The only reason I gave them 4 instead of 5 stars is because I believe they overcharged my dad on an alternator for his van and jacked him around a little bit and they seem to have given me a POS ignition coil that barely lasted two years, but hey… auto shops can get shaky products just like anywhere else, but they’ve done right by me every time and saved my butt BIG time when I thought I needed a new engine. I do my own work on my vehicles now that I know how to, but when I was ignorant, and in the future, when there’s something I don’t feel like doing, I would take my cars to Taylor’s. The older gentlemen has owned the shop forever, and he hires friendly knowledgeable mechanics to run this place. I find their fees to be fair and like I said, it’s best if you only need to take your car in ONCE for a problem, instead of going back for the same issue. They had a mechanic there that really saved my ass when I was told by two other places that I needed a new engine. I had zero compression in the #1 cylinder on a 3.4LGM and called Taylor’s to get a quote on a new engine swap. The dude asked why I condemned the engine. When I told him that two other shops had condemned it and that I was calling Taylor’s because I had good dealings with them in the past, he requested that I let him take a look at it. I drove the car into the parking lot and I had not even opened the door when the mechanic was already walking over to my car and asked me to pop the hood. I left the engine running erratically like it had been doing, and it took him all of 10 seconds to notice that someone had done work that involved taking the valve covers off and he deduced that something was wrong with a pushrod, a valve or a lifter(I’m still a little ignorant of the inner workings of the 3.4L), and he asked me to leave the car and he would only charge me an hour’s worth of labor to check it out to see if he couldn’t do something. The NEXT day, he called and asked if I was sitting down. I told him I was and expected the worst and he said, «Well, you’re back up and running as good as new!» Turns out, what he deduced from looking at the engine for 10 seconds was, in fact, the case and he even saved me some bucks on labor by completing the job without having to pull the intake. They charged me like, $ 300 bones for the labor they did, which I thought was a good deal because 300 bones for labor is better than 3600 bones for a new engine and labor. I’ll go there again when I have a job that I don’t feel like doing or if I can’t diagnose a problem and fix it myself.
