A bad experience pretty much sums up my review here.
We came in to get collars, food and a dog bed. We found the food and collars cheaper on their website, score! In addition, we found a nice dog bed for nearly 50% off, double score! Time to checkout and see the smiles on all the doggies when we get home.
«Sorry we cannot match our online price»… What?! Seriously? Why the heck not? Be warned, they will not honor their lower price online.
Dog bed, full price. Wait what?! I went back to verify this, a whole stack of these beds were under the wrong tag… You got to be kidding me. Had to put that back too.
In addition, the lady wouldn’t put my friends rewards ok because they were too far in the transaction? Strange. Go someplace else.

I drive a little further to get to Petsmart than any other pet stores, however I’ve been let down by this store too many times lately. I went in on a flash sale for the biggest cat litter container since it seemed to be a great deal with their $ 3 off but they didn’t have any and didn’t do rain checks and what no earnings when you use your Petsmart card!!! I bough a different brand so I wouldn’t have to spend time going somewhere else and I wanted to use my petsmart card but the guy at the cash register said it didn’t matter because there was no points. No how did we do printed on receipt either! Not my only bad experience in the last year or so. Going to Petco in Lakewood from now on I can use my earned $ 10 on something for my dog.

Came here to purchase some items for my new puppy and the staff were very friendly and helpful, they even recommended a puppy booklet that’s only 20 $ !! Which is great because it helped me save a lot of money, they even told me that if my puppy did not like the food they recommend that I can return it ! Will be back soon for more puppy items.

once in store its in and out within 5 mins or less. just the way i like it (i hate shopping) unless its on a weekend and they have some cats or pups to be adopt then i like to stay in store and try not to adopt another pet…

We bought the wrong dog food. We got it at Petsmart by our house. I work near this location so I went there to beg for help as I had bought a $ 50 bag of wrong food and my dog was getting sick.
Turns out I didn’t have to beg at all. I was able to exchange my open bag of dog food for the correct type with no hassle at all!!! I even got money back as the food we normally get was cheaper!

This is the nearest location to me (2.8 miles away from my residence). I frequent Petsmart in Signal hill at least twice a month, and it’s always been great experiences.
The place is clean, every department is well stocked, maintained, and the dog food selection is vast and gratifying. It’s hard to find the brand I give my dog and Petsmart always has it in stock. I always run in and grab the petite entrees that I mix in with her kibble, and they’re on sale every once in a while.
The staff has always been beyond helpful and nothing less than stellar. Customer service is the best, returns or refunds are quick and easy, but check-​out times can be very slow as there’s almost always only one register open. Frustrating if you’ve come to just grab and go, but they’re very sweet and attentive.
I always love shopping if my pooch is allowed in, so sometimes we overstay our stop for some kibble and walk every aisle to see what other goodies we can score :)

I waited a couple days to write this review to make sure I didn’t write in angry. Although, I’m still upset I am far more disappointed now. We have a 4 month old Maltipoo named Romeo.
Romeo needed a quick bath and nail trim, he’s gotten his nailed trimmed before (NOT HERE). We didn’t have an appointment scheduled so we called ahead, and score — they have immediate availability! They asked that we bring his proof of shots since he was so little, no problem! With my 8 year old daughter by our side we took him in. Girl at the desk said it will be a few minutes so we walked around the store.
From a couple aisle away we heard Romeo cry so naturally we walked to the window to see him. My daughter starts saying «dad they’re hurting him», «why are them pulling him like that». The receptionist (some young girl with a hoop nose ring) is holding Romeo away from her and has a look of disgust. She says «he’s stressed and he pooped and he has worms» then drops him in my daughters arms.
Okay, maybe I can understand that if he did have worms he can’t jeopardize the health of the other dogs. I totally get that, although we were confused/​shocked because his eating/​playing/​relieving happens were all normal. But to just drop him in my daughter’s arms WITH POOP STILL ON HIS FUR it wrong! Now my daughter has poop on her clothes and while holding Romeo goes to Benfield to find a tissue to clean him! We get home shower him and notice that they did not return his name collar to us, so I called. The girls who answered told me «oh, you had the dog with worms, no we returned the nametag why would we keep it?»… okay… why would I call you if I had it! She called back about 30 seconds later and said she found it. Wow, how about next time you look before you say so confidently that you returned it to us!
Ended up taking Romeo the next day to Banfield to get his «worm» situation looked at… guess what??? No worms! Just as we thought. Romeo is as healthy as 4 month old puppy can get!
So what now? Well, still upset we go to pick up his forgotten nametag (wasn’t greeted by hello, welcome or even a fake smile), whatever, we got his nametag. Walking out the girl at Banfield suggested that we speak to the store manager about our experience so we took her advise and spoke to James (I think). He was nice, heard our concerns, and said he appreciates the feedback because he’s trying to change the service that is received at grooming. He asked what we can do for us, and we said we are not interested in compensation, just wanted to share our first time experience.
Sorry… I know this is long, just wanted to share the full story… in short…
Just read the reviews and trust them — I wish I did.

