Hertz Rent A Car

Another not so good car rental company. I had a rental car for almost two months due to some lady crashing into my vehicle and totaling it. The car was from hertz rental, I have metro express lanes so I just put my transponder in the window since I knew I was going to have the vehicle for a while. I returned the car on Feb 4^th and and then after that my credit card was charged 4 different times without contacting me, sending me bills, nothing to inform me of what the charges were. I call and I find out 3 of the charges are from tolls, even though I had my transponder in the window… I spent hours with them on the phone having those charges returned, and they still charged me a fee! Then the fourth charge is they are saying I had the rental car for an extra day, which was approved by the insurance company, and now Hertz is saying it is not their problem that I need to figure it out myself. Ghetto car rental is what they should call this place. Wont be renting from here again.

I usually rent from hertz at the long beach airport which there cars are nice and always had a good experience my insurance company made me come to this hertz horrible experience got the car no gas in it also not cleaned my young daughter found a pill in the back seat what turned out to be a blood thinner pill came to drop off the car talked to a manager her and the other employee I told all this to could care less was almost like they wanted me to leave as fast as possible I will never return to hertz again they didn’t even say sorry or nothing

I’ve been to a lot of Hertz over the years. This place is slow but the customer service reps are wonderful & sweet.
My first car smelled like pot, second car smelled like cigarettes. Third times a charm. The Chrysler 200 they gave me was great.
I’ll be back because they’re cheaper & closer than the airport.

I rented a full size car and waited in line for one hour at which time they told us we could use the computerized kiosk. The man on the computer moved me from a Malibu to an impala and implied it was an upgrade. It was not. He also said the car had leather, it did not. The car had 33k miles rides poorly and he charged me 110.00 for an upgrade, that was not. Very dishonest and poor customer service. When I tried to talk to someone about this problem this morning by phone, I was on the phone for 64 minutes and was moved from department to department only to be finally told by a recording to call back. probably the worst experience I have had in travel in thirty years. Every contact has been dishonest and deceptive. Do not use hertz. And I was a gold member!

This place does not open early and there is no drop box for the key, no they do not let the customer know this, my daughter did not know this and that is why I told her I always use Enterprise!

So either the representatives learned their lesson from some of the horrible reviews on here or the reviewers are just pissy customers that expect the world to bow down to them. Either one is a possibility. My wife and I rented a car here today and had nothing but great customer service. I didn’t catch the name of the man helping us but he was extremely friendly and helpful. First he gave us a free upgrade from economy to mid-​size which made me very happy because I didn’t want to be driving around in an oversized roller skate, aka a Kia Rio. Then he gave us a 10% AAA discount, even though we don’t have AAA. He did all of this BEFORE he found out we had just gotten married and were on our honeymoon. When he found that out he said we didn’t need to bring the car back the next morning, as long as we got it back before they closed that day we were good. It was a pleasure renting our car from here

Are the people giving Mars & Doris good reviews related to them or did they happen to catch them on a day when there was NO business… or Venus retrograde… or they just losers lying in general?
Worst people ever to be working in the customer service industry & I’m forever going to Enterprise or National or hell, even Dollar rental despite them not advertising or doing any sort of branding.
Doris & Mars at Hertz disrespected my mom, a Cambodian-​American woman who does not understand English very well & then they were rude to my sister when she came over to translate. Then they were rude to my brother — when he called in to try to help — how is it that my entire family was dragged in to deal with these 2 sad excuses of sales and customer service reps when renting a car elsewhere takes a few minutes at most and involves half a persons attention span??! Their treatment of making my mom wait 3 hours & then sending her away pissed has now trickled down to getting me pissed. She may not know how to leave a Unilocal review but I sure do.
Of course she went to Enterprise soon after, with no reservation (unlike Hertz who knew she was coming) and was in & out in 20 mins. I guess Enterprise just knows how to deal with people whose primary language isn’t necessarily English (unsurprising talent for a company who is in the TRAVEL industry).
If they at all care about their customers, I expect a response to this, to the complaint my brother sent to corporate headquarters, & a flat out confession from all the positive reviewers for Doris & Mars to just admit you’re faking it. I’m not faking anything in this review.

Worst service I’ve ever had.
Doris and Mars both were so rude to everyone there and those calling on the phone. I couldn’t believe it. If you don’t like working in customer service then I don’t get why you still have your job. Even called hertz headquarters to complain. And I even did a survey that’s how dissatisfied I was with this place. And their cars omg their cars. Do NOT get me started. I’m so sorry if you have to come here I highly don’t recommend it.
I’ve been to other Hertz and Enterprise and I’ve never had to be there for more than 20 minutes to get my car and go. And yelling was never factored in when I rented my car. Just saying.

