashew, pecan or mixed varieties. You must resist (or not) eating an entire bag yourself with flavors like Key Lime Ginger, Garlic Basil Sage, Yerba Mate Chocolate, Bananas Foster, Coconut Lime, and Chocolate Orange Cardamom.
Q’s Nuts are available at farmer’s markets and specialty shops, but hit up their store in Somerville for the motherlode and taste samples. Gift baskets are also available here, as well as select nuts by the pound, and a handful of the famous ice creams from Christina’s in Cambridge. And your selection wouldn’t be complete without an Eat My Nuts bumper sticker hahahahaha!
Good food, good ‘tudes, and the quality to back it all up. Q’s Nuts is the epitome of a hiddem gem local business.

If your experience with nuts is limited to the Planters section in the grocery store, you are missing out! Q’s Nuts has crazy flavor combinations that are original and incredible! So glad they’re in the Boston Public Market now. I have yet to try a flavor I don’t love!

Love these nuts! First tried them at the Sowa Open Market in the South End. The location is not too far from Davis Sq and there is plenty of parking if you just want to stop by quickly, get your nuts, and leave. They also have a great selection of some local treats, like Tazo chocolate. Was really happy to find that they do a gift basket for around $ 20 (maybe more??) with a selection of many different nuts. They come in either all cashews, all almonds, or mixed. The cashier even helped me pick out a colorful ribbon and note card!
I would love to come back and try their selection of frozen treats. I hear the kulfi ice cream is pretty good.

The nuts are amazing and their ice cream is the best in Davis. I’m waiting for my next cheat day to try their frozen yogurt.

But, yeah, these are good. Tons of options, lots of flavor.
Anytime I go, the employees are super cool. Once you start talking to them/​asking to try things, they get really into it. They’re happy to talk about what they like/​recommend and will give you as many samples as you want.
They also sell Christina’s Ice Cream which makes me happy. It’s pretty damn good.

When you walk in the front door it smells soo good! (That’s a really good sign). The staff is really helpful and is more than generous with samples. Also the product is high quality and a good price. My favorite is ‘Key Lime Ginger’.

I’ve been meaning to come here since it opened. Time goes by so many good places in Somerville to try. My daughter and In went in today and I was surprised it was not packed with people .The man that was working was very helpful and explained the process of making the flavored nuts. I think I will be buying some for stocking stuffers!

I can not speak of this business highly enough! I recently had a small wedding of 80 and ordered 120 bags of nuts in 4 different flavors (rosemary cashews, chocolate raspberry almonds, autumn roasted pecans, and cayenne mango cashews) at just 2.50/ bag.
I decided basically on a whim (less than 1 week before!!!) that the nuts would be a nice add-​on to my fall wedding held in Upstate NY. I ordered the nuts on the Monday before my wedding and picked them up Friday afternoon, and the owner even applied my own custom-​ordered wedding favor stickers to the bags! Again– all for only 2.50 per bag! The guests raved over them, and apparently some were greedy and grabbed 2 or 3 bags. If I could have a do-​over, I would have ordered double the amount that I did, because then maybe there would have been some left over for myself!
In addition to the nuts being a cute, unique addition to my wedding, the customer service was wonderful. The owner (I think she was the owner) of the store was so kind and helpful, and she came off as being gracious to have my business… regardless of my last minute request! When I went to pick up my order, she even offered to carry the box to my car AND she gave me free coffee AND she even threw in a few extra bags of the rosemary cashews.
Living right around the corner, I’ll definitely be frequenting this place. So basically: Delicious nuts + great customer service = happy forever customer!

Walnuts. Yes. I got walnuts. I would never think I’d go to a store on a walk home from work to get nuts, but I did.
I couldn’t help myself. The aroma of roasting nuts smelled so good, I HAD to go in and spend three bucks on a little bag of delicious sweet and salty walnuts.
I am now an addict. I will now be here at least once a week to get some nuts!

The husband and wife team that are Q’s nuts are so nice and so friendly. I will happily become a regular customer.
I mean, nuts are healthy, right? A little unrefined sugar and salt and roasting them up makes them delectable.
They also have Christina’s ice cream and coffee. I will be back soon! I will be back a lot! NUTS!!!