I recently purchased a fish tank here. Help was ok to good. Next day I went in to buy fish. They where awful. Dead fish in the tank. That is understandable to a point. Put almost every tank had snails. Once you get then in your tank is it very hard to get rid of them. The person involved with the fish area said they come with the fish and there is not much we can do about it.
My answer. I AM BUYING MY FISH SOMEWHERE ELSE.

We came here to buy a hamster. We didn’t know that certain stores only carry one sex of all of the animals there. We picked out a little dwarf hamster and so far she’s doing good. We also picked up some essentials for her. They have everything here to make your pet happy. I think we got a better deal than we would have if we had gone to petco. Our hamster’s total cost including a house, hideaway, food, bedding, etc, came up to $ 64.

THEY HURT MY LITTLE PUPPIES NAILS!!! Never again!!! They were late on time, they overcharged me, and they cut my puppies nails SO short. Worst service ever!

First time bringing my pooch for a spa treatment here. Mari greeted us with a friendly smile during the check in process. I love the speedy service. James handled my check out issues well. This location delivered an excellent doggie pampering day. If my pooch can talk, she’ll say, «5-​paw stars please!» We will be back!

DO NOT BUY A BEARDED DRAGON HERE!
I got my first bearded dragon here 2 weeks ago and after the first three days, I had to take him back because he wasn’t eating. Turns out one of the employees there, her name is Nicole, feeds them with tweezers. That’s not how you feed a bearded dragon because that will make them lazy and not want to catch their food. They took him back and the vet never gave him the clear for me to get him back. They sold me a sick bearded dragon. I wold never came back here for a pet. I will for food because its pretty cheap.

If you make an appointment, don’t worry, still a 3 hour wait. I asked why it is so long and they said because they work on multiple dogs at a time… So what’s the point of my appointment if he has to wait?
OH, and don’t worry, if you get a nail trim, they give you back your puppy and say «be careful his nails are really sharp» … Wasn’t that the point of getting them filed down?
So not only did I pay extra for them to take less than 3 hours, but I also paid extra for them smooth out the butch nails they trimmed.
I came before and these things were included with what I asked for and then I also get the oatmeal bath. He (my pup, Poseidon) smelled SO good! But not this time. No oatmeal smell and they claim that’s what he had. They are frazzled at check in and it seems like they make it more chaotic than it needs to be.
When I picked up Poseidon I also saw another girl trimming the hair of a dog and yelling «STOP. STOP IT.» when it was so scared and shaking and just looking around. Wasn’t even standing up!
DO NOT TRUST THAT TEAM WITH YOUR LITTLE FAMILY MEMBER!

Took my min pin there at the grooming salon. Pet stylist Ivette took good care of dog and leaves him smelling good. Really nice person. Also got my min pin nails grind once in a while. Like coming here than petco. But yeah cool place near my house

My review is solely based on the grooming department. I swear that place is a joke. I took my dog Nala (shihtzu) in for a basic grooming (I normally go to petco btw but they had no available appointment). Despite some of the negative comments on Unilocal,I decided to give them a try. I was completely wrong and should’ve listened to the other reviews. When I came back for Nala, she had rashes all over her body. It’s impossible for her to get fleas or ticks because she just had her 6 month treatment 3 weeks before. The groomer said Nala was difficult and tried to charge me an extra $ 7.00. I totally disputed the miscellaneous charges because of the rashes and they removed the $ 7.00. I ended taking Nala to her vet and they gave her antihistamine meds for the rashes.
I rarely give negative comments on Unilocal but please read the other reviews. Your fellow Unilocaler’s speak the truth. For the sake of your pets, don’t go to this grooming salon!!! If you’re trying to find a groomer nearby, take them to Petco in signal hill.

