I realize it is a diner but there is nothing special about it. Please adjust the menu

Went here for lunch; not crowded; took a long time for the food to arrive, then 2 simple lunches they got totally wrong. No apology from the server, they made it feel like we were bothering them by trying to get what we ordered. Its a shame, cute place, but awful wait staff. Won’t go back,

The Skippack area is beautiful. Was surprised a Diner was on this strip. Arrived later in the evening. Only a few other patrons at the time. Was served promptly. Very nice ambience but my big thumbs up is their Philly mushroom cheese steak. It was my first experience with a Philly and it was awesome! Melted in my mouth!

Slowest service ever. After the lady behind the counter rudely pointed across the room to seat us, it took 15 minutes for someone to take our order, then another 40 minutes to get our food. We ordered a burger to go which took an additional 30 minutes to come out. It was a slow day so there was no reason for the food to take that long. The food itself was less than average and staff weren’t very friendly. I would not recommend this place. There are other, better options in Skippack for dining.

Food average, staff is nice(at least the staff that seems to care, many seem bothered by customers) Slow, slow slow, done going here-never again. Yes Sunday breakfast time is busy, but waited 40 minutes with empty coffee cups.(Really, ticket times more than 20mins is bad, 40 unacceptable!). Asked manager-got unapologetic«we are busy» excuse with attitude. Been going here 20yrs, not again until new management that cares as obviously current does not.

One of the few diners in this area so I will give it one star for existing, the food is so so for the price but for the most part it is pretty bland and I wouldn’t go there again after trying twice.

If i could give less than one star I would. 1. The place is slow. It was empty on a Monday morning and it took 40 minutes to get pancakes and eggs. 2. This is the worst diner food I have ever had. The pancakes weren’t cooked evenly. The fried eggs were destroyed. The flat top grill wasn’t cleaned and there were remnants of old breakfasts on the eggs and pancakes. The eggs Benedict had burnt muffins, nonexistent Canadian bacon, and rubbery hollandaise. 3. The place is filthy and the décor belongs in an episode of the Cosby show. Horrible.

It’s hard to pick what star I wanted to give them. The food is okay, it’s just diner food. But I enjoy their club sandwiches and enjoy going there for lunch. I always get a tuna club! They also have great cheese fries :) The service kinda sucks though. They’re not very friendly and they take forever. Like one time we got our food(our food wasn’t ran by our server) and we didn’t see her until we were finished. This whole time my water was empty and I just wanted something to drink but she was nowhere to be seen to get another water. The only person I like there is Odie. He’s so so nice and always takes care of my family and me. I always enjoy my time there when he is there and is serving us:)

I hadn’t been to Mal’s for breakfast in years, but stopped in with a toddler and grandparents this past Sunday for brunch. Arrvied right at peak time, around 10:30 and had to wait about 5 – 10 minutes for a table for 5. Service was a bit slow in taking orders and cooking food and they were more concerned with cleaning a bunch of empty tables vs getting us started(take that risk into your own hands if you see a potentially hungry toddler at the table — best to get them food first, do everything else later), but overall everything came out just right. Egg white omelettes well-done, blueberry pancakes, the usual, was all pretty good. I think we’ll go back again soon. Trick. Ask them to cook french fries for an extra 15 – 30 seconds and they will be perfect.

The kitchen staff here has absolutely no sense of urgency. Breakfast order took over 45 minutes to hit the table. Food was average, but not worth the wait. Service was good, but wouldn’t recommend this place.

Use to come here occasionally as a kid. Not a bad place. People seem to dislike it a lot more than I would have guessed before checking the reviews. It’s definitely a diner although it has a nicer atmosphere as if to be a special restaurant, however it is a bit small. Seating feels a little intimate. There’s out front patio seating. It’s honestly a shame this place isn’t better. It’s in a very good location; the middle of Skippack Village, and has been for a long time. Hopefully, the place gets itself together. I think it just lacks leadership and the desire to be a nicer place.