As quoted from a friend who introduced me to this place «didn’t know I needed them in my life until I tried them» — I totally agree!
Right when you step into the store, you’ll be immediately greeted by a rich scent of lime and spices. The store owner was incredibly sweet and gave me a brief introduction to all the varieties. She was also very generous with the samples. Here are the flavors I tried:
Mango cayenne cashews– sweet with a spicy kick in a mix of cashews and dried mango bits
Chocolate lavender almonds — starts off rather subtle but finishes with a really nice aroma
Chocolate coconut almonds — lightly dressed with a coat of chocolate and coconut shavings
Mexican chocolate — cinnamon and spices, probably the most common of the ones I’ve tried
Health nut — don’t remember exactly what was in this but it was a great sweet and savory mix. You can purchase this one by the pound.
I didn’t notice this until later, but the flavors are available with different nuts such as pecans/​cashews/​almonds.
The prices are quite fair for how delicious the nuts are. I got three bags for $ 20, two as souvenirs for my parents and one for me =)

A store dedicated to to the wonderful world of nutz! After a jam session with my yogi pal Mike, we hopped inside Q’s Nuts to see what was inside.
We were pleasantly greeted by a ripped dude who let us sample any nuts we wanted. Literally everything I sampled was delicious. I opted for the Sea Salt and Lemongrass Cashews… superb! There were some other crazy concoctions including a Chocolate and Coconut Almonds.
Everything is made right in the shop. Vegan-​friendly options abound. Great smells. Great tastes. Cool staff. Q’s Nuts is a winner.

Got nuts? No? Well never fear. Because Q does. Lots of them.
Q will let you sample his nuts before you buy them (just ask any staff member!).
Q sells T-​shirts and bumper stickers so you can advertise his nuts wherever you go.
Q also sells ice cream from Christina’s in Inman Square, because, ya know, ice cream goes well with nuts.
Q even has little variety gift packages, so you can give his nuts to that super special someone.
But enough of that. We need to talk about Q’s nuts themselves, because they are fantastic! They sell sweet nuts and savory nuts, so no matter what kind of nut you’re craving, Q’s got you covered. My personal favorite is the cayenne mango cashews, because they’re a little bit of both. The chocolate raspberry and the bananas foster are also must-​tries. After doing some sampling, I bought little bags of those three aforementioned flavors. Each cost about three bucks a pop. Not bad, considering those three little bags are full of some mighty serious flavor.
So, are you convinced yet? You should be. I highly recommend you make the 6 to 7 minute trek from Davis Square out to Q’s. Stuff your face full with as many nuts as you can, and the rest will be history.

Just received my package today with a variety of nuts I purchased through their website. I ordered them On Sunday after seeing them on the Phantom Gourmet. I received the box shipped via USPS priority mail today which is Tuesday. Very fast and impressive shipping. All the nuts were very good with my favorite being the Mexican chocolate almonds. My wife really liked the banana foster pecans. Overall, very good experience. Prices are moderately high… would order again.

I like to make little bundles with local made snacks and items — they always include stuff from Q’s.

…and my auntie in South Carolina was so damn happy with everything I sent her that i’m pretty sure she’s gonna move up here.
Long story short, when I wanna impress (and send great New England snacks to) the people I care about, I stop here and get a couple of the 3 for $ 10 bundles.
I’ll have to start adding the bags of loose tea they also sell (especially the rooibos — I’m a rooibos disciple). It’s time to switch things up a bit.

Qs nuts are the best nuts. And I’ve eaten a lot of nuts (you’re welcome for the «that’s what she said» gimme, 13 year olds).
4 stars only because I think their farmer’s experience is better than the experience of the actual store. At the farmer’s market, Q was super excited about showing off his product, recommending trying different kinds, and earnestly dishing samples. I’m sure if I’d wanted help at the store I could’ve asked for it, but it seems like the flavors that were out were way more limited than what I’d seen at the farmer’s market before, and the folks behind the counter were a little on the passive side.
Worth a stop, worth a nibble, worth a purchase. The sweet, the mexican chocolate, and the bananas foster were all amazing, but from what I recall of past sampling experiences it’s tough to go wrong here unless you’ve got some sort of allergy. In which case — warning: contains nuts.

