Visiting town for an appointment and decided to give this place a try. My husband and I both LOVED the atmosphere from the moment we walked in, so unique. We both got burgers, I ordered the Southern Comfort and my husband ordered the Freshman 15. Both burgers were SO delicious along with our fried pickles and fresh peppercorn ranch(SOGOOD!!). The restaurant also offers some unique drink options from the fountain machine, I had the Watermelon Sweet Tea and my husband had the Maple Cheesecake Root beer… so delicious. The service was great, the restaurant was clean, and the staff were all very friendly. We both agreed when we were walking out that we cannot wait for our next visit and we will definitely be getting a milkshake next time too!

Wow. $ 60 for 4 kids. Then they wanted to charge me 75cents for a sauce for my cold sweet potato chips. Disappointed.

Best place to find food, music and drinks and let’s not forget the witty staff. Such a laid back atmosphere that if you don’t have a good time. Well that’s on you. Blessings and good day

Very tasty. A little on the pricey side but with the wild game I understand. Great brews on tap too!

I love this place!!! I had the Kevin Bacon and my husband had the Lots of Shrooms. I washed it down with bananas and Baileys milkshake. I was in heaven! The place is casual and the kids enjoyed playing outside. Got a kick out of the ticket names. We got Saving Private Ryan. Will definitely come back!

I love the atmosphere here. Delicious pickles and burger. Tried the shake today. It was good. I stick with the southern comfort. Love the fried pickles on the burger.

Twisted Root has a great ambience and atmosphere-probably one of the best in Shreveport. The back of the restaurant is open air, there’s a huge bar and it’s entertaining to listen as the orders are called for pickup based on the names of actors, singers, classic TV characters and random pop culture icons that were assigned to you as you place your order(Like– J.R. Ewing, Marge Simpson, Sting, Buzz Aldrin etc…). The ordering concept is one that seem to be growing in popularity. Basically it’s a custom made burger. You pick the meat — everything from standard beef, to bison, venison, elk etc… You pick the buns, toppings etc. There are some standard burgers on the menu to choose from but I would imagine that most people create their own. My main complaint is that the burgers were not as good as I hoped they’d be. They were on the thin side and a little dry and I really thought it would be a big, juicy patty. They do have a full pickle bar to choose from and mix and match every kind of picke that exists and that was kind of cool if you’re a picke fan. Plus they also are known for their adult liquor infused milk shakes which are always a fun concept.

I wasn’t impressed by anything in Shreveport, except by this burger joint. Plenty of personality, healthier burger options, flavorful, and character. With the celebrity names given, to the pickle jar, I was actually impressed. The buffalo burger was amazing, and I didn’t feel too guilty until my co-worker brought out the fried sampler apps and my diet went completely to crap, but it was all worth it. If I found this place in a big city, I would visit it there again.

The atmosphere is great but the burger patties are definitely lacking in flavor. It tastes like a frozen patty. Also, the burgers don’t have much topping on them. The adult shakes are fantastic and I love the way they call your order out. As far as a burger goes, though, I would recommend to go somewhere else.

Great burgers! I have tried rabbit and elk, neither was gamey or anything like that. Very good stuff. Sides offered; fresh pork rinds, green fried tomatoes, fries… I would go back again, and again.

I could not get over how special the burger was. Best in town. Got a free glass from the bar as a keepsake. My order name was Roscoe Jenkins. How cool is that?

This was my first time. I got the ranch hand and fries with s Long Island. Everything was good. The burger was a little dry. Burger was hot, fries tasted like they had been sitting under a lamp. Nothing fancy but they have more diverse options. I would recommend this place.

One of the better burgers in town. Many options for toppings and meats. Their blue cheese is awesome and I add it to every burger that I order. Definitely worth eating here.

I have been to this place once and the atmosphere is really nice and relaxing. They have a good selection of the types of burgers and you can also get the meat on a salad. I got some burger with teryaki and fried green beans. The best part of the meal was the fried green beans! There haven’t been many opportunities for me to eat fried green beans and I thoroughly enjoyed them. The burger was okay, kind of dry. I am not a huge burger fan so only a super delicious burger will please me. They have a bar and high top and booth seating. If you are looking for a unique burger or some friend green beans, this is the place to go.

Service: Self serve but at the bar… the bartender is always very helpful with any drink and suggestions you may need. 5⁄5 Food: not the best burgers i have had, but they are up there! Feeling adventurous??? yee haw try there GAMEMEATS — changes with season but I have tried the Kangaroo, Buffalo, and Elk all have been very delish. Whether you make it in to a burger or a salad, you will be well fed. They have a night during the week where you get to keep your own pints! Very Cool. Check them out!