This rating is not for the staff but more like the customers that goes here! This is my first time going to a Petsmart because I needed to get a bag of treats as well as grain-​free food for my puppy pitbull (6 months)… Well… While I was in the treat aisle looking at what treats to buy, a man and his wife walked by me and my dog, so my dog decided to act tough and barked at them. I told my dog to stop it! Obviously, my dog isn’t aggressive because he goes to classes and day care and passed his temperament test. So I know he wouldn’t just attack people. If he was aggressive, I wouldn’t take him to places like these!
Anyhow, The man and his wife walked away and my dog just sat himself down and waited for me to finish looking for a bag of treats! While I was finishing up, this man had the audacity to come back and tell me I needed to leave because my dog barked at him! I looked at him and gave him «wtf! Are you serious!» It’s a freaking pet store for god sake! If you’re scared of my dog, then maybe you should wait until I leave the aisle! Don’t come up to me and tell me I needed to leave the store!
Anyhow, it’s not the store fault they have rude, inconsiderate, stupid customers! But this is definitely the first and last time I’m going here. Going to petco which is around the corner. I’ve always had good experience there from the people who go there as well as the staff.

Petco here I come! All i needed was a few cans of food, but was stopped in my tracks by some red-​bearded manboy and a crotchety white haired lady minutes before closing. I shop here weekly and have never been this perturbed by the staff and lack of service.
It is a true shame that loyal customers with hungry pets are turned away at the door minutes before closing, all while people are still visibly inside finishing their selections and transactions, without considering the gauntlet of red lights and construction they went through to race to their «local» pet emporium. Whatever. We all got things to do buddy, I guess I’ll have to put never shopping here again on my to-​do list for tomorrow. It is a shame, oh well at least Petco is close. I’d go there.

I came to this Petsmart for the first time in February 2014. I just came in for a litter box and some cat food, but ended up leaving with a kitten, my third orange kitty. I like to come here on Saturdays because they have the kitten and cat adoptions. The employees here are all super friendly and helpful. I really enjoy coming here, and my cats like digging through the plastic bags for my spoils as soon as I get in the door. Petsmart beats the pants off of Petco for sure!

Every single time I come get fishes at this location, I always get harassed by the fish dept employees. They would ask me what size tank I have, how many fishes, how much gravel, how many plants, what’s the PH of my water, do I want to send my water in for testing, etc. Then they would use that information to discourage me from buying the fish if one of those parameters doesn’t fall into their criteria of a safe fish owner. I understand they have good intentions on educating customers, but discouraging customers on a purchase is very annoying. I have to lie just to buy a small goldfish. Even lying, they still will question me on it. For example, I have 8 goldfishes in my 40 gallon tank. I came in looking to buy a small black moor goldfish.
Employee: «what size tank do you have?» Me: «40 gallons»
Employee: «How many fishes?»
Me: «3 comet goldfishes» (I lied)
Employee: «Comets make a lot of ammonia so this moor goldfish would not be able to survive.»
Me: «I have an extra 10 gallon tank I can keep the black gold fish in.» (I lied)
They would get a heart attack if I told them I have two koi fishes, three large comets, and 3 organdas all in the same tank and 20 – 30 assorted tropical fish in my other 40 gal tropical tank setup. I’ve had these goldfishes for over two years and as long as you do quarter water changes per week and change the filter monthly, that should do the trick!
One of the goldfish I won at a fair and knew it wouldn’t survive so I bought a 40 gallon starter kit and it grew from there. Now that tiny goldfish grew huge despite being a feeder fish in a crowded tank.
Please pass out education fliers to customers or post a bulletin instead of harassing customers!

We live in Seal Beach and travel over here because Rozanne takes such great care of us and our cat. He is a Savannah and many places charge more or won’t even accept him, but she does a great job with him and is happy to see him most times that we come in. Lol. Rozanne is an asset to this location and company as a whole.
As for the store, it is huge and a large variety of everything needed to take care of your pet, regardless of species. I am so thankful that we have found this location and Rozanne. If you’re reading this Rozanne, or your boss, SHE DESERVES A RAISE.
