I usually have a good experience here, but recently have come to question the freshness of ingredients at this location. Today the milk creamer didn’t seem fresh(I overheard another woman comment on a disgusting layer of film when pouring soy milk into a cup… the staff mentioned«it was fine.») I also ordered a Newport Turkey sandwich and parts of the avocado were black(not dark green or slightly discolored from oxygenation but straight-up-disgusting-rotten avocado). The sandwich was also lathered in an unreasonable amount of honey mustard sauce, which makes me wonder what color the turkey was in earnest. Wasted my money on a terrible lunch today and do not think I will be back.

Right next to Davis Sqaure T station, and is a nice spot to stop in the grab quick coffee or a cookie. They have decent sandwiches, and outdoor seating for nicer weather.

The ABP at Davis Square is somewhat sub par. Pros: –internet available* –prices are reasonable –almost always some seating –opens very early(6 am) –good selection of roasts, all strong Cons: –lots of old and homeless people hanging out –atmosphere is not very good –internet is slow to the point of unusability –food is very, very average If visiting, consider getting the cinnemon twist, or one of the apple croissants for breakfast.

I only ever come before getting on the T to school. Service is very fast. Customer service is great. Food is always consistent. I don’t usually change up my breakfast routine here. It’s always the sausage egg and cheese plain bagel and a coffee to go. The coffee is great; always fresh in the morning hours. My sandwich has beer let me down either. It’s filling inexpensive and stays warm until I arrive on campus(about 35 mins later). This place definitely serves only a very specific purpose for me, so I wouldn’t let this review reflect on anything other breakfast time!

With so many better options around — why? I’ve never been a fan of ABP’s coffee… their asiago and pepper bagel is good toasted but there’s nothing to see here

Au Bön Pain is never my favorite chain and should never be picked over Panera, however thus I’ve is particularly bad. Mostly because the food is already not that good and on top of that, they don’t make your salad fresh. This might be a perk during busy lunch hours, but most places have pre made and fresh made. Just annoying.

Horrible, Horrible, Horrible. I’m signing up on Unilocal today just to give this review. After waiting 10 minutes to place my sandwich order at Noon time(Lunch). No other person was in line waiting for a sandwich or to order one, other then me. Told they were out of onions. OK, things happen. Young man started making my sandwich with ingredients I didn’t want and asked for them not to be put on my sandwich. Fine, he took them off. Used, another bread I didn’t want. Fine, changed bread. Then, the straw. All I wanted was A Tuna sandwich. After all this and actually watching him start the sandwich over and over again. I was told the Tuna was frozen and unavailable. What happened to the day where food was fresh at Au Bön Pain. How much management experience does one need to plan to have onions and to make sure the Tuna isn’t frozen for Lunch time. No apology from the manager. Only an offer for a Chicken Salad sandwich. I told him if I wanted Chicken Salad, I would of ordered it. I went to Mikes in Davis square and got a Tuna sub, perfectly made. Very sad day when a great restaurant once known for giving a great product is finished.

I love Au Bön Pain. This one is okay. Their danishes are great. Sandwiches are pretty good. You usually have to wait for the staff to become available to check out, which is a pain when you’re in a rush. Once there was a piece of plastic and hair in my danish though.

This Au Bön Pain is well located by the Davis Square T station and the start of the Minuteman Bike Trail, with a welcoming outdoor café in warmer months. The layout of the coffee and baked goods selections is very clear, the sandwich service is swift and complete, and the vegetarian sandwiches are some of the best you’ll ever taste. Lots of good seating, too, with great street views. The free Wi-Fi, the delicious baked goods(I especially love their chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin cookies and their carrot and triple-chocolate muffins), and some of the best coffee in town are other reasons to visit Au Bön Pain in Davis Square. «Bön,» indeed!

Its pretty good, but too expensive. For those prices I expect excellent food.

The good: coffee in your own mug is about $ 1.20. Cheapest lox sandwich around. The bad: Sometimes, ordering is like playing a game of «Who’s on First.» Good luck ordering two«two-egg sandwiches.» And if you want a bagel and just cream cheese, make sure to ask them not to butter the bagel first.

