A lot to look at! This is a store particularly for the kid at heart shopper. Be careful not to touch anything you’re not willing to purchase. Especially those prized fairy collections. The fairy village is a precious sight. Though this is a spot for grabbing a gift for a kid or a rare find for the person who has everything I wouldn’t say it’s kid friendly. You have to know who you’re shopping for when here because of the many selections to choose from. The only downside is in this tourist town it’s hard to get the attention of staff-they are pulled in just too many directions. It would be nice if the website was more complete for a good depiction of the treasures available at the fingertips. It would also be nice if orders could be placed online because unless one lives in Solvang the chances of coming back to get that one thing is slim. It’s the Etsy of Solvang.

Cute little gift shop. It’s not really necessarily«Danish» but if you want something cute to bring home to a friend or family member, this is a nice place to stop. As a previous reviewer said, it *is* a «chick shop.» Jewelry, hair doodads, soaps, dolls, tea sets, magnets, garden items… all pretty girly. And mostly affordable. Service was nice, and pretty efficient.

They get an extra mark for a pendant watch that I fell in love with. The store has a myriad of porcelain dolls and Scandinavian souvenirs. I look every where for the pendant watches, as I can no longer wear a wrist watch. This was one of the rare places I have found them. And I have gotten all kinds of compliments on the watch I chose. The sales clerk told me they are very popular with the customers.

Edelweiss is my favorite shop in downtown Solvang. I go in every time I’m nearby, and after many years of pleading I finally got a little tiara from there for my 16th birthday(oh yes, a tiara) It’s beautiful! Their tiara case is killer for any princess-at-heart, but they have a lot of other fun things as well – nicknacks and cards and hair accessories… and the most beautiful small/medium sized chandeliers on the ceiling. It’s a great shop to poke your head into if you’re wandering the area.

Caveat Emptor… the«E» in Edelweiss stands for«Extortion.» Simply put, if you’re thinking of buying gifts and souveniers here when you’re in Solvang… DON’T. The nightlight you just paid $ 31 for? You can get the same one at the shop next door for $ 13. Did you just pay $ 99 for a lamp? You can get the same lamp around the corner for $ 25. Gift shop prices in Solvang are pretty standard… most shops have the same stuff, and prices vary by a dollar or two here or there. NOTATEDELWEISS. The minute you enter the shop, you’re in an alternate dimension where fair and reasonable pricing does not apply. I can understand if you mark things up for a few dollars more, but when you’re doubling and tripling your markup to stick it to people, I find it reprehensible. Realize you just got screwed? Don’t try getting a refund — Edelweiss’ «no return, store credit only» policy prevents you from returning merchandise. Plus, what’s the point of exchanging when you’re just getting robbed with a different item? What’s even more insulting is the staff prowling around the store, making sure you don’t break anything. «You break it, you buy it,» signs are hung all over the place. Simply put, just do your homework before buying something at Edelweiss. Odds are you’ll find what you want at another shop in Solvang for half the price!

LOVEIT! Bought the last little glass humming bird this weekend, ran me $ 2 but it was worth it. Cant really say anything back other than it is a bit over priced but then again I think this is probably due to the fact that this isnt a frequented town and rent is due monthly! ^_^ I will be coming back though to pick up a few things that did catch my eye!

Incredibly poor customer service(and quality of goods sold). A friend of mine had been looking for a certain piece of jewelry — not something expensive, but something she anticipated would last her a little while and perhaps be good for various concerts she sings at. We purchased such an item at Edelweiss, she put it on, and we walked out of the store, and browsed some nearby shops for 30 – 40 minutes. As we walked down the street, the jewelry literally broke and fell off. Not due to any sort of craziness on our part — it was shoddy workmanship, and shouldn’t have been sold to begin with. We brought it back to the store and they refused to refund. We understand how store policy works — exchanges and store credit are common — but we’re out of towners and it’s useless for us to exchange a shoddy piece of jewelry for another shoddier piece of jewelry. What’s the point? We brought it back within an hour of purchase, and were clearly not the type to be running around breaking things; we were simply passing through and browsing shops. Perhaps we’d even have spent some of the refund on something non-breakable there, but the amount of the purchase made it ludicrous for us to get store credit and even more ridiculous to get an exchange. The manager, hiding out somewhere in the back, would only OK a credit or exchange, even after the explanation. So — buyer be warned. Their products are poor, and their service worse. Sad, as we were so enjoying the other parts of Solvang we got to explore — an otherwise charming area. We recommend many other places there, just run far from this one!

