Exceptionally long wait(over an hour.) Slow service. Rude server. Bathroom in the kitchen’s dishwashing area. The food was good, but there are other places to get good food. It’s all perspective, but breakfast out should not be the most stressful part of the day.

Awesome awesome awesome, the pineapple pancakes were cooked perfectly, chewy and caramelized. The crab cake Benedict was equally as good!

This may be my new favorite breakfast spot. Friendly service, fun laid back environment, and deliciously fresh food. The salmon omelette and French toast were delightful. Even the homemade jasmine green tea and hot sauce were great! Health conscious, fresh food that packs a flavor punch! I wish I could have tried everything on the menu. This is the perfect place to spend a Sunday morning with friends! Cheers!

Cute place came here with a friend last week. We got the crab benedict and the No 3 scramble. The benedict was really good and the hollandaise perfect. The scramble on the other hand was slightly bland and I had to put a lot of hot sauce and ketchup on it. But that may just be me.

We came here on a Sunday. They told us the wait would be 20 minutes. We waited one hour. We asked if we could get drinks after waiting 10 minutes. The server rudely screamed at my friend in front of everyone«I’m waiting on a few other tables first». Last, our server told us she could only split the check 3 ways when there were four of us. Overall, not the best experience while ending our vacation.

This place was awesome! I usually don’t like pancakes. But somebody told me that their pancakes were different and they truly were out of this world! I got the pineapple upside down pancakes, and I have been thinking about how I want more all day! Their muffins are huge too if you are a muffin person. The line is a little long. I went on a Sunday morning. My friends and I waited about 30 minutes for a table of three. They have free coffee while you wait. This place is also very dog friendly. I will hands down be ordering more pancakes the next time I go back.

The food was very good, but there are so many amazing brunch options in the area that it makes me a little hesitant to give it more than three stars. If you are looking for something easy, maybe you have some children in your group, this is a good spot that’s not too fancy. The omlette’s were amazing, and they make their own turkey chorizo in-house which is why I just decided I’m upping it to 4 stars.

The service here was really fast & friendly as me and my group were seated right away even though it was pretty busy. We got our food really fast and everything was served in big portions for a reasonable price. We were in and out within the hour. Will definitely be back again.

My grandfather used to say that breakfast was a great way to start the day. He liked it simple, pancakes, sausage, syrup on everything, and a carafe of juice to go with it. I miss having chorizo at his house in the morning. Anyway, Beach Grass Café would be the kind of place he would scoff at. Almost everything on the menu is a step past traditional. For every Breakfast Burrito, there’s a Fried Rice and Yam Scramble or Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese Omelette alongside it. Most times, I don’t mind a little creativity in what I eat, but I do question the wisdom of being able to get a Blue Corn Pancake with Pineapple and Chocolate Chips. So, we came here with a group of Unilocal friends for a Badge Buster Breakfast, about 20+ of us around four tables. Beach Grass was nice and accommodating giving us room outside and having multiple waiters help us in turn. I had the Turkey Chorizo Omletet, which was tasty enough, though a bit dry; this is to be expected though when using turkey instead of pork. It was served with a quarter of an avocado, thickly sliced, a side of fruit, and wheat toast. All of it was okay, if not uninspired, simple and alright. My biggest problem was the level of burn on the omelet itself, the whole of it being a bit rubbery while drying it out even more than it could or should have been. There was little, to no spice in it, aside from the flavor of the chorizo, with only the flavors of the onions and salsa coming through in any real way. Also on my plate was half-order of the Maple, Bacon, & Cheddar Pancakes; this was one of those items I had to try for myself. Over at Hash House, they have a habit of sticking candy bars in their pancakes, so I was curious about Beach Grass’ own deviation from the norm. The bacon was mixed into the cake, crumbled and dry of oil, it was all salt and a little sweet. The cheddar was sprinkled on one side and seared into the breading to the point where it was a little burned and chewy. I’m not sure if it would have been better hot and melting, but it was a bit off-putting served as a kind of shell across the top of the pancake. All in all, fair taste that was difficult to eat. My lovely lady had the Two Eggs Any Style(Scrambled), with a Side of Potatoes, Wheat Toast, and Bacon. She had no complaints, but had nothing more to say about her breakfast other than a kind shrug and a light smile. She didn’t find the potatoes disgusting, which is always a bonus as many places can be a bit of a crap shoot, and everything else was typical diner fare. My son had their Silly Face Buttermilk Pancake, something he loved when they put it down in front of him, and enjoyed eating all of with glee. When we left, a line was stretched out the door, people waiting in the alcoves of nearby businesses, for their names to be called, and I left wondering why. Nothing really stood out, aside from the great company, and nothing left us with a drive to come back any time soon. As far as breakfast nooks go, it was good for the scenery, but just alright for the food. Oh, and on a side note, they do allow dogs here, so be mindful of that. Most people think nothing of rubbing their pets behind the ears as loose fur flies around onto unsuspecting scrambles. Even though it was great to hang out with some Unilocal friends, I do think the best part of the morning was when a guy had tied his large dog to his chair and, when he got up, the dog immediately took off, chasing a woman at the next table over for a loose bit of sausage, while dragging the chair, scraping loudly, behind him. God, people are stupid…

