This place seriously has it all. From pasta, pizza, wings, sandwiches and salads… There is something anyone would like. Honestly, my impression of places that do so many different types of foods is that they will all be really OK. I went with a salad and wings and both were very good! The only thing to keep in mind is the seating is limited and there are no bathrooms available. Which is disturbingly common for this area anyway. Good prices too.

I waited far too long to try Mama Gina’s for the first time. I love this place. It’s greasy pizza, but in the best possible way. All of the components – the sauce, the crust, the cheese – are tasty, and the prices are excellent. The calzones are addictive(the sauce is so, so delicious), and they have a solid chicken parm. I live a few blocks away, so I can’t speak to their delivery service; but for dine-in and pickup, the counter staff have always been super friendly. A few of them may appear to have sad resting faces(I’ve been accused of the same many times, so I can relate), but don’t be fooled. They’re nice people! They have a credit card minimum of $ 10, which can be a problem when their pizza by the slice deals are so cheap, and I wouldn’t mind if they were open a little bit later. But still, five stars. Highly, highly recommended.

Been ordering here for a good three(3) years now, felt like it was time for a review. Al Capone is top notch(you have to ask for lettuce & tomato). Chicken kebab plate with rice always hits the spot! Awesome service unless you call on off hours… then you get the B-Squad with an attitude. NEVER order a large pizza, unless you like your pizza soggy. Go medium and you will not be disappointed.

My solid go-to pizza place in Union Sq. I used to get a slice or two on my lunch break while working over at Union Sq Donuts. It was fast, they were friendly, and the pizza was good. They deliver but it’s a short brisk walk from my apartment so I hardly mind. Definitely recommend for solid well priced pizza!

Got a large Sicilian pizza delivered and it was fantastic! Will definitely have Mama Gina’s be my go to for pizza delivery going forward.

This food was awful! The pizza was sort of ok but the spaghetti was not — meatballs were totally packaged frozen and reheated– for a place to be called mama Gino’s, doesn’t seem like mama is cooking.

The worlds best pizza. So good. I love it. I think everyone should come here. It would be good if they could expand. Well the small businesses ate better than the big franchises.

Great pizza, the crust is nice and crispy. They also have good wraps and sandwiches.

I ordered delivery and the food was really cold by the time I got it. It tasted good but I don’t suggest getting it delivered.

I just was delivered a zero– star pizza. Paper thin and rock hard. Literally as tough as beef jerky. I think this pizza was probably left over from yesterday and put back into the oven today. Worst pizza I’ve ever had in my life.

Good pizza. Better option than a lot of places around the area. Haven’t tried anything else on the menu… yet

Good pizza and excellent buffalo wings. I can’t believe how well the wings held up as they were delivered to me on a sultry summer night. They were so good! Reminded me of Buff’s in Newton. Pizza was good, could have been hotter and less cheese(as I specified when I ordered). Already had Mama Gina’s twice this week!

I rarely turn down pizza, but Mama Gina’s was so greasy and bland that I had zero desire for a second slice. The cheese layer somehow managed to be both absurdly thick and heavy, and completely flavorless. Instead of being gooey, the cheese had an unappealing, curd-like texture, which you can kind of see in others’ photos. Similarly, the tomato sauce and crust didn’t add anything. Eating this pizza was a bizarre sensory experience, because although my eyes and nose were telling me «Pizza, yum!», my mouth was just… static. Maybe toppings usually mask the disappointing texture and flavor? I still give Mama Gina’s 2 stars because it’s relatively cheap(at around $ 11 for a large cheese pizza) and not outright offensive. I’ll have to try Beacon Street Pizza(formerly Dial-a-Pizza)‘s equally priced product for a decisive verdict on cheap, bad Somerville pizza.

I’m obsessed with the BLTs. I’ve never had their pizza, but if it’s half as good as the BLT, I’ll be a happy camper. I just wished they had Diet Coke.

Mama Gina’s is my go to place for subs. My fiancé LOVES their Italian sub. When you ask for everything plus the hots, you get everything. I order steak and cheeses from here. If they ask you if you want everything, they also mean everything,(ie lettuce, tomato, hots, etc) not just steak bomb ingredients, which are peppers mushroom & onions. Be warned to be clear when ordering. I have also ordered Meatball subs and chicken wraps from here. It is a great little neighborhood place for delivery and take out.

I like this place– have ordered from here a few times now and it’s not the best but pretty good. The pizza is decent and I like that their tuna isn’t too wet so you won’t get a watery wrap! I’m told their chicken subs are quite good. Their fries are bad though. The people are all very nice.

A-OK is a good assessment of Mama Gina’s. I grew up eating Papa Gino’s, so I was drawn to Papa’s spouse(probably no relation) after biking through Somerville. It is a typical and very casual pizza place on a street corner in the heart of Union Square. There are plastic letter menu-signs above the counter and you can see the oven. I ordered two slices of Sicilian(cheese and pepperoni), and I was glad I went for Sicilian over the traditional thin crust. The crust of the sicilian was a good mix of fluffy, buttery, and crunchy that you don’t see to often in your local pizza place. The thin crust is also not your average greek-style, but instead seems more italian and of higher-quality and less greasy than competitors in the area. Now that I live in the area, I will probably call upon Mama Gina’s for my pizza runs as well as delivery in the future. I iniatially planned to try an adjacent Union Sq. pizza place, but once I saw a «we serve Indian food» sign in their window — I was skeptical and thus I kept walking on. I was happy that I found Mama Gina’s, and will return sometime soon.

Great Calzones. Great Pizza, great Sandwiches. Mama Gina’s has everything you could possibly want in a cornerstone Italian store. As I said above, the Pizza, Calzones and Sandwiches are excellent. The service is super speedy and it is in a great and convenient location. Most of all Mama Gina’s has a nice combination of creativity and delicious food. For example they have a great and wide range of different calzone options. They even have an italian sub calzone, which is out of this world.

I’ve ordered from here probably six dozen times over the years. This past year or so the quality of service & food have both diminished greatly. The last two times I’ve ordered the food has taken over an hour to arrive despite my office being located probably only a half mile away. When I called to ask if the driver had left yet the woman said, «he should be there now,» which, I disagreed. He should have been here 45 minutes ago. They are always tipped nicely & I ordered during a low-volume time period. Attached is a photo of my «tuna» sub. What is it? I threw it away immediately.
