Speakeasy– They were«so called because of the practice of speaking quietly about such a place in public, or when inside it, so as not to alert the police or neighbors.» It would seem that this isn’t being quietly discussed as it was packed when we went there for drinks. That can be deceiving because the space is compact, but it is a perfect date spot. We arrived around 6 on a Saturday and it was first come with the seating so we posted up at a mini bar area behind the bar. There is a decent drink selection and they have a craft cocktail feel to them. You can actually see the bartender cutting oranges and mixing aromatics. The service was friendly that night and the ambiance was perfect for conversation. I’m pretty sure we will be back. My date was impressed that I knew of a «secret» bar where you go through a freezer door. Major date points!

Pretty neat speakeasy. To our surprise, it was totally packed at 9:30PM on a Sunday night. We had a girls night out here just to chill, catch up, and grab drinks. It’s a «first come first serve/sit» basis. So if you see an empty chair, just go for it. The bartenders were nice but I wouldn’t say particularly friendly. The drinks were just okay, pretty standard. Would be cool to see they mix up some more unique drinks. As for the red wine, I’d recommend staying away from it completely. I was not impressed with neither of the two cabs that were on the menu. They were great and let me try it so I ended up getting the bordeux which tasted the best of the three, but also wish I didn’t get it cause it wasn’t really good. It’s a cool place to check out with friends in town — great ambiance — but I’d say drinks are just okay.

I think the secret is out! Living in Smynings, this is one of our go to spots for dinner. For the most part, we always have a wonderful experience. There’s been a couple of times where the service could be a little better(at the tables). This place is usually pretty crowded depending on the night of the week, but we’ve never had a problem getting a table or a couple of seats at the bar. The bartenders are my favorite here! They’re very passionate about their job and are always open to suggesting a drink for you. Old Fashions are A+ here. As for the food, we always order the wings and Pommes Frites with the mayo sauce it comes with. Every fish I have ordered from here has been tasty as well and of course, you have to try their burger at least once.

My favorite Speakeasy!!! James is my favorite bartender EVER!!! So much detail and passion goes into every drink he makes! Thanks to him my fave drink is Miller’s Crossing and I have discovered a new love for good gin. They share the same food as M&T, so this place is always a good choice for dinner & awesome cocktails! The only thing I would change would be to add some lounge or funky music! :)

Very eccentric, local, and fresh menu. Technically, we sat in Eleanor’s but the food was from Muss & Turner’s. Our group enjoyed the wings and Charcuterie appetizers. The beer choices were also diverse and tasty. Our dinner plates ranged from the burger, chicken & dumplings, to the pork loin plates. All were delicious though the chicken & dumplings was a smaller-than-expected portion. Great vibe and atmosphere!

Everything about this place screams COOL! Dark bar behind the restaurant with mirrored windows. I felt like I should have been having a date or roundevous with someone other than my spouse. Music was spot on for weekday lunch. Bar staff felt like family. Bar b q roast beef sandwich was perfectly made. Just can’t believe it is in Smyrna… felt like a small downtown type of place not residential like it’s surroundings. Go there!

A++++++! We stopped in for a quick cocktail, stayed for dinner & dessert. Muss & Turner’s Deli style restaurant in front, then in the back through what seems a secret passage way is Eleanor’s Speakeasy. Classy, Casual, great music, low enough so you can have conversations, great service, drinks food. I had Reuben — be sure to ask for Dijon mustard to kick it up a notch! Nice crisp marbled rye, gooey cheese & corned beef. Not overly salty, I detest overly salted foods. You can request it w fries. Husband ordered steak Tartar, very good & outstanding creamed corn, homemade. I ordered a dark chocolate brownie for dessert & I think I’m in Brownie Heaven! Not frosted, doesn’t need it, dense, moist, not over or under done, outstanding true chocolate flavor, no box mix here!!! Outstanding friendly server, Ryan, who was pleasant & didn’t rush us. Overall this restaurant gets high fives, we’ll be back, more than once, & bring friends! This place would be great for a First Date!

If you can evaluate a local place by the burger they produce, Eleanor’s is a winner. The beer menu is fantastic. The service is top notch. Food prices are reasonable. I’ll go back here without thinking twice when I’m in the area again.

Who doesn’t love a speakeasy, and who doesn’t love a speakeasy in an unassuming suburban shopping center? I walked into Muss & Turner’s for a late lunch, and was told that I was too late for lunch, but could sit at the bar. I searched the restaurant and finally with the hostess made my way to the entrance to this cozy, edgy and cool bar. I snacked on a charcuterie and a glass of rose while chatting with the bartenders. Will definitely be back. Great drink list and craft cocktails.

I think by now everyone knows that Eleanor’s is our local speakeasy and you enter the place through the freezer door in the back of Muss & Turner’s. The great thing is that they serve the same food in Eleanor’s as they do at Muss & Turner’s, so you get the same great food with a better atmosphere. I love coming here for some drinks after work, but be forewarned that the kitchen closes at 9:30pm during the week, so this is not a late-night place. Definitely have one of their craft drinks. That’s what they’re known for and that’s what they do best. I think the wine list is… ok, but nothing too exiting. I wouldn’t come here for the wine. The service is always on point and friendly. Sometimes, it can get pretty crowded here and getting one of the coveted booth spots is tricky. The acoustics in the booths itself can be a bit odd and if you happen to be seated next to a «noisy» table, you will have a hard time hearing your own conversation. Other than that, I think Eleanor’s is a place you at least have to experience once!

