The four stars are for the food only — customer service and delivery is 1 star. Maya Sol has delicious food — I am a huge fan of their burritos! So, so good! However, the person who answers the phones and takes orders isn’t very fluent in English so it takes a lot longer than it should to place our order and make sure she has taken it down correctly.(It took us 10 whole minutes to order 3 burritos!) Also, the delivery time is outrageous. Maya Sol is a 5 minute drive straight down Broadway from my house(but we don’t have a car; if we did, we would have just picked it up) and it took about an hour before we got our food. That to me was a little crazy. I also like how they give you chips and salsa with every meal, without you even asking for it. That’s a nice plus.

Wanted to try something new for the night & have heard of this place over the years so decided to check it out. Food was right on time quoted from Foodler. Everything was great, ordered tons of things & sides just to try everything on the menu. All meals were great, Carne & Shrimp was super tasty, lots of fresh veggies with everything. Only downside to me was the sides of Guac, and Pico I paid a good amount for and got this tiny little portion, wont be ordering them again! The rice was delish though, salads were great. Everything was good. Would def go back, just wouldnt order all the sides & the chips were 1.99 for 12 chips, at Taco Loco they are free! Ooh and I ordered Plantains & they never came so we were a little bummed about that. Called Foodler & they claimed they would refund us, but have yet to see that come up. Called the restaurant & they did nothing about it.

Probably the worst Mexican I’ve ever had. My chicken taco salad was basically a fried shell with lettuce and a few pieces of grilled chicken on top. Tasteless. The chicken tamale was the size of a small burrito, but most of it was masa, tasteless. Delivery was over an hour, food was still warm however.

Have been to Maya Sol before and it was alright. This time my husband had a chimichanga and he started choking. He pulled a toothpick out of his mouth. The toothpick was in the burrito horizontally. I called the restaurant and the young girl said«I’m sorry, these kids don’t know how to cook. I will yell at them» I was a little shocked and just hung up the phone. Going to call tomorrow and see if there is someone that works there that is not a child.

I have order from here for delivery a couple of times but today I’m actually coming in to do a pick up because I wanted to see the scenery which is very clean and has a nice Mexicans décor the employee who took my order was very nice. The food is always good. The prices are OKAY… and if you haven’t tried the banana shake you are missing out.

Maaaaan, everytime I stop going for a long while(many months) I always return back in hopes to eat good food and have encounter with a friendlier staff. No! They always do something that disappoints me Don’t get me wrong, the food is good and the pupusas too but damn, the staff really needs to work on their customer service skills and etiquette. They have no manners whatsoever, they’re not very friendly nor approachable. I called in an order of pupusas over the phone because it was Pupusa Special Wednesdays, pupusas for $ 1/each, when I got there I was parked in a tow away zone around the corner, luckily nothing happened to my car but I just wanted to know approximately how much longer my pupusas were gonna be ready so I could leave soon, because I was told they weren’t ready yet, so I ask one of the females«about how long will they be ready?». Instead of her kindly responding«not sure, but let me ask» she replied in her rude Salvadorian uneducated non-mannered tone of voice in Spanish«no se.»(I don’t know) and kept going about her business. I did not like that at all. I didn’t expect her to know the answer but damn, there’s a way to kindly respond especially at a customer who approached her in a respectful manner. They lack, they LACK… The owners need to check them on their attitude and if they don’t like where they work then they need to just keep it moving elsewhere because«AIN’T NOBODYGOTTIMEFORTHAT!!!»

If you are looking for an authentic Mexican experience this is the place to visit. I ordered an Adobado Quesadilla and it tasted great. The waiter staff was friendly and the colorful wide open atmosphere was enjoyable. Their bathrooms are also very clean, which is sometimes hard to find in the city.

Walked in, no one ahead of us, ordered two burritos. First one took about 15 minutes to finish, didn’t even start the second one til 20 minutes after we ordered. Maya Sol, please find a new home away from East Somerville.

The food is pretty authentic, the tortas are very flavorful as was the bean and cheese papusa. The queso pupusa was good but needed the flavor boost provided by the salsa provided. The taco looked good but I didnt try it solely because of the size of the torta. We will definitely be back because to be fair to this neighborhood spot i feel it deserves a second visit which could push it into 4 stars. With the size of the menu it may take a few visits to get a good sense of the cuisine.

I like this place a lot. It has never fell short. From fried plantains to abadoba burrito /quesadilla to special beef chicken egg pork belly rice dish. Everything is soooooo good. I order delivery from foodler with them all the time. First let’s start with the burrito or quesadilla. Each time it’s grilled to Perfection and the spice and flavor of the abodoba pork is amazing. I don’t know how to explain it because usually when I eat a burrito /quesidilla. It’s usually hard to distinguish the meat as its own distinction in the wrap. It’s usually just a blend of everything. But for me you can smell the pork distinguish it in the wrap and it tastes so good together. Everything is good. The chicken and steak is moist in the plate. The pork belly is nice and crispy and everything just complement each other !!! Hope everyone gets the same wonderful experience!

