So my boyfriend and I came in to look at the kittens/​cats… Our dog (small 9 year old little guy) has lived with my sisters cat for several years and now that she has moved we were maybe thinking of looking for a companion for him. Plus we are used to having cats around…
The front desk girl was sweet and put us on the list to wait for a cat counselor. However, when we met this lady she was extremely rude and condescending. She basically told us that we needed to educate ourselves and read literature on cats and dogs cohabiting. That in almost all cases this wasn’t going to be possible and her prime example was videos of cats and dogs fighting on YouTube. Lol! She also stated that the best possible situation could be that the cats and dogs could live together but they would never be amicable. Furthermore she stated that cats and dogs are not supposed to live together because they are different species. She introduced us to one cat and then proceeded to tell us that the cat was annoyed with the way we were petting it. We left laughing because we couldn’t believe what had just happened… Retrospectively thinking back on our experience we realized how incredibly rude and unnecessary this woman was. Even if everything she said was true, there are better ways to «educate» and treat potential cat/​kitten adopters.

Great organization with fabulous staff. Have been to others and this one by far the most organized, clean, and helpful! We adopted two lovely rescue kittens. Even our vet was impressed at how well and thorough the paperwork provided was for their first visit.

I think we had a unique experience walking in. I immediately felt judged and the one lady helping us was very rude and passive aggressive. We came to adopt a kitten and she seemed to want to talk us out of it. I’m hopeful that all the staff members aren’t as rude as she was as this place seemed real nice. They also only adopt kittens out in pairs which seems nice but realistically seems like you are jeopardizing a cats future as most families wouldn’t be able to take two. We have a good home and 8 year old cat and would really be able to give a kitten a forever home but we left several kittens behind because of this rule. Unfortunate.

Our experience at Seattle Area Feline Rescue was excellent. We adopted two kittens (from the same litter) on Halloween. We were greeted when we arrived and had only a short wait to visit with all of the kittens. I liked that they only allowed a few people in to visit with the kittens at a time, which kept things calm and not crowded. All of the kittens/​cats seemed well cared for and healthy, and the housing for them was spotless and spacious. Lots of room to play. Their adoption fees are reasonable and consistent with other shelters — one thing we especially liked was knowing that the profits from all of the kitty supplies we purchased went straight back to the shelter (and the prices on these items were no higher than any other pet supply store). Our new family members have settled right in and are happy and healthy.
The staff was kind and explained everything we needed to know. My only wish list item would be to offer the forms we had to complete online so that we could have saved time while there and have them pre-​filled out. But beyond that, I’d recommend this shelter without hesitation.

I have wanted a cat for years! Unfortunately, living in an apartment has some restrictions. So as soon as my landlord gave the OK, my husband and I drove to SAFe! What’s really cool about this organization is that they have a Facebook page entitled «Adopt-​Less-​Adoptable Cats.» During one of their posts they highlighted a female black cat that recently had kittens. I knew that moment I saw her those girls were meant to be mine!
The crew at SAFe were so welcoming when we first entered, allowing us to look around and just engaging in pleasant conversation. They led us directly to the momma cat and her kitten and when I saw my husband interact with them, I knew it was meant to be! The staff and volunteers were able to answer all our questions, showed us all of their records, and even informed us that their initial vet check, within 2 weeks of adoption, was part of the adoption process. Plus, the center also sells food, toys, carriers, just in case you need anything and all the money goes to a great cause.
Now more than a month later, Ivy (the black cat) and her daughter, Harley Quinn (her kitten!!) have completed my little family! The girls do everything with us! I highly recommend this place to anyone who is interested in including an additional little body to their family!

Last weekend I went to several animal rescues/​shelters/​humane societies in search of my perfect kitty. I found many great contenders, but I didn’t fall in love with any of them until I met Sir Graybeard at Seattle Feline Rescue! He actually wasn’t for adoption — a volunteer told me that, but I was a little pushy, and they eventually let me pet him. I was totally sold! After that I couldn’t go to any more shelters, I knew he was the cat I wanted. I emailed the volunteer, Bia, regularly to find out when Graybeard would be ready for adoption. The reason for this was that he was having some medical issues that they weren’t sure about yet, and they would not adopt out animals that could possibly have some issues. I respected that! Bia was very kind and understanding, and even though they didn’t allow holds on animals, she reassured me that would have a chance to get him once he was available. And I did! A little less than a week later she called me to let me know that he had went to the vet, and they found out what was going on with him, and turns out he was okay! I’m so happy. I brought him home yesterday, and he is perfect. He adjusted very quickly to his new surroundings and just purrs and sleeps in my lap while I read. I could not be happier, and I owe a lot to Seattle Feline Rescue for being so nice, helpful, knowledge, just everything you would want from a place like this. Like I said before, I went to a lot of different shelters, and there were a few that were not very good at all pertaining customer service/​support, and obvious care of the animals. Seattle Area Feline Rescue is not that! I’m glad I found this place. Thanks so much!