Attended a 1920’s themed birthday party here and was impressed with the atmosphere, food, drinks and staff. When we walked into Muss & Turners in our Gatsby attire, patrons heads turned and the staff just smiled. We walked through the dining area and opened the cooler door which lead us down the dark hall that opened into a dimly lit space with a good size bar and a few tables. There were probably 20 of us and the service was great. We ordered small bites — the fries were amazing and the charcuterie and artisanal cheese were delicious(at least the selection we chose). Really cool place. If I lived in the area, I’d probably frequent Eleanor’s.

This place is really neat! It’s a great place for specialty cocktails and wines. I found a new one I love! This place has a very intimate/romantic vibe but it is also great for a small group of friends! The service has always been excellent. I have not had the food but what I saw looked delicious. Great place!

I’ve been to Eleanor’s twice. Once by accident, and once, just the other night on purpose. The first time was while waiting for a table at Muss & Turner’s. We had no idea it was back there. Honestly, you get the feeling that they are leading you to where they are going to hide your body. It’s a long walk through a «freezer» door and a little maze. Speakeasy is what they call it. Exactly. Aside from that, it’s a cute little bar. Definitely little, with only a handful of tables to sit down at. The bar itself is nice and long so getting a seat there isn’t impossible. The décor is dark and upscale. No pool tables(they wouldn’t fit anyways), dart boards, or jukebox. Just a calm place to have a drink. Drinks have ample pours, and the wine list is very good. As far as bars go, this is a pretty nice one to have to wait for a table at. We liked enough to go back and just have a couple of drinks, this time after dinner downtown.

Finally got to check this place out. Great, dressed-up, neighborhood feel. Lots of attention to detail… from the entryway, to the décor, to the ice spheres(Pure genius!). It definitely felt like a speakeasy without being kitschy and overdone. Our bar tender was friendly and super knowledgeable. He seemed to really love his work. I mean, he got me to drink Chartreuse. I thought that was some made up drink from a Tarantino movie(Don’t judge me!). Five well-deserved stars!

This is an interesting little bar. It is located in the back of Mass and Turner in Smyrna. You literally walk through an area called«the freezer»(not too cold) to get to the bar in a secluded area. I recommend this as a date spot since it’s certainly not built for large groups. We were a group of 13 people so we drank one drink and began bar hopping afterwards. The drink I chose was called the«Sleepy Hollow. It consisted of Pumpkin Spirit, Bailey’s Irish Cream, and Vodka. It tasted fantastic but was very small for the price of $ 11.00. I finished it in a few sips, wish it was bigger. This is a pretty cool, secret bar to check out.

Eleanor’s is the neighborhood speakeasy. Go into Muss & Turner’s make a Northeast beeline from the entrance to the back corner, open the cooler door, take a right down the hallway, and then another right past the bathroom, and you will be dumped into Eleanor’s — Am I still in Smyrna? Or did I enter Narnia? But actually, it practically is too cool for Smyrna. Along one side of the dark room is cozy lounge seating, and then on the other is the bar. You can order food from Muss & Turner’s, but Eleanor’s is open usually an hour or so later after the kitchen closes. Crowd is a mix – some young professionals in the area, and then maybe some folks in their 40s. The night before the SEC championship, practically half of the bar was Alabama alumni. They have a standard specialty cocktail list with a dozen or so house drinks – but I will say the Moscow Mule’s ended up being cheaper than I thought they were going to be($ 8), I’m not sure if they were having a special though. My only complaint is the way that they handle checks and tabs. They swipe and then hand your card back to you, and then if you are at a table there is a separate tab for the table. If you are with a friend, they might put you on the same tab and then say they will divvy it up at the end of the night. If all of this sounds wishy-washy, it’s because it is. I feel like everyone should just have a tab, let the bar keep track of the cards, and then close at the end of the night(like every other bar). Both times I’ve been here, the tab didn’t come out correctly on the first time. That being said, it’s never so chaotic that you don’t have a prayer at getting a server’s attention and having them sort things out for you.

The atmosphere here is absolutely perfect. Dim lights, rustic but modern décor, comfortable seating. The food is great, no «bar food» to be found. The cocktails are out of this world! Shaun, the bartender, can make anything you can think of. I’ve been on multiple nights where he was working, both on a date and with a large group of girls. Each time he was quick with delicious creative drinks, ideas for pairing with our meal, and was always helpful and attentive. Whether you’re going for a girls night or a date, this place is laid back, sexy, and very high quality.

Such an awesome spot. I love bars. I don’t need food, or trendy music. Just good drinks and a chill atmosphere. Eleanor’s fits the bill. I would like dimmer lights to make it more intimate, but otherwise I am a huge fan.

«–what kind of place was it? –Speakeasy. –Okay, what kind of place was it? –I just told you. Speakeasy. –I am speaking easy. Whaddaya want me to do? Talk with my fingers?» — Hold That Ghost(1941) Hidden in the back of Muss & Turners, a great little bar with some swanky snacks and bites for you to enjoy. You feel like you are breaking the rules sneaking in the walk in fridge, but really, they want you to enter. Awesome. Service has been hit or miss in my visits, but mostly hit. I’ve enjoyed all the cocktails — they do an amazing job mixing up some great drinks for sipping. But if you enjoy your drinks, you will really enjoy the food items. I love that they offer Charcuterie — a great accompaniment to cocktails — who doesn’t love varieties of meat? And with that, you might as well get an assortment of cheese as well. Great local selections are available. One of my favorite snacks was the chicarrones — perfectly fried pork skins went perfectly with my bourbon cocktail. I love the little tables, dimly lit by candlelight, dark wood all around — a great vintage feel. You feel like you are hiding out during prohibition, hiding from the 5 – 0. It is a great place to grab some drinks and feast on some tasty vittles and hang out with some great people.