Super cute and little place located in the 101 in Solana Beach. It can be a little hard to find if you are just driving along and parking can be a bit hard if you don’t turn in the right spot. There’s street parking here, but there’s a small little alley where you can park in the park, but like I said, if are you going, you can miss it. I came with some friends the other day and had an awesome time. I ordered the Crab Cake Benedict without tomatoes and a side of sausage. I had a great breakfast. Awesome and delicious. The eggs for the benedict were cooked to perfectly and I felt like had the right amount of jiggle to them. HA. The crab was awesome, I wish it were a little more crusted, and and breaded. The crab cake was in a circle shape but it was a little mushy for me. Breading a crab cake is kinda a must and I fell like the flavors and texture can help. Maybe it can bring a whole different element to the benedict world. I really was sadden when I ordered my side sausage and I got a sausage that was sliced down the middle and then was charged $ 3 for this. I was really hoping for more sausages for being charged $ 3 but getting a regular sausage being cut down the middle and then thrown on the grill made me really really sad.

I came here this morning, defintely a quaint little café. There was a lot of two hour parking spots available. The staff, the food, and the location is top notch. I ordered the monte christo, super good. I usually do not order tihe monte christo, not of fan of fried food. However, this was created in a french toast style, so there was not a lot of oil or grease. YAY! The ham, the guyere cheese, and the blackberry perserves were great. I wanted something light and tasty. I sat outside amongst other fellow Unilocalers, we all had a great time. The benedicts and the polenta looked great. Also the majority of people choose pancakes. Honestly, they looked really good. We all sat outside and there was a heat source provided for the cool beach breeze. Will come back with Hubbs. I would like to order a bene and some pancakes. Coffee was good, there are a plethora of beverages… I just needed a coffee. Hope to come back soon!

A fantastic breakfast/brunch spot, with great friendly service and good food. The turkey chorizo omelet was delicious and not greasy like it sometimes can be with chorizo. The potatoes on the side could use some seasoning. Dont forget to try some of the spicy table sauce; it has a great smokey flavor and goes well with the chorizo omelet.

We were in search of a great brunch location to enjoy our first New Years meal and we found this little gem! It was a packed house, we walked straight inside and we got seated immediately. We were seated outside but the heaters made it very comfortable. Dog friendly! Everyone had their dogs out today. I ordered the crab cake eggs benedict with potatoes and toast. My boyfriend ordered a monte cristo sandwich with fruit and house made jam. Wow, I have to say this was one of my favorite styles of eggs benedict. The egg was poached to perfection and the crab meat was fresh. The potatoes were a little under seasoned but it was still good. I’m not a fan of monte cristo’s but the one here was pretty good. My boyfriend loved it. Customer service was excellent, they were on point with everything. Food was quick and waitress was really nice. They also offer free coffee at the front while you wait in line. First time here and it surely won’t be the last.

I was in the Solana Beach area with some friends so we stopped in here for brunch. It’s a small café on Hwy 101. We were sat outside in the front patio seating area. The menu had a lot of yummy choices. I was torn between getting a scramble, an omelet or eggs benedict. I ended up choosing the veggie benedict with spinach, tomato and avocado which came with potatoes. It took awhile to get our food. Not sure if it was because there were 5 of us or if that was the typical wait. I’d have to say I wish I ordered something else. The veggie benedict was pretty soggy, which heat to spinach usually does. My poached eggs and spinach were both watery. The scrambles and omelets looked really good. Everything on the menu has healthy recipes.

