Athena Greek & Lebanese Grill

Delicious authentic food. Got the vegetarian falafel platter, it came with falafel, hummus, baba ghanoush, tabouli salad, pita & grape leaves. Very generous portion and great flavors. My husband got the fried eggplant sandwich which was also flavorful. They also have hookah on the patio which was a nice surprise. The hookah was clean and there was plenty of flavors.

The service was excellent as was the food. I cant think of anything negative about our experience.

This is definitely a place you have to check out if you’re in the Shreveport area. The service was awesome. I didn’t catch the name of my waiter but he was very lovely, originally from London. One if the best customer service experiences I’ve experienced in this city. He made the experience worthwhile.
Oh, and the food is amazing! Try the chicken kebab. It comes with rice, salad, humus, pita bread and vegetables.
The place is quite easy to get to as it is near the base. They also offer military discounts on Mondays on the buffets. I believe it is two dollars off.

My criteria for an excellent meal is whether I would come back to the restaurant for this meal — not only is that true for Athena-​I would come back to this town to be able to eat again at this restaurant– which I definitely will! Food and service top notch! Enjoyed the Athena plate for two — which was a sampler– but we ordered extra Gyros and tabbuleh and baklavah everything was beyond excellent– guaranteed not to disappoint!

We have lived in the Shreveport area for over 30 years and just now found this place… what is wrong with us? We decided to try something different (so sick of chain restaurants) and heard that Athena was good so when a business associate came to town we thought we would give it a try. SO GLAD WE DID! It was a Wednesday night and the restaurant was slow so we had our pick of tables. The food was wonderful, service from Alexis was great, atmosphere was perfect for conversation (even the background music was good) and the price was on point and fair. Make reservations on the weekend and do yourself a favor and save a little time to shop in the market in the back. Over all a great experience!

Ok… my girlfriend and I were in the mood to try something different. I had never had Greek/​Lebanese food before, and she’s not exactly an adventurous eater, so when she agreed to go give it a try, I jumped at the chance! I’m giving this 5 stars, but for those of you who already know Greek/​Lebanese, keep in mind that I don’t have any other experiences to compare my visit to.
Atmosphere: Wonderful! Everything is impeccably clean! Our waiter, AJ was superbly courteous and friendly, and while we waited a very short time for our food to arrive, we enjoyed listening to soft music in the background. We enjoyed looking at the hookahs in the front lobby!
Service: Again… top shelf! I can’t say enough good things about AJ. He came to our table just the right number of times (nobody likes a pesky waiter that comes around too much, and of course there are the ones who never show up after serving the food). AJ… right on! I told him that I was new to the Greek/​Lebanese experience, so he even took the time to explain to me what each item was, what it’s seasoned with, and how it is prepared!
Food: This has to be one of the most unique flavor experiences I have ever had! I thoroughly enjoyed every single bite! We started with a sampler appetizer, which included a falafel (I still don’t know what that is) kibby, grape leaf (1 ea of meat and vegetarian), 3 kinds of dips (each one very good!) I had the chopped lamb with hummus, and she had the fried eggplant. She was also very happy with her food.
Price: We both left full, and the bill was under $ 50. I’d say that’s about as reasonable as it gets!
I will definitely be going back, maybe next time for some pasta or seafood, for yet another unique experience! Thanks AJ!

This place is constantly impressive. They staff is always pleasant and the food is always good. I made the mistake of never trying their pasta before but upon my last trip here I did. It was outstanding! Before you leave be sure and browse their grocery store in the back.

Early lunch on a Saturday by myself.
I ordered a chicken shawarma sandwich which clearly stated that it came with a salad and hummus. I even asked my waitress what came on the salad, and she told me. When she delivered my food she said she «forgot» that the lunch menu didn’t come with a salad. It’s Saturday. The menu says the lunch menu is only served Monday-​Friday. I’m ordering a sandwich for «regular everyday price» so that shouldn’t be the case. When I asked about the hummus, she said it didn’t come with that either and tried to sell me the $ 5 appetizer hummus. No, thanks.
While the sandwich was good (a bit dry), the service was very poor. I probably won’t be coming back.

