Woohoo! As good as it gets! :) They deserve 5 stars for their reasonable prices, delicious food, cleanliness and good service. I love their variety of Chinese food, sushi rolls, and hibachi. I suggest you go during 4 – 6 pm. When you go late night like 8 – 9 pm. their food may be not hot and not enough for you. lol Choose the right time, you will get the right food. lol (Whisper) They serve yummy duck on New Year!!! I swear it was duck!!! lol Let’s wait until next New Year and come with me! lol

Great food and atmosphere. The buffet was well stocked. Sushi variety was amazing for a lunch buffet. Selection for lunch was more akin to what others restaurants would only offer during the evening or weekend service. Food was excellent and drinks were also full.

Sumo has a huge buffet full of all kinds of Chinese food. I absolutely love sushi but you have to get to Sumo about two to three hours after they open. If you come late, the food has been sitting for awhile and no one likes sushi that’s been sitting out. The food is delicious especially for a buffet. For my hubby and I it’s around $ 22, no drinks. Which is well worth the money! Occasionally the food tastes like it’s been sitting out for awhile which is the reason I gave 4 stars.

Good food and plenty of parking. The sushi bar has a great selection. I have enjoyed the buffet here before and it is still good.

Generally speaking, I steer clear of restaurants with sneeze bars. I’m just not a buffet kinda gal. But tonight, my daughter and I were next door at the craft store, so we decided to pop in here for sushi and stir fry. The décor is nice. Everything is clean and there are lots of choices. The staff was attentive and friendly. Both of us were disappointed in the food. Very bland. The sushi didn’t seem fresh. The wonton soup broth was greasy and the wonton tasted awful. There was one peppery seafood dish that was not too bad. If I ever return, which is doubtful, I would probably try the hibachi. Judging by the veggies and meat choices, it seemed to be the freshest option. With tip, it was over $ 23 for one child and one adult buffet and waters.

Warning: You will become hooked on this place. I first tried it 3 weeks ago, and have returned 3 more times since then. Crab legs are fantastic! Everything is so freshM Of the 4 times I’ve gone, only once was I disappointed and it was more due to having to wait quite awhile — 15 min– for the crab legs but to be fair it was a Monday around 4 and the place was dead. It picked up when I was leaving. maybe 5 or so? The staff is super nice and it’s now my new favorite dinner spot.

In my opinion Sumo has the best sushi of any local buffet restaurant. In fact, it’s the only local buffet that I would recommend eating sushi from. It consistently tastes fresh, not questionable with an off-putting taste like what is found on the other area buffets. Is their sushi as good as the sushi you can order across the street at Sake Sushi? No. But you know going in to Sumo how much your bill will be when you are finished eating no matter what or how much you eat and you have a much larger variety of choices. Another thing that I find amazing is that if you go up to the person preparing the sushi and ask for some sashimi, some roe, or whatever you like(I like getting their salmon and white tuna sashimi(it’s actually escolar fish and not tuna at all as most places incorrectly call it) they will put a handful on your plate. In addition, lower sodium soy sauce is generally preferred with sushi and they keep some on the sushi bar for you near the wasabi and gari. So if you are a sushi lover and don’t want to spend a lot and you enjoy being able to grab a lot of Chinese food too, this is the place for you. This is what I consider economy sushi and Chinese food but still of good quality. Other things that stand out for me at Sumo: Their eagerness to please and their genuinely warm personalities: You want some dish that’s not on the buffet? Ask them and they might whip some up for you. Quite a while back they discovered I loved Mapo Tofu from a comment I made about me having prepared some of the best ever recently… yeah kinda odd being the carnivorous fella that I am. Anyway, they soon surprised me by bringing a freshly made pan of it out to our table and now I just ask them for some soon after I arrive if I’m in the mood for some. I once heard a new customer asking if they had fried fish and his answer was no but they could fix him some. Several of the workers will often pick up our 2 year old girl and walk around with her and entertain her while we go and get our food, just as they did with our 4 year old son when he was younger. Do you love fresh avocado? Within the sushi area they keep a large platter of freshly cut up avocado which they drizzle with their sweet sauce. What? All you can eat avocado? Yes indeed and if you notice it has gone empty just let them know and you will soon get to see them masterfully dissect and cut up a bunch more avocados. If you aren’t into sushi then you would probably not notice it as you quickly pass by the sushi area is utter disdain. Another item that is different from most other buffets, they have stuffed jalapenos. They are stuffed with the imitation crab meat and cream cheese stuff. This is an item that is a little different at times. Sometimes they leave a few seeds inside them which is a happy surprise to me as I love the heat but others might want to timidly take a few small bites at first. Also, sometimes they don’t cook them as much and they are more crunchy and expect them to be more hot then also. Occasionally whoever prepares them will put them in some light batter and deep fry them and when we notice that they were prepared this way, we light up with a hungry and frenzied eagerness to get them onto our plates. For your safety, please stand back! Also, if I or somebody like me is not there consuming them, they may not be fresh and hot and oh so yummy. If that is the case, keep lurking back to the area and pounce when you see them newly replenished. Oh, while I am on that topic I will share some other knowledge. If you ever find yourself at the Hana Steak Seafood & Sushi Restaurant on E. 70th St., they have a version listed under their sushi choices that will put you above Cloud 9. It’s called a Jalapeño Roll… but you will pay almost $ 8 just for that one item. You will find many of the same dishes on all the Chinese buffets. I like the spicy chicken dish best at Sumo. It’s actually a bit spicy and a tad sweet and has a flavor I like but as with any buffet, items depend on how long they have been in the serving bin and if you go at a not-so-busy off-time then the chicken might have hardened up some and you will need to snag some fresh when they bring it out and you can thank me later. They have a good hibachi where you choose your type of noodles, chicken, beef, little shrimpies, or any combination, veggies, and egg if you want it. You tell the cook which of the listed sauces you want and spicy or not.