No Stars! It must be corporate policy to hire the rudest staff and then not train them.

I won’t lie. The only reason I walked into Au Bön Pain when I first got to Davis Station was because I really, really needed to pee. When I walked in, the manager smiled and said, «Hello!» I said, «Hi!» I walked to the bathroom. There was a sign on the door that read, «Restrooms reserved for customers only!» I was more than willing to pay to use the facilities. However, I decided to test the staff on their bathroom policy anyway. I approached the manager and asked if I could have the key to go to the bathroom. He said, «Sure, here you go!» and handed me the key. Very nice of him. Then I relieved myself. It was great. No one in there could have possibly guessed how awesome it felt. The manager thought it was really weird that I hadn’t even entered the bathroom and had just peed my pants in front of him while holding the key.(Just kidding about that last part.) I bought a coffee afterwards — French Roast. With soy milk. Because I’m French-Canadian and I wanted to feel cool for a few minutes. I bought it and it was cheap. I went to drink it outside in Davis Square and as soon as the coffee hit my lips it felt like everything was okay. And everything was okay.

I have been to a lot of Au Bön Pains across MA and NY. I can say with confidence that this is by far the worst example of this establishment I have ever encountered. Au Bön Pain should be ashamed of themselves to allow this prominent location to carry their name!

Nice selection, not super healthy though, pricey, and could be a lot cleaner. Good location, nice staff.

I figured I’d try this place because it’s crazy convenient(on my walk to the T). So, I buy an iced coffee. When I buy an iced coffee, I basically expect it to A. Be cold, and B. Taste like coffee. This does not happen when, as the counter girl explained to my confused face, «We had to make more real fast so we just put a ton of ice in there.» And…never going back. Incompetence surrounding my morning caffeine fix is almost an unforgivable thing for me right now.

Honestly, you probably know what you’re getting into when you walk into an Au Bön Pain. And if you don’t, you’ll probably get exactly what you should have expected looking at the slightly(slightly) upscale semi-fast-food sandwich+pastry eatery. The food is fine. It’s not great, but it could definitely be worse. A lot worse. Ambience is cafeteria chic with an outdoor patio as an added bonus for the few months of the year it’s actually pleasant to be outside. The lemonade is refreshing. The iced coffee is often warm. That, however, is mostly a review of the chain in general. What kicks this location up to three stars(the A-OK, rather than meh), is that it’s always a ghost town in there. This is one of two Au Bön Pains I pass every day on my way to work, and the same sandwich transaction that would easily take me 20 minutes to order, have prepared, and check out with, will never take me more than 5 here. And since the employees aren’t insanely overworked by a continuous breakfast-lunch downtown crush, you can see that glimmer in their eyes that speaks to a soul which has not yet been entirely beaten out of them. Awesome.

Totally unsatisfied. 1. I just stopped by for lunch. I’ve usually had good food at ABP, but this one is heinous. I had a «spicy tuna» sandwich. For $ 6.29, it was two skinny pieces of rye bread, a little bland tuna salad, and two tomatoes. No chips, no cheese, just totally bland and boring. And way overpriced. 2. Cup of coffee — had it here many times. I don’t know why i expected good coffee, maybe some association with the french from the FRENCH title and the word«bon» in the title. Totally disappointed every time. Dunkin and Starbucks make better coffee. 3. Puddles on the floor. I don’t know if that puddle came from a customer or from the ice machine but the workers just left it there. Whatever, this place sucks. I’m not eating there again. I need another sandwich from Deli-cious around the corner to balance out the misery in my mouth this abp caused.

I went to get iced coffee and a croissant. I apologize for wanting ICE in that disgusting piss warm«coffee» that tasted like the glue used to keep the gross cup together(hence everywhere else using PLASTIC cups) and a PLATE for my croissant so I did not have to eat it out of my bare hand. The employees made it seem like they went especially out of their way to get me this things(ice, plate). Although I thanked them for their assistance it was amazing how difficult it was to get their attention and have them understand that these were things that really should not have been special requests. It was early on Saturday and not busy. Not going back ever. And the croissant was dry. Ugh.