I’ve been coming here for 20 years and two words can easily describe this place: consistently good! I’m a big breakfast person and although I’ve been going here for years, I haven’t been in awhile and decided to try them out again today for a review. They have both indoor and outdoor dining and they are generally pretty busy. Today we were told it would be a 20 minute wait and it wasn’t even that long. They have coffee to enjoy while waiting. The inside dining area is nice and comfortable and not too noisy. Very easy to carry on a conversation with someone even if the place is full. Right after I was seated my server came and took my drink order. I am a fanatic about iced tea and they have regular and a peach flavored iced tea. I decided to try something different and went with the peach iced tea… it is amazing! I love fruit flavored unsweetened iced teas. To eat I started off with the porridge that comes with brown rice, oats, chopped pieces of apple and made with honey although it seemed to have the slightest hint of brown sugar. I ordered this as a starter but when they brought it out, it was a huge bowl! It’s enough for two people so if you want a starter and you are with someone go ahead and order this and share. Otherwise, if you do order, it’s plenty for a meal in itself. I also ordered my classic egg whites with spinach, mushrooms and feta cheese. This is the first place I’ve been to that actually had this on the menu… minus the spinach but they added the spinach for me. I also ordered it with sourdough toast and the potatoes. Another thing I like about this place is they don’t try and rush you. I was afraid my eggs were going to come out while I was eating the porridge, but after a bit I realized they were going to time the delivery of the next dish perfectly and I was able to enjoy without feeling rushed. When they brought out the eggs, it was hot and fresh and it looked like about 3 or 4 eggs. The egg whites were good but just a bit overcooked. Maybe need to tell them to cook them soft next time. But plenty of mushrooms, spinach and cheese. The sourdough toast was excellent but unfortunately they only serve one slice. I’m certain they would give another slice if asked, but it just doesn’t make sense to serve this massive egg dish with only one piece of toast. And the potatoes were amazing! Cooked perfectly with a bit of seasoning and cooked with fresh veggies. Best potatoes I’ve had out of any breakfast place! Overall this is a great place for breakfast and I highly recommend it. If you are having scrambled I would ask them to make them soft because they cook them just a bit too much and if you are like me and like to bite into toast with your eggs, order two slices because I ran out of the one slice they gave before I ate even half of the eggs they served. The food is very fresh and they clearly take pride in their quality as well as the service. Everyone from the hostess to the server to the busboys were very nice refilling my tea, bringing out my meal while it was still hot and the server was busy. And best of all, a very relaxing time without feeling rushed. Undoubtedly the rest of their must be equally good but for breakfast, there are few that do it any better.

Really enjoyed breakfast at this place this morning. We were there at 9am on a Sat and there wasn’t a line like at most breakfast places around town. Makes me almost not want to write a good review so it doesn’t get too popular… LOL. Can’t wait to come back here!!! There are a lot of dishes on the menu that I wanted to try. I eventually settled on the No 5 scramble with Lemon Ricotta Blueberry pancakes(instead of toast) and fruit. There was a $ 3 up charge since I substituted pancakes. Normally you get to choose 2 side(potatoes, fruit or toast) with the scramble. The scramble and the pancake was awesome! The scramble had turkey chorizo, avocado, tomatoes, spinach, and cheese. Perfectly balanced with veggies and meat. Chorizo was really good, not too spicy but lots of good flavor. The pancake had nice sweetness from the lemon ricotta and blueberries. I didn’t even need syrup on it, but there is syrup on the table if you like it sweeter. I also had some coffee. It was darker than I would have liked but still good. Husband had 2 bloody mary and the chilaqittos(?) with red sauce and scrambled eggs. He loved the bloody mary. Came with 3 green olives and bacon. He even shared the bacon with me. It was yummy. Next time we go, I want to try the nutella french toast and a few other dishes. :) Everything sounded so yummy it was really hard to decide what to get. Note: There is parking behind the restaurant. The driveway to it is right before the restaurant. There is street parking but really hard to get out of the parking spots when leaving due to the high volume of bikers and cars on that street.
