The place smells old and musty the moment you walk in. For a second I thought I had mistakenly walked into one of Somerville’s antique stores. We ordered the simplest items on the menu and somehow they managed to deliver below average meals. See ya never. I’m not a completely negative person — our server was nice and attentive.

My girlfriend and I live around the corner in Somerville. Every once in a while when we feel like grabbing a beer and catching a game, unfortunately this is the only real option. I’m the rare incidents we do go here, we have a good idea of what to expect; ok beer, greasy bar food, and lack of attention, but it is what it is. We came here most recently on a football Sunday and the place was empty, which was fine. Service was brutally slow. We split some French onion soup, which actually tasted pretty good. We had buffalo wings, which were super dry and overcooked on the outside, yet looked undercooked on the inside. We also split an overcooked patty melt that left a lot to be desired. Afterwards, we were both extremely ill for hours. Between the obviously poorly prepared food that got us sick and the brutally slow service despite an empty bar, even though we live in walking distance, we will never be back. I hope the health inspector pays a visit so no one else encounters what we did.

Been here a few times for dinner and drinks, but just not impressed. Food is usually bland, often overcooked. Most items taste pre-cooked or packaged. Not really worth it.

I LOVE Irish restaurants /bars but I will never go to Mannions again. After giving it threes attempts over the past couple of years, I have given up. The food is terrible, waitresses are terse and borderline rude and the dank/dark environment not conducive to a cheerful Irish establishment. Time to sell Mr. Mannion and take what you can get.

Mannion’s is an old fashioned Irish bar in a gentrified and growing Somerville Main street. The décor is about what you’d expect when thinking«pop» Irish … lots of dark wood and green accents. Smells of boiled cabbage compete with bleach from the mopping up of the night before. No proper Irish bar is complete without its surly bar keep, and Mannion’s doesn’t disappoint here either. If you want to get drunk and throw random insults at people, Mannion’s is definitely a worthwhile stop. I highly suggest running in there and screaming GOSHARKS! For everyone else who’s evolved past the need for self loathing via trashy establishments and boiled food, you can do much better on Main Street. Sorry Mannion’s … not magically delicious.

We braved the crowd on St. Paddy’s Day and I’m glad we did! They were on an hour wait so we hung by the bar which was predictably crowded but got served within 5 minutes of arriving. A live band was playing Irish music and a man with bagpipes walked around playing beautifully! The hostess was a bit disheveled and seemed to have a hard time keeping track of the wait list but she was very friendly and went searching the whole restaurant to find my husband and I a table when she realized we were still waiting about 30 mins after arriving. We sat within an hour. Our server was terrible but the food was wonderful! Their corned beef was insanely delicious. The Guinness was also fantastic. If you have the patience and can appreciate Irish fare and atmosphere I recommend trying this place next SPD. However, if that’s not for you, stay away and go somewhere else. I’ve also been to Mannion’s on a Saturday night and had a good time with friends. Bartenders do a nice job and the booze is always good. Food has always been good, too!

Stay away from the Saturday night crowd. I have no words for how insulted I was by the crowd and the behavior of some of the patrons. Never again will I go here.

Trashy crowd. With the gentrification of the area, this place is now irrelevant. Went there last night with friends, and was disgusted at how bad this place is all round. Never again will I go back…

Another place in town that has continued to stand the test of time. They must be doing something right, like a fantastic Reuben. They definitely have all the Irish classics on the menu. Simple yet tasty. Good bar food.

One of my favorite Irish stops in Somerville. Mannion’s keeps itself quiet most the time which makes it a mellow place to stop in for a pint and meal with a few Irish specialty items to choose from but plenty of American bar fare as well for the picky eaters that aren’t as adventurous. Prices are excellent too. Meals will run you only about $ 10-$ 25 per person, for a good portioned meal that will satisfy everyone with some great appetizers. St. Patrick’s Day is done with an old style theme and doesn’t go overly extravagant. They keep it simple with servings of corned beef & cabbage, shepherd’s pie, Irish stew and plenty of pints of Guinness, Smithwick’s and Harp on tap.

Terrible bar service on an early Sunday evening– the one bartender barely checked on us, was on her phone while pouring drinks, and never gave us menus. Even worse was the Summer Shandy I ordered, which had a funny smell to it and just didn’t taste right. I probably should’ve went with a Guinness anyway… This place is definitely dated; I can appreciate pubs and restaurants with an old feel to it, but this place is just stuck in a time long gone with cheesy décor.

