As of Feb 222014 Uncle Buds in Smryna is CLOSED! Such a disappointment! No warming nothing. Not sure when they closed their doors. Just want to let everyone know before you make the trip over here

Don’t care for the setup and it took 7 mins for the dude at the counter to ask us what we wanted even though there wasn’t anyone else there nor were they busy. My fish pooboy was not all that good, maybe i will try something else next time but not in a rush to come back.

Grilled catfish here at Uncle Bud“s is okay and the grilled shrimp is better. My dining companion du jour found the grilled chicken flavorful but without oily tenderness of southern fried. The friendly cashier said the cook will grill the seafood if requested, but that the forte of Uncle Bud’s is traditional fried catfish, froglegs and oysters. I was glad to find that soy vegetable oil is used for their frying. Most of the spicing is moderate but more heat can be ordered in some items like the cajun callabash shrimp. Ask for extra sauce for even more heat. For the more adventuresome, wild gator tail can also be had. Salads, clam strips, fried pickle spears, white beans and crispy hushpuppies are other popular items. I noticed a bit of onion in the hushpuppies producing a pleasant warm taste. Overall Uncle Bud’s seafood shack is a simple quick way to experience southern treats like farm raised catfish and wild alligator with no-frills.
