April 26th, 2014. This year will be the 26th annual City of Somers Point Bayfest Celebration. With over 14 blocks to stroll, over 120 crafters, 38 food vendors, 15 children activities, 4 live musical bands, and bicycle and kayak giveaways, there will certainly something for everybody. Located all along Bay Avenue in Somers Point, NJ this local festival occurs annually and draws a large crowd to the area to kick off the start of Spring and enjoy the nice weather. It is the largest single day festival in South Jersey. Bars and restaurants along the street will be open and serving food and beverages. The Anchorage features an outdoor block party and other Somers Point bars such as Clancy’s, Caroline’s, Gregory’s, Charlies, etc. also have featured specials. Bay Ave Sushi and The Clam Bar are also BYO locations nearby. Personally I like to snack on the festival food like funnel cake, cotton candy, gyros, crabcakes, burgers, pizza, or butterfly fries and then grab a cold beer at one of the neighboring bars. Bayfest usually held on a Saturday at the end of April– rain or shine from 10 am– 5pm, check their website to find out the upcoming dates. There are plenty of fine hotels and motels in Somers Point that are close to Historic Bay Avenure and the 2014 Bayfest.