My experience dining in at Athena was so lovely! From the moment I walked into the restaurant until the moment I left was completely exceptional! I would highly recommend making Athena your go to place to eat not only because of the AMAZING customer service but because of the exquisite Mediterranean blend of gourmet foods they have to offer. My favorite is the Chicken Shawarma plate with a side of Baba Ghanoush, pita bread and a side salad. My server AJ was amazing!!! He greeted me at the door with a positive attitude and a huge smile and I can’t help but say it was contagious! My order was perfect and I never had to ask for a refill or hot bread because he was on top of everything!!! If I could rate Athena higher I would!!!

My wife and I were having a night at the boats and needed a nice dinner. Opened up google maps, searched ‘Greek’ and were there in no time. My town only sells hamburgers, chicken, pizza and Mexican food. (Not that there is anything wrong with that…) but I enjoy eating something different every now and again.
We ordered a plate for two, a dessert and a couple of coffees. The server was amazing in explaining what every thing was, and the food was superb. I absolutely am not a person that can or can’t vouch for the authenticity, but after eating a nice sample of their food I would order just about anything on the menu with confidence. We will absolutely be back, thank you for a great experience.

Found this place on Unilocal while searching for somewhere serving vegetarian dishes. So excited I did!!! Had a great lunch sampler plate. All good but the baba ghanoush was exceptional, worth the trip by itself. My aunt had a gyro plate and enjoyed it.
The service was prompt and friendly. Our waiter asked if we were familiar with the cuisine so he could help us through the menu if we weren’t– so important if you’re trying new things. Saturday nights they have a hooka lounge set up outside, fun to try.
There is a small grocery area attached that has middle eastern specialities. This is the place to find grape leaves!
I’ll definitely be back when I’m in town again.

I’ve travelled extensively in the Middle East.
Lived in London for 28 years.
Grew up eating Greek food in Camden Town, so I’m pretty well-​versed in this kind of cuisine.
Now, this place isn’t Greek.
It’s Lebanese, or possibly Israeli Arab, but it is great… and it’s in Shreveport???
We started with falafel, which was light and properly seasoned, then followed with the platter for two, which was excellent.
Only suggestion I would make is that they smoke the aubergine from which the baba ganoush is made a little longer.
Reasonably-​priced, very friendly, relaxed service, we will keep coming back.

My boyfriend and I eat here every once in a while (about once every few weeks) and EVERY single time we have fantastic service. We really love AJ to wait on us because he has a wonderful personality and is super efficient. I have been going to this Athena since I was about 18 years old. The service has definitely improved but the food has always remained 100% consistent and delicious. We always get lentil soup and combo plates. I am always pleased with my service and the quality of everything. Give them a try :)

I just moved into the state I needed a place were its kids friendly and has a family vibe 2 it. The food was Amazing they all types of meat and chicken and has a lot of different options to choose from. The kids enjoyed the gyro meat and fries. I wish I could have taken pictures the next trip. I loved all the sides they had from the humus to the tebulea if I spelled it right. See u soon Athena

Great food, fast service, and reasonable prices. Appetizer must: fried cheese. We kept the plate just to use for the oil for dipping pita in — yum! Combination and gyro plates were excellent. They don’t serve alcohol (fine by us), but you can bring in your own bottle. Great find!

I am a regular to Athena’s. It is so yummy, and it never disappoints. The best hummus in the city, and the pita is always hot and soft when they bring it to the table. I don’t know how they cook their egg plant sandwich but i order it every time, its SO delicious. I would recommend this very highly to a visitor.

Reliable and fresh Mediterranean here any time we have tried. We came back for a couple of dinner plates — gyros and kabob combination on this day.