I was in town for the day and was looking for a burger place and stumbled upon this gem. Fantastic atmosphere and does a great job of incorporating the local area with a huge selection of Louisiana beer and Shreveport décor despite being a Texas chain restaurant. There are so many things that this restaurant does right. The atmosphere and décor is outstanding. The menu was pretty impressive and on point for a burger joint. The ordering system is fun, they have their own drinks on tap at the coke dispenser which was a nice touch, there are some sauces available on the tables that are pretty good, and while not a fan of pickles, the pickle bar looked very cool. I did see a container at the bar labeled«bacon vodka» that looked tempting but I didn’t give it a try. There are plenty of gimmicks to keep you coming back to this place, for instance the offerings of exotic meat. The only reason that keeps this from being 5 stars is the beef patty. It should be the star of the show at any burger place, but while nice in size, it lacked any flavor and was quite bland and on the dry side. Regardless, with everything else this place does right, I will surly be back.

Stopped in on the way through town. Wasn’t all that optimistic, honestly, about the prospects for something head turning in Shreveport. But I was pleasantly surprised. Thanks to some good reviews on Unilocal — I took a chance on this place and am an instant fan. Love the look and atmosphere — open, lots of light, upbeat, trendy, good music that’s loud enough to enjoy but quiet enough so that you can actually talk to people — imagine that! Love the food — its a hamburger place — albeit a «top shelf» one. If you want steak or sushi — go somewhere else. If you want a standard food — hamburgers — raised to a whole new level with creativity and craft — this is your place. There are other things on offer — but clearly gourmet burgers is their mojo. I had the«Big Tex» — very nice. They offer local craft beers and standards — overall a solid bar that avoids the extreme lower and upper ends you find in other places. Service is excellent. Ask for«DJ» at the bar…

My brother brought me to this joint, because he knows that I’m a fan of creative burgers. For the most part, I applaud his consideration of my favors, but when I think back to my general experience, Twisted Root was good, definitely above average, but not quite worthy for a five-star nod, in my opinion. I’m not a resident of Shreveport or the state of Louisiana outright, so obviously my impression of if it’s location is good or not is completely invalid. All I know is that it was fairly easy to get to, and the establishment has a fairly large and spacious space, with a large parking lot with lots of free parking, and basically a backyard with cornhole and a playground for children. I actually have a hard time thinking of what kind of building this was that was repurposed for the restaurant that could have such things readily available. Either way, it was a Saturday evening right at the start of a traditional dinner time. Being a little early, it wasn’t difficult to snare two bar seats, and the bartender was amicable enough to chat beers and guide me towards something local and decent, since I try not to lean on familiar crutches, especially when traveling to places I’d never been to before. Ordering is done at a counter, where you will then be given a number, and will have to come back to retrieve when called. That being said, the line can look deceptively long, as towards the front is a cluster-f of people waiting to pick up their orders in the same place where people are waiting to place orders. All of the house specialty burgers have chintzy names like«The Kevin Bacon» or «The Freshman Fifteen» that try to give indication to what might be on them. Ultimately, I went with one whose name wasn’t as cool, but had the ingredients that sounded good to me at the time, «The Big Tex:» with guac, fried onion strings, chipotle sauce and cheese. One unique thing about Twisted Root is the abundance of pickles of varying varieties available. This is nice to me, because I love pickles in general, so it’s a slight bonus to be able to try things like garlic pickles, jalapeño pickles and stuff like that. As for the burger itself, it was good. Medium was pretty on the money, and it was constructed well enough to actually eat with your hands, and just enough of a mess to need a paper towel or two. Nothing in particular stood out about the burger in general, and everything just kind of blended together. I’m not saying it was bad in the least bit, but it also wasn’t a mind-blowing experience that I need to gush about how it deserves 50 stars. Overall, I liked Twisted Root. I could get an above-average quality burger and fries, along with a few beers and walk out having barely hit the $ 20 mark, which for such intricate criteria, is pretty good in my book. Service was nice, the space was cool, and if it weren’t the hellfire hot summer in which I visited, I could see this place as a fantastic place to sit around and lounge at soaking in suds that I certainly wouldn’t mind coming back to the next time I’m in Shreveport.

Amazing restaurant! Unique, fun atmosphere for the family. Unusual but cool drink options(watermelon tea, pineapple cider) Workers are friendly. Happy hour gives free souvenir glasses with each beer. Just overall fun place to eat with great food too! You won’t be disappointed!

Good bar — lots of craft beer. You order food from the line in front and then mosey over to the bar. Green Flash IPA excellent. Abita Iron IPA just decent. Ranch Hand burger not bad but not as good as many I’ve had recently. Properly cooked. Onion strings were a little greasy and limp. I wanted fried green tomatoes but that was a no go. Side salad is huge and full of bacon(bacon!!). Blue cheese dressing was basically a lump of blue cheese but I like blue cheese so that was fine. Good setup and friendly service. I’m tempted to upgrade to 5 stars in the category of Shreveport restaurants on a Sunday. Looking through Unilocal for a place to eat was discouraging. Glad I found Twisted Root.
