Silver Cove RV Resort

I strongly advise not to camp here. It used to be owned privately, but is now owned by a corporation. They have raised the rates so high it scares many people away. They also charge for extra people in your site & for extra cars. The new manager (Robert) is rude & nothing short of a bully. He practices age discrimination with employees. Many people in our community do not like the new manager, as he has been rude to them also.

I have thought long and hard for years about reviewing Silver Cove. Since I received a follow up check out email requesting a review, I’m obliging.
This was the first weekend I’ve stayed since they were bought out. I’ve been coming here ever since the 1^st year they opened. I watched with anticipation as the park was constructed. I’ve been fishing this lake for 12 years.
I absolutely love the actual physical park. It’s beautiful, and usually peaceful. For the folks complaining about goose droppings, well, that’s part of nature. I certainly don’t mind that, or the deer or elk droppings. I’ve seen huge herds right in the park & it’s quite spectacular.
I fish. That’s what I do. That’s what I go there for. Now, I have boats & have & can just bring a boat down & either turn & go back home, or have other options for lodging. The beauty of Silver Cove is that I don’t have to fuss with a boat. I can check in, go outside my door & fish. No launching, driving, anchoring, securing for theft, reloading on the trailer etc. I just want to fish.
I have spent thousands of dollars at Silver Cove & referred 10s of thousands in business. I’ve spent the past 2 Christmases there by myself & enjoyed the week of solitude. Unfortunately I won’t be doing it this year.
It’s not that I can’t, it’s that I won’t. Out of principle. The price increase the new owners have implemented are simply outrageous and insulting to the regulars that patronize the resort when they need it the most. In the winter. I think they are confused and think this is California. In the summer, I get it. Knock the customers in the head. Because your busy. Supply & demand. But when the cabins are empty, it makes no sense to try & charge so much.
I’ve endured a ridiculous amount of harassment from some of the old permanent residents. I had to cuss a couple out more than once to get them to leave me and my family alone. When we are there, we don’t bother anyone, break any rules, make any noise & are always respectful. Some of the past residents found themselves playing police (when we did NOTHING). All the old residents are gone now.
The wifi in the resort sucks. This weekend I gave up trying to stay connected. The new site sucks. You can’t reserve specific cabin numbers so I have no way of securing my favorite cabin.
The one bright spot of all of the new company, is Lori. She was fantastic, understanding & I could tell her heart is with the good for the company & the customers. I hope they listen to her & get their finger on the pulse of the people.
The fishing community in Seattle has been buzzing with how bad things are now with the prices.
Last year I paid $ 450 I think for a week + 1 night for my cabin. I inquired last dec for a full month in ²⁰¹⁵⁄₁₆ & was quoted $ 750. When I went to book on the site, it was over $ 4000. I sent an email via the site & was completely ignored.
When I reached out via Unilocal,a former employee told me their new pricing is dynamic like hotels now (no sense in this business) & a month would be $ 1550 & the week would now be $ 800.
So I get punished for being a loyal customer? Oh. Ok.
I get that rates increase. I’m a business woman. I get it. But you have to take care of those who take care of you & keep your increases in line.
I’m actually beyond sad that I won’t be spending my Christmas down there alone, but this corporation doesn’t want business from me anymore I guess.
Oh, the new pet policy? Yea… From zero deposit to $ 150 of which $ 100 is refundable. They also now charge for, ready for this? Extra cars (beyond 1) at your cabin & $ 10 per person per night over 2 occupants per cabin. Beyond crazy.
I suggest that Hiway West, or whatever the new owner is called, reconsider their business model. I’d also suggest keeping an email list of regular customers & sending out last minute vacancy specials on empty cabins. 50% of something is better than 100% of nothing.

I hope everyone enjoys this story! My wife and I have NEVER before owned any kind of an RV trailer/​5^th wheel. As we will be retiring next year and relocating from Washington state to Michigan, my wife thought it would be a good idea if we purchased a «small» type of travel trailer, as we have 2 huge German Shepherd Dogs. Idea was to buy something used, travel across the country, then sell it once in Michigan.
Here’s where it gets good! We started looking around at trailers/​5^th wheels. As one who prefers not to purchased used anything, we got serious about something new. Oh well, we ended up buying a brand new, 41′ Open Range 3X 5^th wheel. Now where to take it! Silver Cove RV park is about 70 miles north of where we live. We took a drive there one day to check it out, and it looked awesome. So this past Saturday, we loaded up «Charley» (the given name of the 5^th wheel, as in John Steinbeck’s «Travels With Charley»), our 2 dogs, and off we went. Silver Cove offers drive through spots, so that was ideal. This park is immaculately clean. The staff is incredibly friendly. The campground «host», Mike, spent an hour with us helping set up our tv/​stereo system to the cable provided. He then assisted with our «Auto Level» system. He then assisted with our thermostat. A SUPER nice guy. For our 1^st trip ever, it could not have gone better. My wife and I returned home today still happily married too!

