You know what is simply amazing about this Theater and the Crew of Actors who will blow you away with their talent? They are putting forth their very best for FREE! Smithfield Little Theater may not have the largest Theater of seating mind you… BUT pick a show, choose a date and time and buy your tickets FAST so you too wont miss out on an incredible experience that will transport you through time and space into whatever world they are presenting that night! Due to the Theater not being so very big, each seat has a great view of the stage… in fact, if you have front row… you will be right on stage(well practically since the flooring transitions right into the stage). This experience is a beautiful marriage of small town ambiance and personal touch with experienced actors that will thrill ALL your senses with whatever play they are presenting that night! Today I had the blessing of seeing Louisa May Alcott’s classic«Little Women». Phenomenally done! From the set(which was so classically good and intricately done), to wardrobe(period piece greatness), live orchestra(SO amazingly good), impeccably GREAT actors(who will truly put to shame any reservations you might have had prior to the show of «could there really be good acting with great singing voices in such a small town in such a little theater?»). You truly will find greatness here, no doubt about that… whether these actors stay local or move on to bigger cities… you can actually imagine ANY of these actors making it on Broadway because they are that wonderful to watch and enjoy! Don’t miss out! There is greatness to be found and enjoyed at Smithfield Little Theater! From start to finish this is an experience like no other and well worth the drive… wherever your driving from! Make a day of it… they have so many great little nearby eateries and shops and history to enjoy! The surrounding historic homes that have been restored and painstakingly revived to its original splendor are definitely a sight to see all in of itself!

«I like good strong words that mean something…» ― Louisa May Alcott, Little Women I was extremely excited when I found out that Smithfield Little Theater(SLT) was going to perform Little Women: the Musical in 2016. Little Women has always been one of my favorite books, and going to the theater was part of my childhood and early adult. It had been a while for me until today and here are my thoughts on SLT. SLT started back in 1962 as a group of individuals who had worked children’s theater. Its shows, starting with«The Cat and the Canary,» took place in other locations until they built a new theater in 2001. SLT is a small theater in a quaint town, but there is nothing small about it. I was impressed with the theater, their professionalism, and the end product of the show. From the set to the lights, and especially the cast, everything and everyone was on point. SLT is an all-volunteer organization, which impresses me even more. Smithfield is lucky to have such an amazing theater, and I was lucky to have been one of those in the audience today. Thank you everyone at SLT. You brought to life my favorite story – one that Alcott created with such a strong female character. Kudos to you both!