For a chinese buffet this place is the bomb! I usually go during lunch time for the buffet which is a great deal. Every item I have eaten from the buffet is tasty. I even got the chicken wings once and was surprised that they were in the top 5 of chicken wings I’ve ever had. I am a pretty big sushi fan, and their sushi is okay with spicy mayo and soy. But it is good quality sushi for the price that you pay. The atmosphere is nice, there is a big selection at the buffet, and the service is good as well. If you’re looking for a good chinese buffet, this place is it!

Great selection, probably the most sushi I have seen at a buffet and neat atmosphere. Every time I go it seems to be muggy and floor is sweating. The food is all solid, however will not blow your mind by any means. Great value here.

I would not recommend this place. Very disappointed. I’ve never written a bad review in my life till now. My family went there for the first time on a Sunday and had a very unpleasant experience. Terrible service. Do not understand the basics of customer service. Misleading prices. Bland, unimpressive food. Kids took one sip of their lemonade & almost spit it out because it was terrible. Assumed that buffet price included drinks like most buffets in area. We were in a hurry & chose this place because when you walk in it says in large letters $ 8.99 for lunch(11am-3:30) & $ 11.99 for dinner. In far less legible letters and at very bottom it’s has a caveat that Sunday is one price($ 11.99). We fell for that. Expected a $ 30 something bill but got a $ 53+ bill. I pointed out the misleading sign & they did nothing. Told them that my kids lemonade was undrinkabable(showed the filled glasses). She admitted that the soda machine gets messed up. I waited for her to remove the $ 4 drinks from the bill & she didn’t. When I asked her she refused. Might have been a good idea as a simple gesture towards a new customer when we already had a poor experience. We eat regularly in that area & they had a chance to earn our business. They lost it. We or our close friends will not ever come back! Treat customers right or you will go out of business! Clueless!

Pretty decent place. Although the name implies Japanese, it is nothing much more that a Chinese buffet with a large offering of Sushi and perhaps a smattering of Japanese side salads.. My wife and I eat there pretty often and all in all, we always leave satisfied. The décor is attractive and the overall the restaurant is always clean. Service is usually friendly. Never noisy and crowded even when busy. The quality of food is consistent and good in general. The Sushi, considering it is not a Japanese restaurant, is very good. I haven’t anything bad to say about this place. It is as good as, if not better, than most of the Chinese buffets in Shreveport. You should be happy if you go.

Good buffet. Standard Chinese dare plus a good selection of sushi. Can’t beat that for the price. Under $ 10 for lunch, around $ 12 for dinner.

It’s worth going to if your looking for a buffet and don’t want to spend 24 $ a person at margaritaville. Spent 25 for wife and I. Don’t go for the, deserts, salads, or soup. The sushi is blow average .The different kind cooked chicken is their saving grace.

To be fair, my kids love this place. They have a decent hibachi grill and funny fortunes in their cookies. The service is good. The buffet is improving. Did I mention my kids love this place?

Well the 2 stars is really just for the fancy layout and décor of the restaurant. We came here because we saw the pictures of the sushi buffet and it looked interesting. But of course, «sushi buffet» tasted just as bad as it sounds. Dried up brown avocado and dried raw fish. The ones that weren’t dried still tasted stale. The fried rice was stale, old, dried up, chewy, just not good, and the rest of the food was either average or simply not good. It was $ 24 for 2 people: $ 12 a person?! That’s expensive for a Chinese buffet, and it was not good, at all. We will not be coming back.

Love this place! Hugh sushi bar with choices like spicy crab roll, rainbow roll, and dragon roll. The chinese food section is very good with lots of the regular choices like beef broccoli, honey chicken, and general tso. There is plenty to eat, something for everyone, even choices for people who do not want Asian food. The restaurant is clean and has a modern classy feel to it.

Just okay. There are better Asian buffets in this part of town. The sushi guys act like you’re putting them out if you ask for a replenishment of the empty trays.(Plus, sub-par sushi, but it is a Shreveport buffet.) Same standard fare you would find at other places. Food is okay when its fresh, but when the place is empty(tip: if the parking lot’s empty, keep driving) the food sits and becomes inedible.(Brown green beans, anyone?) Rates above average for ambiance. Lots of granite and attempts at upscale décor. Something is definitely wrong with their sewer line because it smells like a campground por-ta-let today.(It also smelled at Dollar Tree next door.) I would definitely change my rating if the quality was higher on a subsequent visit, but will likely not come again.

Woooo-weeee! The BEST Chinese food buffet in all of Shreveport Bossier! This place is clean, cheap and has a vast selection of all types of Asian dishes as far as the eye can see! I filled up on sushi, crab rangoons, General Tso’s chicken, fried rice, Sumo’s own homemade fried chicken, hot and sour soup, etc… for dessert, you can get your own individual, pre-wrapped in its’ own container of Blue Bunny ice cream: I got chocolate and vanilla. The cost of the adult buffet on a Saturday afternoon was only $ 7.79! They serve fountain coke products, including Coke Zero, which will run you an extra two bucks. They have flat screen televisions around the restaurant, which had the sound down, but were on ESPN and college football which was nice. The overhead radio in the restaurant had to be on Sirius or something, because it was seriously pumping the jams(but it wasn’t loud, or anything… it was like a dentist’s office with the volume.). While I dined, I heard U2, Kenny Wayne Shepherd(Shreveport’s own, btw!) and Jimmy Eat World, among others. It was a very nice dining experience and my server was fantastic! Please tip your servers, even if it’s a buffet, people!