I had the pleasure of first meeting the creative mind behind Q’s nuts while participating in an event at the Arts of the Armory on Highland Ave for local businesses and community service organizations. One sampling of these nuts and I knew I had to find the store that had recently opened in Somerville to get my hands on some more!
Q’s has lots of yummy nut varieties to choose from, including multiple flavor and vegan options. The friendly staff are very helpful in selecting the perfect taste profile for you, and offered generous samples. At $ 10 for 3 small bags, you get a good price for a very tasty local treat. I really liked the bananas foster and autumn roasted pecans, and I hope to go back to try out the ice cream too. The carrot cake ice cream sounded amazing, and my senses were delightfully assaulted when coming into the shop. I know that may seem like an extreme description, but it is definitely accurate!

I find it hard to believe that niche stores have a chance to survive after their luster has worn off. But I think Q and family might just be the exception. I drove by it yesterday and immediate realized that I gotta check it out. After stopping by a local spot to see some friends ironically someone mentioned Q’s. That sealed the deal. Back I went to the Ville to visit the family uh um I mean go check out the nuts. I walked in and was hit with the delicious smell of a new batch of chocolate coconut almonds. YES PLEASE! I sampled a few of the others after asking Q for some recommendations. They were tasty but then I tried the coconut and was hooked. Hate to admit it but the smell was better than the taste. Still yummy but the smell was just ridiculously intoxicating. Prices are high but you do get what you pay for when at a specialty store.
Anything here would make a good addition to your Thanksgiving table.

Ok it’s out of my system.
The newest addition to the neighborhood, replacing a mediocre convenience store is Q’s Nuts, a family-​owned, speciality store that specializes in roasting and selling… nuts. All kinds of nuts. Sweet, savory, vegan, you name it! There’s a ton of delicious samples and all kinds of varieties and flavors as well. From sweet-​roasted pecans, almonds and peanuts to more exotic ones, some of the coatings feature unusual ingredients which are packed with flavor. They have ones with orange and chocolate aromas, while others feature key lime and ginger. Savory ones have thyme and salt. It’s very unique and absolutely awesome.
Based on what I read on their website, they’ve been doing this since 2000 and the experience shows. Every single sample I tried was outstanding and it lead to my fiancée and I purchasing three small bags of nuts, each different which only ran us $ 10. I cannot wait to bring those in to work for snacking.
And best of all, if you cannot make it to their store, which is just steps away from Davis Square at the corner of Highland and Willow, you can purchase their stuff on their website as well. But you won’t get to sample them like we did in the store, which means that you’d be missing out.
All in all, the store is great, it’s spacious, it’s clean and best of all, the staff was awesome. I am so going to be a regular here!

If you’re looking for a review that needlessly drops to sophomoric depths, using euphemistic wordplay to generate double entendre instead of simply relaying the magnificence of a this brand new Davis Square storefront, you can look elsewhere.*
Q and his wife has gone from farmer’s market staple to niche retailer for two reasons: insane passion for making truly original treats, and the subsequent product itself. He’s a munchie juggernaut, transforming the plain peanut, average almond and common cashew into luscious legumes and decadent drupes.
The flavor spectrum is about as Roy G. Biv as they come, so you owe it to yourself to swing by the shop and take advantage of the generous sampling they allow. My top three? Key Lime Ginger or the Cayenne Mango cashews, and anything Bananas Foster. Hand-​candied, small batch output ensures a tacky, crunchy coating, anything but overly sweet and wonderfully complex.
If his signature snack isn’t your thing, feel free to scoop dried fruits and other goodies available by the pound, or a scoop or two of Inman Square icon Christina’s ice creams and gelato. There’s a cooler full of liquids if you find yourself dehydrated from drooling.
Q’s a great guy and he’s got a helluva shop. Can this one-​trick pony muster the patronage to keep a full store up and running? *Just pop his nuts in your mouth once, and you’ll be coming back for more.
