this is a great place if you think that fancy technology, high pressure sales, and reality tv-star personality flaws makes a good dentist. i switched to this dentist because my new insurance didn’t cover my old dentist, but now i’m switching back. on my first visit, they were annoyed i turned down the $$ xrays and told me i needed braces. annoying, but no biggie. the front desk is impatient and impersonal. the good dental hygenist’s didn’t stay and they kept the one with a pervasive personality disorder. i think most everyone worked there was miserable. not what i was used to and singularly, ok. add it with the above and it’s a little more than annoying. after an appointment where i was getting some cavities filled, dr. rose called me a bitch and a broad all within 5 minutes, and in a normal conversational tone and setting. i then better understood why they may have been miserable there. there was no context for this to be acceptable. luckily for him, i’m not that sensitive. but at the same time, i don’t take kindly to people checking the boundaries of what is acceptable behavior with a) a ‘professional’ of his ‘stature’ and b) someone who doesn’t know me at all and makes an assumption that they do. i’m simply going to write a public review and take my money elsewhere. so i’m going back to my old dentist who is not covered entirely by my insurance, but i was greeted every single time with a smile, a compliment and a warm welcome by name. i had hygenists that told funny stories and at the very least, feigned interest in how my day/job/life might be going. they have tv’s that play relaxing music and nature scenes. at first i thought it was hokey, but i realized it actually really did relax me. and because i go to the dentist for the care of my teeth, and not necessarily their bedside manner, they excelled in that as well.(thanks to the dental offices of dr. silk — seriously, who ever misses their dentist? i did, apparently)

Eh, my mistake. I probably shouldn’t have been going to an oral surgeon/dentist in the first place. The reason they’re getting two stars is because I always felt I was getting hustled. Want some unnecessary but strangely high margin x-rays? Come on in! Want to be encouraged to get a teeth whitening every time you’re there? Come on down! Want to have your girlfriend told her migraines are OFCOURSE the result of TMJ and that expensive procedures will instantly fix the problem? You’re welcome here! In the end, it was feeling like they view their everyday cleanings and non-upgradeable-service seekers as a necessary evil, something they have to get done so they can move on to the procedures that will really rake it in. Perhaps that’s overly pessimistic, especially since I was the one to go to an oral surgeon for routine dental service. On the plus sides: their hygienists are very capable and nice, Dr. Rose is very professional, they are close to my home and work and you get a nice goodie bag your first time going there(though the bag contains a coffee mug… talk about mixed messages!). So my final word would be… don’t go here if you just want a dentist. If you want oral surgery type stuff… well, get a different review.