Been there a few times and it’s just basic, not great breakfast food. Would be amazing if someone could take it over– do an overhaul and turn it in a menu like Sabrina’s in center city. They have a few locations and an amazing breakfast menu!!! We NEED that in Skippack!!! I too was disappointed in service. Everyone walks past you as your waiting for a refill in your cup of joe. Should be team work!!!

Awful experience there about 3 weeks ago. I had been warned about the awful Mal’s Diner. Wanted breakfast rand thought how could this be bad. After waiting about 10 minutes for a cup of coffee the waiter then took our order. I asked for the quasadilla to be without egg. ‘No problem says the young ‘waiter’. My friend ordered a simple eggs and pancakes. 15 – 20 minutes later the server returns to ask if we wanted more coffee. ‘No thanks buts where’s my breakfast?’ ‘Oh they made it with egg and they are making another one’ an update would have been appreciated. 10 minutes after that he brings me a plate with a greasy tortilla with cheese. This $ 7.99 ‘breakfast’ was just all wrong. No peppers, no onions as listed in the menu. I have it back and said I wanted nothing. He brings the check and says ‘I took your breakfast off the bill’. THANKS!!! I go to the counter to pay for my friend’s breakfast and the coffee they charged me for. I was lucky enough to have the server take my payment. While handing it to him he reaches beside me to take another patron’s payment. ‘Who ever gets here first’ he said. I was glad I didn’t leave that idiot a tip. My tip to anyone considering going to Mal’s Diner in Skippack is DONTDOIT.

My brother picked out this spot for the Family to meet while I was in town. I told him my hesitation based on some of the reviews, but we went anyway. While it’s not ‘my’ type of breakfast place(nothing fancy, basics like pancakes, waffles, a few breakfast sandwiches, eggs and omelets), it was a very nice breakfast. Junior enjoyed his pancakes and I enjoyed my breakfast sandwich. The service was just perfect(not hovering, but still very attentive), the room is classic 50’s style and very clean. We had a nice big table set off to the side, a good thing as we had three youngsters with us. Again, while I have to admit to wanting a little more adventure with my food, this place is a solid diner with good service and good location. A big plus for being Family & Kid friendly.

Sitting here now watching my waitress read a magazine while I desperately try to have her get me another cup of coffee. Should have known: Mal = Bad

After an afternoon of legalized public inebriation at the Winetoberfest, I needed a cup of java to bring me back to Earth before returning to my car for the winding journey home. After striking out at two cafes that seemed disenchanted with the day’s events and were keeping a very low profile, someone suggested we check out Mal’s. It was open and almost empty, but the counter looked inviting. We sat on a couple of old spinners and ordered the Joe large and hot. That is what we got. Fresh and it a supersized styro take away cup. It was what just what the doctor ordered. Helped straighten me out. The restroom was also a big help after the amount of liquids consumed in a short time. We sat where we could see into the kitchen and watched as a Cheesesteak was prepared and sent out. Looked okay, but I was not tempted. For being my personal oasis yesterday early evening, Mal’s gets my undying appreciation, and 3 Stars. The staff gets 4 because they definitely came through for me.

This place is not terrible and it’s not fantastic. It’s a Diner folks and Diners got their reputation by serving medicore food. My suggestions of the menu would be the Godfather Steak and the Fried Chicken Sandwich.

Was with my aunt and uncle looking for a place to get breakfast and they suggested the most perfect place. Mals American diner This place rocks. It’s a cool little diner with the original cheesecake and different kinds is cheesecake that look just as tasty. And the even have scrapple which is very tasty. I highly recommend trying the whit cheesecake which is a Philly hit and also the scrapple which you have to try please try it.

Slow service Bland food Devoid of real character You’re in Skippack, not at a highway-side truck stop, but the quality you experience here would indicate the latter. Getting a seat isn’t tough here(a hint more than a bonus, I’m now seeing), but the wait times from seated to waited on, to served, to followed up on, to given the check are all long. Service is passable. The food is plentiful, but utterly unspecial, not very well-prepared, and pretty flavorless. Places like this are a dime a dozen and your time is worth more than this. Head to a local place with more character, better food, or(yes, or) faster service, and you’d have this place beat. So, why bother? Not recommended.
