Clay Haus

Excellent food. Went during the Sunday buffet and we will definitely be back! The friend chicken was the best tasting I’ve ever had! I didn’t have anything off the buffet that wasn’t absolutely divine! Great look and old feel.

walked in on a whim and discovered a gem. they have a great Sunday lunch buffet and THE best service. the hand picked line of beers was impressive too.

Wife and I drove the 30 miles this evening to try out the Clay Haus restaurant after passing by it earlier this week and viewing the few reviews that had been made on Unilocal — all very positive!
We arrived at the early 1800’s structure at it’s 4:00 pm evening opening time and was immediately seated. It was very cold outside, but very comfortable inside. The facility is very historic, and is furnished very appropriate. Let’s get down to the food!
I had the 12 oz ribeye, German potato salad, and their bean soup and salad from the salad/​soup bar. The wife had their version of a chicken pot pie, and the bean soup and salad. We split a cream puff for desert and took another one home for later. The food was GREAT! Maybe the best all round meal we’ve had since moving to Ohio from Louisiana nearly 2 ½ years ago.
The food gets a 5 rating from both of us! Not one item rated less then a solid 5 from either of us! What great food and very reasonably priced! The waiter was great and spent adequate time with us to give us first time experience information about the food and facility. The service gets a 5 rating as well. The food a 5, the facility a 5, the staff a 5 and the value a solid 5 equates to a great dining experience and a deserving 5 rating.
When will we go back to the Clay Haus? The next time we want another special dining experience. I can’t wait!
UPDATE: Stopped in for the Sunday buffet yesterday and it was great! The homemade noddles were to die for! I rate the meal I had yesterday was in my top 5 of all times for a buffet meal! Very well done at a very reasonable price.

Been here twice now. Nice soup and salad buffet. We’ve gotten a few of the steaks now and they were cooked perfectly! Very cute place

Definitely stop here if you’re going thru somerset. The chicken fruit salad is one of my faves! All dinners come with soup n salad bar and the Sunday buffet is awesome. German potato salad… soup n a bread bowl… Rubens. monte Carlos.steaks…burgers.pasta…tons of german dishes… and plenty of HOMEMADE deserts. Yum! If available, try the giant cream puffs! They offer wine from their favorite ohio winery and plenty of beer choices too! And to top it all off, the place is soo historical some say its haunted! They even have separate dining areas where u can have private parties! The owner of the place is so kind and worthy of your business and the service is on point. You can even walk around and look at all the antiques and photos on display. If you’re going on a holiday be sure to call for a reservation;)
