The salon says walk ins welcome, however there are only about three people working. I have gone twice after work about an hour and a half before they close. Both times the owner asked me to come back another day. The owner is rude at times. I never know when I’ll get free time to get my nails done and when I do find the time I don’t want to be turned away. I liked going here before because Kim does a great job and the salon is clean.

NEXGEN! NEXGEN! NEXGEN! I have been going to modern nails for over a year now, and I couldn’t be any happier with Lynn’s work. My nails are so much healthier, and the polish last up to 3 weeks!!! I’m always getting compliments on my nails. My mom and I used to drive down to the valley to get our nails done because we couldn’t find a decent salon in Simi, but that all changed when we found Modern nails. Lynn always treats us like family from the moment we walk in, and we always get a good laugh from her brother Calvin which by the way also does an amazing job on NEXGEN nails. Five stars to Lynn and the team.

Love this place! Lynn is the sweetest and really cares about her customers. I’ve been coming here for a year now and my nails have never looked better. I’m usually very particular about my nails and they always get it right. Calvin is a great new addition too. He’s done my gel manicure on my last two visits and I really like his work.

I have been going here for awhile now and felt it was necessary to leave a review since my recent visit was incredible. Everytime I go I just get my eyebrows waxed and have had amazing results. I have naturally bushy with no real shape type of eyebrows and they do such a great job in giving my eyebrows a nice shape that leaves people always complementing me. Yesterday I went to the one near Belk and was waiting for about 5 – 10 min when I chose to walk over to here. Fast and beautiful work they do! Will be loyal to them!

I have been getting my nails done with Kim for the past year, and she has done great work with my nails. I love the NexGen no more acrylic or unhealthy nails. I love the progression my nails have made over the past year. I went to the salon last week and Kim was on vacation (I was already aware of this but in need for a new polish), so I had Kalvin. Oh my gosh, he made me question whether I want to even go back there. He did the worst job and I left the salon nearly in tears. I was so unhappy with his work and am embarrassed at how they turned out. I will never be going to him again. The owner, Lynn is rude at times to me and other people. But for the most part she’s tolerable. If it weren’t for Kim and her sweet personality I WOULD NOT be coming back to this salon.

I’ve been getting my nails done religiously for the 4 years I have been living in Ventura, CA. Who knew that landing a job in Simi Valley would lead me to try out a new nail salon nearby and I must say: Today’s experience with Modern has been the BEST out of all the nail places I’ve been trying for so long!
My nails have gotten so weak because of all the acrylic I’ve been using, but today KALVIN eased me into trying a new product called NEXGEN. It was THE coolest & quickest process I’ve had done with getting a gel manicure. TRY IT OUT. It’s a time effective, powder based solution where they dip your finger nails in the colored powder of your choice in between clear coats of polish. My nails dried from the final clear top coat in under 5 minutes. Kalvin took his time and answered any questions I had about the product.
I’m excited to see my new strength and growth in my nails, as well as continue my service with Kalvin & Lin, who was also such a sweetheart. I have some photos to offer here also!

Just got my nails done by Lynn and she’s great. She did the Nexgen mani and it looks and feels great! She did a cute little design for Christmas too! I will definitely be returning!

NEXGEN it’s amazing. My nails are so long now and not fragile like they used to be. It lats way longer than gel manicure! I will no longer go anywhere else! The service is great. They are very sweet and everyone there does a great job I kid you not! Everyone! You will not regret it.

Great nail salon in Simi Valley. They have a great selection of services. From spa pedicures in comfy chairs to gel and even the latest in nail technology called NextGen. My gels last 2 – 3 weeks and the NextGen lasts up to 3 – 4 weeks! The ladies who work here are very nice and sociable. It is clean and decorated very nice inside. Highly recommend.

I have been getting NexGen by Kim and I’ve never been so happy with my nails. I used to always get gel and it would damn my nails. My nails have gotten so long and healthy and look great. Kim takes her time and does your nails exactly how you want them and on top of that has the sweetest personality ever.

I absolutely loved the service here. I had two broken nails I need to last till my wedding day and have been getting gel nails UNTIL this place introduced me to Nexgen and now I will forever be going here! This is way better than gel nails and makes your real nails indestructible without the damagde. Thank you Modern Nails!

I was in Texas recently and visited a nail shop there and had Nexgen done on my nails and loved it! I found Modern Nails through Unilocal (thank you, fellow Unilocalers!) and this was the only local shop I could find that does Nexgen.
I made an appointment in advance of coming in. The salon is clean and the spa chairs were fantastic. Kimberly did my Nexgen manicure and Kim did my pedicure — both were fantastic!
My only advice is to perhaps bring your own polish. I didn’t feel like their selection was robust enough for my liking and it was limited in terms of colors (regular polish, they have TONS of Nexgen & gel polish options).
Will absolutely be back!

Lynn is the best at Nexgen don’t be fooled by other salons. I went to another local shop and the woman drilled my nails like she was doing acrylics. All it took was one time at another shop for me to realize that even if Lynn is booked it’s best to wait for her. She keeps my nails healthy and happy with her attention to detail & gentle filing. Modern nails the real deal!

This is my third time coming here and I absolutely love it. I’ve been getting the NexGen by Kim and she does a great job every time. Kim takes her time with you and shapes your nails to exactly how you want them and is so neat and clean.

I recently changed nail salons and this one is for sure worth it! I love their new nextgen nails that they have, better than gels on my nails! Kim is fantastic also, she does an awesome job :)