We recently moved into the area and have slowly been eating at the local eateries. We ate at Mannion’s and found our night out lacking. The inside smelled stale, the wall paper was peeling and the ceiling looked like it was buckling. The«manager specials» were written on a lined piece of notebook paper and placed on our table by the unsmiling hostess. Our paper placemats showed interesting places to visit in Ireland, but it seemed a little juvenile. We order potato boats that tasted old and burned– not good. My husband ordered corned beef and cabbage. The cabbage and potatoes were okay but the beef was dry and under seasoned. I order the shepherds pie which was burned on the top, had too much rosemary and the meat had not been trimmed or drained. The only nice thing was that the server was at least attentive even though she didn’t smile either. We will NOT be going back

On a beautiful July evening, we came for the traditional«cruise night» in downtown Somerville, but needed sustenance first. Had not been to Mannion’s in a while, so figured what the heck, let’s go… Outdoor seating was not to be had(full) so we ventured inside, where we were quickly led to a table near a window. Victoria, our server, was cheerful and efficient — always around but never overbearing… just right. My [burger-snob] son said his cheeseburger deluxe was«not bad, a 7 out of 10». My spouse had a grilled chicken sandwich but left off the best parts(in my opinion), such as avocado and melted swiss. My other son got«Kelly’s chicken fingers» which, even at $ 5, was a skimpy portion and not terribly appetizing. I ordered corned beef and cabbage, which came with potatoes, and it was very good. The highlights of our visit were my corned beef & cabbage and our server. The low-point was the chicken finger kid’s meal. The rest was in the middle. Street parking can be tight BUT a new lot just opened across the street.

Beer is good, with a fun atmosphere… But don’t eat here. There are so many other good restaurants on Main Street. I love Irish food but the food here was terrible!

I ordered the grilled salmon with a red bell pepper sauce. It came with rice with corn and peas mixed in it and broccoli. The grilled salmon started off well as the far end of it seemed to be slightly crispy on the outside but still maintained a decent texture inside. I gave up on the salmon once I got to the middle as it was obvious it was either overcooked or just not fresh to start with. So I moved on to the broccoli which was by far the saltiest thing I have ever tasted. The first thing that came to mind was the ocean –while drowning. I picked at the rice for awhile because it was identifiable. There was probably one other couple in the restaurant and one gentleman at the bar, so the kitchen was not slammed. I may have simply chosen the wrong dish.

Old-school Irish bar-restaurant with 8 taps, reasonable prices and friendly staff. Beers include usual suspects Guinness & Smithwick, also Boddington, Stella, Yuengling and Goose Island — not a huge selection but respectable. Just $ 5.50 a pint is very fair these days! Only sampled the bar food so far, it was fine if not memorable. Wings ordered buffalo style were very hot(temp), crispy and salty, mild heat despite order of medium, needed a bit more sauce, $ 7 for about 10 wingers. Nachos were a large heap of red/white/blue tortilla chips heaped with chili, tomatoes, cheese, beans etc., $ 8.50. Vegetarian rating: seriously, an Irish pub, you have to ask? Let’s be generous and say 1.5 stars for the Vegetable Sandwich Wrap at lunch; mozzarella sticks, nachos and salads at dinner. Maybe you can convince your server to bring pasta with red sauce, hold the animal protein. Mannion’s pub is right on Rt 28, parking can be tough, a few tables out front on the sidewalk and a whole lot more inside. Huge TV in the bar! Quiet when we watched an afternoon World Cup match, totally reasonable for adult conversations.

Excellent beer. Friendly service. Lots of excellent food options, even for a vegetarian. Can’t say it was five star cuisine, but to be able to eat so well at the bar at a pub in s pleasant atmosphere was s real treat. That broccoli.. yum!

I love this place! I never have to wait for a table, the food is good, and the staff is friendly. They have an ENORMOUS cobb salad with filet mignon that is delicious. My father was also extremely happy that when he ordered a rare steak it was actually rare. That’s pretty«rare» these days. ha! They also have great live music!

Found this place because I’m here for a training for work. Loved their onion soup and loved the environment. Definitely try it out if you are in town.

After three stops at Mannion’s, two things stand out. 1: Their musical act have always been good and well suited performers for a pub. 2: It’s a good place to drink. I would have liked to try their food, but to date all that I’ve had are beers and martinis. A side order of fries is an amazingly difficult thing to do at Mannion’s. They serve fries on their menu, but since it’s not an appetizer or a side option they won’t do it. I’ve been told their menu is fixed and that the staff is powerless with the kitchen in this regard. As for the beer and martinis, beer is beer and the martini was very good. It was light on the vermouth and not too dirty.