Wow. First of all, I’d like to point out that this wasn’t my first time here but it will be my last.

Doris AND Mars (cool name btw) gave mediocre service.
What really decided to make today my last visit and service and money, is the fact that I witnessed these two bullies yelling at some obviously not very American woman (spoke little to no english) and her daughter across the room because THEY (Doris & Mars) did not explain to them very well about their policy.
The daughter was very polite to them and tried to sort things out but they had no right to speak to them in such an undermining tone when it was their fault in the first place .
Seriously felt bad for those two.
Doris & Mars shouldn’t be working here if they’re going to treat their customers that way especially in a area of many minorities.
I ended up just walking out and went to enterprise across the street.
Which gave me a hefty discount on daily insurance you guys should just go there instead. Don’t bother wasting any time here.

Marss is awesome. They picked me up from the body shop and dropped me off when my car was done. Fast friendly and accommodating.

This place is a joke. You have a car reservation, they call you to confirm it, and then when you show up they don’t even have a car for you and you wait forever for them to get something transferred from another location. I’ve been here twice and it’s happened that way both times. The first time they were supposed to rent me something comparable to a Honda Civic. I end up in a Nissan Murano since it was the only car left. This time they called me to confirm when I’d be picking up and even asked what I drive normally. I get there and find out they want to give me a Toyota Corolla to replace my Nissan Rogue. After waiting forever and ever I end up in a POS Jeep Compass which, after 6 days of having it as a rental, keeps having the «change oil» alert pop up.

Thanks to Doris and the rest of the fabulous staff for making renting a car easy. With knowledgeable staff that always seem to make you feel at home, with smiles the agents guide you through their policy’s and help you to understand anything you need further in the process. The customer service is very good and when I had questions they were very fast to answer them.

Doris was very helpful!!! She was funny & made the experience fun. I had a bad day because some nut was texting & totaled my parked car on PCH. She kind of made my day better with her personality & I got a cool luxury car too.

Way cleaner cars and options than the nearby Enterprise but more often than not a long wait. But when there’s no wait the service is good.

Got a great deal from these guys– Was skeptical, but was won over by good customer service, and even better pricing– Was attempting to rent an SUV for a Tahoe road trip– tried everyone online, best pricing was in the $ 200 range– So took an online deal with Hertz for a «Luxury» vehicle– They said they could not guarantee what type of car they could give me when I came to pick up. This was disconcerting, but when I showed up to get my car, there was a Nissan Exterra available, and they let me have it for about $ 48 per day, all in taxes included.

I would totally give this place a negative 10 if I could. I found this Hertz through an auto body shop I used to repair my car from an accident, Quality Assured. The auto body shop agreed to cover my charges. Several months later I get a bill in the mail for $ 1108.41. I called Hertz, they said QA refuses to pay. So I call the auto body shop, they said they were under contract with Hertz then Hertz started billing out of contract and now they’re in the process of suing Hertz.
OK…so now I’m stuck with a bill because two companies can’t get their sh*t together. Never again will I rent from Hertz. They don’t care about their customers. All they care about is their money. If you were under contract with a company and you’re having billing issues with the company why the heck are you harassing the customer who had nothing to do with the issue??? All I did was go to Hertz to get a car that QA has offered to rent for me.
I’ve been threatened to be sent to collections by Hertz. It’s bullsh*t. I have to suffer because they have a billing issue with Quality Assured Collision Center. I’m still waiting on QA to call me back. They’re getting a review next depending on how this issue pans out.

From my sign-​in to walking out the door with the keys in my hand, the process was fairly quick. Although there is not no quality assurance in having the representative do a thorough walk-​around inspecting of the vehicle with you, basically «every man’s to himself.» The lady at the counter, Dana was polite and explained to me any and all additional charges, etc. I was orig. assigned a Chevy Malibu but then, b/​c it was not cleaned since the last rental, it was changed over to a Toyota Corolla.
May return, but worth still looking around for other deals before having to resort to making friends at the city bus stop.

It «Hertz» to come here. You’d better bring a book or something to occupy your time (or just write a Unilocal review) because both times that I’ve had to come here I’ve had to wait about an hour’s time.
They are majorly short staffed, it seems like there are only two employees here who have to juggle helping customers, giving people rides, washing cars and filling tanks… the employees were nice but nevertheless, time is valuable.
Thankfully insurance was covering the rental, wouldn’t have been my first choice.

Have always had great experiences with rentals at this location; I’ve been dealing with them even when they supplied fleet vehicles to my BMW dealer nearby. So loaners and personal rentals I’ve done.
The processing is always quick and painless and my vehicles have never had any issues.
Service staff is excellent and very professional
Will come again and again.