My husband and I came here after losing our cat after having her in our lives for 18 years. Having an empty home became too unbearable so we came to look. We were warmly greeted and asked some simple questions on if we had a pet in the home and what we were looking for. They led us to a cat named Paulette, brought her out so we could play with her in a safe and supervised environment. We checked out a few other adorable cats, but I really felt a connection for Paulette. She had been there for a little over a month due to her cloudy eye and being Fiv positive, but was playful, warm and wanting a home. I decided that she should come home with us. They answered all of our questions, showed us all of her records from their care and made sure we were comfortable and ready for her.
I cannot express enough how grateful we are for them taking her in after she was rescued at an apartment complex and helping her to be safe, healthy and warm. She is a wonderful cat, and we already love her so much. If you are ready for a cat and are willing to take one with special needs, they have wonderful cats that are ready to go home with you!

I cannot say enough good things about this organization. We had to give up one of our kitties due to intercat conflict, and it killed us to do so. We agonized during every one of the nights she spent at SAFR, but in just over a week (during the difficult holiday period), she was placed with a simply perfect family. Our volunteer contact, Bia, was in constant communication with us about her and couldn’t have been kinder or more understanding of our worry. When I took our kitty in, I was extremely impressed by the orderliness of the process, cleanliness of the facilities, and size/​quality of the individual spaces and amenities for the cats. Great care is taken to match the right cat with the right new home.
I have worked extensively in animal rescue myself and enthusiastically recommend the Seattle Area Feline Rescue.

I went here a couple weeks ago to look at the kittens for adoption. The inside of the building looks very nice and clean, and the cats seem happy. The staff were very helpful in showing me/​talking to me about the kittens they had available. I ended up adopting one of them the next day and it’s been great having the new kitten so far. The adoption fees seemed very fair as well, and the paperwork and info they give when adopting is very thorough.
I highly recommend this place if you are looking to adopt a cat.

This is a focused rescue with a great new adoption center. I’ve adopted 4 cats from them and all have been in great health with any support needed to make the adoptions successful available to me.

I’ve been fostering for this organization for over a year now (I started when it was still in another location) and would not hesitate to refer friends/​family if they are looking for a furry friend.
The staff takes excellent care of the kitties, from providing necessary medical care to feeding them quality (not junk) food. I’ve just had to provide kitties with a shelter at my house and lots of love.
The staff is organized and knowledgeable. Most (if not all?) of them are volunteers. They are serious about caring for all the kitties and ensuring that they go to good homes.
Go check out this no-​kill rescue if you’re looking to adopt a furry friend! Or consider fostering a kitty because it’s a very fun and rewarding experience.

I went to their opening. Amazing facility! The cages are huge and obviously big enough for the cats to be comfortable. I also got a tour of the back and everything is well stocked and organized. The staff are very helpful and seem to love their job. Overall, it’s obvious how well they take care of their cats. Great place.

2 years ago we adopted Ramses, an adorable grayling Aby who has since become the head of our household. Since then I’ve become a supporter of so many of their «long term» guest included Benny, Rollo and other lovable cats that would have otherwise been in dire circumstances.
What they do is great. They go out of their way to find the right cat for you.

I have been volunteering here for about a month. This place is absolutely wonderful! All the volunteers I work with are kind and truly care for the cats. I live cats! Adrian is also really great and helpful when I’m not sure what to do. The place is kept so clean and tidy. The cats are so fun to be around.
If you’re looking for a place to adopt, this is the place to go! It’s a no-​kill shelter because it isn’t government funded. They say no to kitties, which is sad, but it means that the cats that are there have better lives. Please come in and support SAFe. It’s a great shelter. :)

I must admit, I have a pretty serious allergy to cats, but I still love them! I came in to get some business cards to give my friends who DO want to adopt. The woman who helped me was friendly and helpful. She obviously loves cats and truly cares to help. I recommend this place for anyone looking for a new family member.
