Mikel’s Hair Salon

Mikel’s is a great place. Of course I use the men’s barber side of this Avada. They always do a great job on haircuts and are very good lining up beards with a straight razor. It gets busy, but I’ve never had a long wait time. I’ve been to what feels like a million different barber shops in Chicago and have been hard up to find a place that does a good job consistently, at a decent price point. I found this place this summer, after moving to Skokie and have been happy ever since.

If you’re looking for a great place to get your haircut or even a quick lineup for a night out on the town, look no further. The employees are very knowledgeable and treat their customers with the utmost respect. I have been coming here to get my haircut with Dave for about a year now and I would never go anywhere else. They offer a full line of services and products. Mikel’s Salon in Skokie is leading the way in quality service!

I am a long time customer of Mikels Hair Salon. What separates Mikels Hair Salon from other barbers and salons in the area is the fact that they actually take care of you. This is not your $ 5 haircut in and out place. I have my beard done here once a week, haircut done every two weeks, and every time I come out of the building looking immaculate. Line ups are by blade, fades are on point, and people always ask me who’s my barber. I always refer people here because it’s a place worth going to.
Ashor, the barber on the right side alone as soon as you walk in has been taking care of me for quite some time now. If you want to look your best as a man go check him out and let him know I sent you.
Do not hesitate to come into this place for a haircut or lineup as a guy. All of the barbers are on point. I also have heard many great things about the woman’s side of Mikels.

I’ve been a customer for about 7 years now and every single time I’ve had a haircut, it’s been on point. I go to Ashur and he’s amazing. Understands what you want to get every single time. Never fails to amaze me how skilled he is. Atmosphere inside is nice and relaxing. they have a huge tv (way better than magazines) to keep you busy until your turn is up. I recommend anyone who knows what they want to go by him! The entire staff there does an amazing job to keep you happy.

Went her for my lazer after having a very bad experience elsewhere. I was very amazed with the results I got after completing 6 months. Sharon is super sweet and friendly!

I’ve been going to Sharon for years. She’s amazing and awesome! Her hair color treatment always looks spectacular. And her husband Mikel is great too. He cut my sons hair and he did such a great job of it.

Past few months I have been getting my hair cut/​beard line up with David. I decided after a few months I can do a review, David is extremely consistent and that’s key. Very reasonably priced and the detail he puts in is amazing, no matter how busy he is he never takes away and maintains the perfect hair cut every time.
You want a perfect line up and fade see David the guy is a rockstar!
You will not be disappointed.

Been going here since 2010. Great guys that know how to cut mens hair very well. Prices have gone up over the years, but with the renovations and everything. Prices are still reasonable because they know how to cut

I would recommend this place to others, very professional, organized, and clean establishment. Staff is very talented and do a superb job on hair styles, including updos. They were able to squeeze us in last minute when we were in a bind and Mikel did a fantastic job.

Overall, it was a great experience and Mimi showed me the best customer service. I have also gone to the same hair person for the past nine years and only ended up here because the timing didn’t work out with my usual person and I was on a time crunch! To preface, I did snag a Groupon for the Keratin treatment here. I was informed when I checked in that there was fine print letting me know that there was an additional charge for hair longer than shoulder length. My hair is currently about an inch past the shoulder which I ended up paying an extra $ 50 for. After having my second child, my hair has grown coarser so it needs a little extra deep conditioning.
The customer service here is excellent. Mikel was very friendly as he did my consult for my hair, and Mimi was also really great. The process takes about 2.5 hours so be prepared for that. After the wash, there is the conditioning treatment that takes a while for it to sit and soak in. Afterwards, Mimi styled it and maybe I’m so used to my usual hair stylist who knows what works best on me, that I don’t speak up but the super straight hair look wasn’t something that I was used to or really fell in love with. But she was super nice and at the end, they recommended Mikel’s special line of products which was decently priced at $ 20/​bottle. Overall, it was a great service and the end result was pretty good.

I just started to get my laser done here and I have NOOOOOO clue why I ever was tortured before. THIS DOES NOT HURT. IT FEELS LIKE A DAMN MASSAGE!!!
Sharon has amazing pricing & best laser treatment in Chicago. Not only that. She is very comforting and her smile is just perfect. I love my results, fell in love with her & and the best part is… Im looking forward to my next session.

So impressed! I read all the reviews on here and was skeptical as I would imagine everyone is to try laser hair removal. I could have gone on researching but a very happy new event upcoming in my life forced me to make a decision quick and I came across 5-​star rated Mikel’s hair salon. (I see all the reviews with Groupons but I went in full price and do not regret it). One word for Sharon (the laser technician) — Outstanding! She has the best bedside manner, is so pleasant and wonderful to talk to. She puts you at ease, shares her experiences and really understands when you are going through any kind of twitch and pain. Love love love her and the whole experience. As you can tell, these procedures are expensive but they have a repeat customer in me for a long long time
I was so happy with the treatment that i also decided to try out the hair styling options and Mikel is a genius. I have been paying top dollar at so many places and been repeatedly disappointed in the way hair is cut and styled but i think my search has ended with Mikel — he has a calm demeanor and gives you great advise on products and options to pick for your hair. Mikel was the only one in the area who wasn’t afraid to do several layers. Great haircut after a very very long time. Even gave bangs exactly like the picture I had from several years ago!

I purchased a Groupon for laser hair removal with Sharon. The staff was very friendly! Sharon is really nice and makes you feel comfortable. It’s clean and the best part… It’s not painful! Overall had a great experience and decided to purchase another package for a different area. :)

I went to Mikel’s yesterday using a Groupon for laser hair removal. Sharon (the laser tech) was fantastic — friendly, informative and easy to relate to. I used to go to a place in the city, but never felt very comfortable asking them the questions I had. This place is clean, attractive and the staff is approachable. Sharon explained the process to me and answered all of my questions. The reception lady was also nice and scheduling was so easy. This might be a place I start with a groupon and end up buying services!

I come to Mikel’s for full body laser hair removal with Sharon and it is the best customer service AND laser hair removal experience I have ever had! Sharon and the entire staff are so sweet.
First, let me explain that I have been to two other laser hair removal spa’s and they aren’t nearly as good. You don’t get what you pay for at other laser spa’s because if you notice, they aren’t using the highest setting of their machine. They say it’s because it would be too painful, which might be true, but I think it’s really because they keep wanting you to come back. At Mikel’s, the machine they have allows you to use the highest setting without being unbearable, so you get your money worth and the best results possible every single session. Also, all other laser spa’s go over the area once or twice, but Sharon is extremely generous and goes over the same area’s for minutes. She explains this all to you during the sessions.
Sharon truly does care about every customer and it’s really the first time I ever felt so strongly about it. DO NOT waste your money anywhere else!!! I have wasted thousands and wish I had come to Mikel’s sooner.

I just got my keratin straightening treatment done here and I love it. I was initially worried about the treatment but the staff here is so friendly and genuine they put me at ease. As soon as my sister and I walked in they gave us a consultation and told us about the treatment. No gimmicks or hidden fees. And the treatment was relatively quick considering I have a lot of long and thick hair. I also got my hair cut and I love it. Besides the quality products, this place has amazing customer service. I would definitely recommend this place and I’m definitely coming back.
Also I went back to get my bangs cut. I didn’t want to get drastic bangs but changed my mind and he altered my style for free. They’re really great here :)
