Dough Basket & Creative Cakes

I’ve been ordering my daughter’s birthday cakes from Jessica, the owner, since the very beginning. She is an extremely talented artist and can tackle any design you have in mind for your special occasion. The bakery is located right in front of WalMart so it’s very convenient to pick up a treat before shopping for groceries. I mean, they do say don’t go grocery shopping hungry. Right? The cake pops are to die for, especially the birthday cake pops. They also have fun macaroons, cookies and cupcakes. There are tables set up and a soda machine so you can dine in too if you don’t want to take your treats to go. Oh yeah, the best part is that they don’t charge a ton of money for their bakery items. The prices are ridiculously fair for the beautiful work they do. This will always be our go to bakery for sweet treats big and small.

A great place to fill in one of the few spaces left vacant by the seemingly sudden departure of a few area Quiznos sandwich shops. The Dough Basket is located in a tiny strip mall along with Marble Slab Creamery and Little Caesars Pizza, that is basically in the foot of the Bert Kouns Wal Mart’s parking lot, across from McDonalds. Also in the near vicinity is Copeland’s Restaurant and Tinseltown movie theater. By the looks of it, I ignorantly assumed that this was just an order up kind of bakery, which they are, but they also make individual items: fresh cookies and cake pops as such, for individual order. Their recipes are of equal parts imagination and inspiration. During my first visit, they were selling chocolate cupcakes made with Guinness Stout Beer and topped with real, fresh strips of bacon! They also had Nestor cake pops if different flavors and design, and cookie flavors galore. All for individual sale. The average price of these items ranged from $ 1.25 to $ 2.50. They can also make a large cake for any special occasion! They are open mostly during daytime hours, this is a great place to stop before or after a movie at Tinseltown for a treat!
