If you have a family member that has passed, NEVEREVER go to this establishment. Speaking with Philip Rinaldi himself after a horrible ordeal with a sudden passing, was the most blood pressure rising experience ever. After calling them out on a DC mistake, he spoke with me aggressively and was so defensive the whole conversation. my father passed 10 yrs ago, and i can still remember the compassion i felt from the funeral home staff from beginning to end. they know my grief and lack of sleep was a result of my sometimes crankiness. They understood, and was patient. Mr. Philip Rinaldi is not that type of man. And they will give you the run around about all the documents they should be providing you. DONOTGOHERE!!! ALSO, there is a Rinaldi Funeral home and Philip Rinaldi funeral home. The latter is the one im referring to. Ironically, the first one took amazing care of myself and family!!!

Although having to use the services of a funeral home is never due to a happy occasion, we were relatively satisfied with Rinaldi’s Funeral Home. We had to plan a funeral that involved a lot of moving parts due to family traveling from abroad and the owner was patient in waiting for the details to fall into place over our ~5 day start-to-finish interaction(which included responsiveness outside of regular business hours). Circumstance dictated that we add a viewing the hour before the church ceremony less than 24 hours before the funeral and we were able to get this ironed out successfully over a weekend… bravo. The reason for less-than-stellar rating, however, is that we were not told until the evening before a very important aspect: the individuals delivering the deceased will be needing assistance with carrying the casket. Ooops. Thankfully, we happened to have a few tall & strong men on hand and were able to secure several additional people to help last minute but this could have been a major day-of problem. Obviously, the undertaker’s staff of 2 would not be able to carry the casket and the family should have been told to plan accordingly ahead of time. In fact, some religions have rules about the family not helping with the coffin and not all funeral events have able-bodied attendees to assist on the fly. Following the ceremony, the funeral’s home lead car of the multi-vehicle procession got lost(overshot the cemetry) so the funeral procession had to turn around… awkwardly…blocking traffic. A bit of chaos ensued but was thankfully resolved without too much of a disruption. Understandably, this can happen to anyone but getting appropriate directions(with maybe a dry-run) to the cemetery ahead of time would have been optimal. We received the death certificate promptly from the funeral home, which was helpful in handling various life logistics after the event. I was slightly dismayed, though, that the documents were folded rather than sent in an envelope sized to avoid creases(a minor point, to be sure). We also had some difficulty with the U.S. Postal Service delivering the said death certificate letter(lots of phone calls to USPS on my part) so using a different delivery mechanism(maybe FedEx) should be considered. Overall, Philip Rinaldi’s demeanor and business helped us take care of matters during a difficult time. With addressing the couple of details above, all will be well and the establishment can develop a life of its own.