We stayed here as a launching spot to visit Mount Saint Helens. I hadn’t been to the area since before the eruption in 1980. The campground has fingers of Silver Lake running through it. It is an exceptionally clean campground with spacious sites. We drove in with a 44′ motorhome and tow vehicle. One turn getting to our drive through space was too tight to turn, but there was room to back up to make it. Lots of waterfowl in the area and lots of fishing. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. Small motor boats and/​or kayaks can be rented. I wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely return.

We stayed here over Labor Day weekend. There were some RVs that traveled together and everyone hung out in one of the campsites. They were so loud! We could hear their music in our motorhome. Had to close the windows so that our 3 year old could nap. They were loud until at least 11 each night. Nothing was done about it. We saw someone in a golf cart go by multiple times but they never stopped and talked to them. The elderly couple next to us said that they spoke to one of the golf cart drivers on Sunday morning after they were kept up and voiced their complaint about the noise. Nothing got done. We didn’t complain because they clearly didn’t want to enforce the rules. We will not be back! I realize that it was a 3 day weekend but the noise was too much.
To address the response — That may be the policy but it didn’t happen. Cleary the campground hosts/​staff did not address the noise. They were told by our neighbor that this group was noisy. We listened to their music off and on all weekend. And they were loud every evening. Not once did we see someone stop at their campsite and talk to them. We were outside a lot because of the nice weather.

Beautiful setting and very well maintained. Our cabin was very comfortable with all the basic amenities. I would strongly recommend this place to relax and rest while exploring the mt. St. Helens area.

This resort is AWESOME! I have been to a lot of rv resorts being a Fultimer and this is one of the better one’s, The sites are Huge double wides right on or by the lake and Canals, Very quiet, well kept and great staff that keeps the place spotless, good Wi-​Fi, 50 amp, who would guess this nice a resort outside Castle Rock WA??? and close to Mt St Helens, A+++

It is definitely nicer than the four or five other choices on or around Silver Lake. Definitely will be back.

Great place to stay while visiting Mt. St. Helens. We stayed in a cabin, with our 3 kids. The cabin was clean and well stocked with everything we needed to make ourselves at home. Very peaceful and relaxing. The staff were very friendly.

Nice park, wide spaces and lots of mother nature around. They do take pride in the appearance. Very nice staff and great customer service. They have discounts for military, Good Sam and others. Sites had full hook-​ups and some even had shade. Can only say it’s average though for a few reasons. #1. LOTS of goose poop around, be careful where you walk or where your children play. #2. No place to play in the water as canals were shallow, bottom is mud, so no swimming for the kids. #3. No real fire pits in many sites, just landscape blocks or old tire rims sitting on ground. #4. Bathrooms were a LONG WAY from many of the sites and you’d better remember the code to use them. #5. You had a long canal to get to the lake but be careful of all of the lily pads if your boat has a motor. #6. Pull thru sites are nice, but out in the open with NO shade and not enough of them. #7. Roads were narrow and if you had an RV, especially a large RV in a site in front of you, backing into your site could be very difficult due to lack of manouvering. Would LOVE to see a pool, fenced in off leash area for dogs or maybe some picnic table shelters built at the sites with NO shade. For the daily/​nightly fees that are being charged, I would like to see the park exceed others in ammenities.

I found this place when looking for info on Mt. St. Helens. We stayed in one of the cabins and it was very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. Wi if only worked 1 out of the three days we were there and if I had been alone I would’ve been ok with it, but had my 15 year old son with me. So you can imagine his disappointment. We will be back.

Peaceful Place to Relax
We found this RV park through the Good Sam club (discount offered) and we were pleased with our stay. The park hosts were very friendly and park was extremely clean and exceptionally quite. There were lots of geese around (watch out for the poop!) as well as several deer wandering through the park. The lake was serine and enjoyable as were the canals that run through the park.
Overall we had a relaxing weekend at this park.

Nice park, no cable, working on it, only one bathroom & far away from RV spots, only problem with park is the Goose crap everywhere, just nasty

My husband and I love this RV Park!!, It is well maintained and lots of trees, with a lovel lake surrounding the park. The showers and restrooms are very clean, WiFii reception is great, there is no cable so we used our trailer antena and recived some channels from Seattle. But we were not here to watch t.v. we were here to relax and see Mt. St. Helens. The owners are very helpful, and when I requested not to be put by any playground and that we wanted a quite spot, they were very accomodating. The park is back from the main road to Mt. St. Helens, so no traffic noise! This is a great RV park if you want peace and quite. We loved it so much, we are coming back to stay again the end of Aug, after we are done traveling to Canada.
