Inka Chicken is being renovated and renamed. The sign out front now says Rinconcita Café. The place is locked up and inside(what you can see through the window) appears to be fairly extensively redone.

Don’t judge this place based on the store front and location. Good food with a nice sized dining room and it’s a solid take out option. I prefer the chicken at Juice and Crispy a bit better, but they are just so much nicer to me here. I’ve tried a few items on the menu including: –half chicken with fried yucca and rice and beans(4 stars) –papa rellena(3 stars) –lomo saltado beef(4 stars) –aguadito(3 stars) All the food tasted good and the portion sizes are generous. I wasn’t a big fan of the papa rellena, but others enjoyed it.

I agree with Jim. C. Definitely a 4 star place. If you can get past the scary, heavily tinted doors(I’m just saying there used to be an adult bookstore in this strip mall and maybe here?) you will step inside to a quite normal looking Peruvian chicken place. Chicken is delicious and moist. What would make me drive the extra ten minutes past Pollo Rico to get there, though, is the beans and rice. A girl doesn’t always want(or need) a touch of fried on her plate. The people were really nice. They told me they would charge me extra for an all white meat half(which puzzled them — I think I was the first person to ever order this in there). When the lady rang me up she did charge me extra — a whole 40 cents. Oh and there are other things on the menu too, but I doubt I will ever order them — I come for the chicken! Parking and access could be irritating here. The restaurant is on the northbound side of Georgia Avenue. If you approach from downtown Silver Spring just make a right into the small public lot and park there. If you approach from Wheaton, well that looks to be a nightmare. I think I would park across the street at Staples and just walk over.

I haven’t had the chicken yet, even though that was what a friend recently raved about that got me to stop at this rather difficult location for dinner. I’m glad I made the stop! I’ve forgotten the woman behind the counter’s name(but I took her picture). She suggested I try a seafood and rice dish that was fantastic. I would suggest using LESS shrimp but only the big ones. It seems Inkas idea is to load up the dish with a ton of tiny shrimp and put a few big ones on top, but who likes tiny shrimps? Just the big ones are fine with all the calamari and fish in this dish… SO good and SO much to eat! I’m going back for the chicken. I’ll report back!