In my never ending Unilocal adventures, I tried this place even though it’s so close to my favorite pastelaria that I had to force myself to pass it by(ok, let’s be honest, I totally got a pastel after I ate at Maya Sol). I got a chicken quesadilla, it was pretty good. The salsa and fresh home made chips were my favorite part. Not mind blowing, but those were some good chips and salsa. The staff was all pretty straight-faced, making the customer service just«meh.» With so many other good places in this direct area, I am not sure I’ll make it back.

I live within walking distance of Maya Sol so can’t comment on delivery problems that others have, but the food is pretty good. Not the best, but good enough to go back, and prices are low. It was a nice place when it first opened, but it’s gotten seriously dirty and grungy inside, and tables stay dirty for a long time. I really recommend NOT eating inside and getting your food to go instead.

I can’t figure out whether I’m in a Mexican restaurant or maybe it’s Chinese. I can’t believe the place passed any food inspector. It’s filthy. All the tables need to be wiped off. The food so generic it’s unrecognizable. Too bad, I hoped that they were going to be cool. Even worse, their attitude is holier than thou.

Worst place ever I should take over this restaurant and show what real Mexican food is the horchata was not horchata it tasted like water, sugar and cinnamon combined. The only good thing was the meat other than the rice, beans and salsa was disgusting. Never will I ever come back to this place.

I’m sure similar to most Unilocalers first review, it takes EXCEPTIONALLY bad service to start leaving reviews! I ordered with my colleagues on Friday at around noon. After about 2 hours since the order was placed through their website, the food arrived and my order was the only one missing(I should buy a lottery ticket today with my luck)! I should also mention that my order was in no way complicated(Small Chicken burrito — no beans). After everyone’s generous gesture to offer me some of their orders, a colleague called the place back and informed them of their error. It seemed as if they were trying to convince us that WE were mistaken and miscounted — Quite the contrary. After two separate phone conversations, they admitted fault and said they would deliver my burrito along with a free soda to make amends. About an hour later, my order arrived… in a brown paper bag. A BROWNPAPERBAG! While everyone else got their order in a neat plastic container so that their chips, salsa, and burrito/tacos/etc. were neatly presented, my burrito was tossed in a bag along with my chips. Even McDonald’s presented their order with more respect! As opposed to having fries organized in a ‘fypod’ my chips were just scattered EVERYWHERE. This is UNACCEPTABLE! It’s bad enough that I had to wait 3, neigh 4 hours to eat my food now(because I am about to enter a company meeting and won’t be able to eat until afterwards) but the blatant disrespect towards their customer after making a mistake themselves is just… no. Oh, and the soda they gave me was a CAN of Grape Fanta! Not even a bottle, nor a common soda like Coke. What, was Grape Fanta the lowest-selling item at the restaurant and you thought this would be an opportune moment to balance out the lack of demand?! Yes, I am reviewing this without having eaten the burrito yet. But this could be the BEST burrito I have ever had and I still won’t be able to get over the TERRIBLE service and even WORSE compensation package. No amount of diabetic water in the world can make up for this experience.

Not a large menu. Plato Maya($ 15.49) is a traditional presentation of thin sirloin steak, chicken, bacon, egg, plantain, fried cassava and burned green onion. Included on the side is a plate of rice and simple salad. Also available are burritos, tacos, quesadillas, papusas, soups and salad. A simple, polite meal. Soda only. Open late. Nice.

I like this place! It’s not flashy but the food is good. Also very reasonable prices. My wife and I eat here a couple times a month and find it to be a good«cheap eat». We often chat with the staff and they are friendly! If you’re looking for fine dining, this is not your place. But if you want good food at a good price, come here!

I tried to order delivery from them. I don’t know about their food because I haven’t eaten yet, as I am currently warming up my meal which took over 1 hour and 40 minutes to arrive. It is completely unacceptable for delivery to take this long. I had decided to try their banana milkshake because I love banana, and so it was of course completely melted and not edible. Then when I tried to call to at least get my money back on that, they screened my call(I had called earlier to find my food so they had my number) and didn’t answer. Also their mailbox was full, probably of other complaints. I will not order from them again.

Came here on the East Broadway Foodie Crawl and it was one of the more disappointing Mexican places we went to. I had a quesadilla with green beans in it and there was no flavor in it. I looked to the table to add something to it and what do I see? Ranch. Random. I also had the fried squash which I’ve never had before and was not a fan of. Weird texture. No flavor again!

Food was very filling and tasty. The Plato Maya was huge with chicken, steak, thick cut bacon/pork, egg, fried plantain, fried cassava and another plate with a salad, beans, and rice. The two kids had two chicken tacos each and shared a huge plate of fried plantains and a bowl of beans. They loved their food. They split a piece of tres leches cake they also gave thumbs up. Overall pretty good. The quality of food was pretty good and it was out very quickly. The flavors of my food, though good, didn’t really scream of more than a good southern restaurant. That’s the criticism I would give but it may be the dishes I selected. TVs in place all in Spanish– just FYI; not fancy but clean and more seating than many places nearby.