Solvang is one of the wife an my’s little«getaway spots». We try to hit the place up at least twice a year… and Edelwiess is a perennial favorite shop-stop! I’ll be honest here… its primarily a chick store. Most of the merchandise within caters to the cute, kitchy, blingly tastes of women; so in that respect its a nice place to bring your wife, gf or mom. Its not overly man-unfriendly, however. There’s a cool selection of typical Solvang souveniers as well as wall-clocks and. usually in the back… a garden section to find ornaments and small statuary, etc. Prices are what you’d expect… expensive on some things but decent on others, especially if there’s a sale going on. The staff is friendly and helpful. I give it 4 stars for selection, friendliness of staff and the fact that its a great place to direct the lady in yer life towards to keep them busy when your down the street at Vinhus! Normally this place woul get 3.5 stars but their staying power earns them the extra bit!

This store has some cool things, and not just your typical Solvang souvenir clogs and ceramic windmills. I have been looking for a non-cheesy, non-Tinkerbell fairy charm since I lost mine about 6 or 7 years ago. I finally found one here for a decent price of $ 14. If I had not been looking for this thing for so long, I would have walked right out. There were two young girls working when I was in there, and boy do they need to be replaced! I found the fairy charms and stood there for a few minutes waiting for one of said girls to unlock the case for me. One stood there with her thumb in her butt, while the other swooned over an adorably cute gay couple buying lots of ugly glass vases. I walked away and perused the rest of the store, then returned to the counter hoping that I might get help this time. I stood on one side of the counter, trying to catch the attention of one of the employees. I then moved to the other side of the counter. Finally, one girl opened the case and I found a charm that would suffice. I hand it to the girl, who then informs me that she’s not trained to work on the register yet. I would have to wait for the other girl to ring me up. Common sense would tell me that the girl not trained on the register should take over wrapping the precious glass for the two men so that the other girl can ring me up. Instead, they both continued to wrap. Finally, the one that could work the register did stop wrapping… but not to ring me up. She stopped so she could ring someone else up, someone that had JUST walked up to the counter. After that person finished writing their check, she finally helped me. Granted she did apologize for the wait, but used the excuse that those men had just spent over $ 500 in their store, so she needed to treat them well. Back when I worked in retail, I always held the policy that all customers are important, even if they are only spending $ 15. I did point out to her that someone else had just walked into the store, and asked if she would like to go help them first, they looked like they might have more money than I do. Like I said, if I hadn’t been looking for the fairy charm for so long, I would have walked out. I surely won’t be back.

Same overpriced junk you can get at Claire’s and the staff kept staring at me like I was a shoplifter. Fun.

Joke! What a joke! 10 years ago when this was the ONLY halfway-decent halfway-cool jewelry shop for miles and miles, it was ALMOST ok to go to. Now, you can go to somewhere in some mall and get the same mass-produced-in-China thing for 1⁄3 of the price. Again though be nice to the person behind the counter because that could have been my friend Beth. If it was 10 years ago. Important fact is that they evaluate your handwriting if you apply to work here. Those little handwritten cards don’t write themselves.

This store is adorable! Definitely make a stop here if you are ever in kitchy cool Solvang. They have tons of cute gifts, lots of handmade affordable jewelry, many fabulous hairclips in every color. Also, a linen shop in back and an outdoor area with garden accessories.
