I have been ordering this sirup for a couple of years now. I have it delivered to the Chicago area. It’s pricey for delivery, but well worth it. I buy a gallon(two 64 oz. jugs) every year. That will last my sons and I a year. I love that it’s natural and has no high fructose corn syrup or other harmful ingredients. I haven’t bought anything else in a couple of years and will continue to buy this as long as it’s available. Love it!

Yep… A FIVESTAR Review! If you find yourself on the Mother Road, The Historic Route 66 half the way from Chicago to St. Louie you absolutely must stop at Funk’s Grove just south of Bloomington and Shirley, Illinois. I just did a 5 day Road Trip inside the state Illinois with my Mother and Grandmother! Years ago I had read about Funk’s Grove Sirup and always had it marked on the list of places to visit. Our 1st stop inside the Prairie State was Funk’s Grove for a bottle of their Pure Maple Sirup. Our last day out of Illinois we stopped again. Yes Pure Maple Sirup so good I made two stops, and based that only on a taste of the first bottle I purchased. It was so good I knew the 4 bottles I bought for myself, and family would never last and or I would be asked why I did not get everyone some. Let me just be up front and tell you. Once you try this version of Pure Maple Sirup you will have a really hard time going back to the processed, national brands that you by at your local super market that is supposed to taste like Maple Syrup. This is a small mom and pop, family farm operation that has been along the famous road for a very long time. They took what can be a difficult process and produce the very best Pure Maple Sirup I have ever tasted. I mean WOW! This stuff was good and I am already looking up some recipes to use it on other than just breakfast! Do yourself a favor stop here! Make sure you check their schedule and see when they are open and or have plenty of Sirup on hand. Both of my two stops they had a full house of visitors. My 1st stop had about 20 people from Australia driving the Historic Route 66 the whole distance from Chicago to California and they were stopping at as many historic businesses as they could along the Mother Road My 2nd stop before leaving Illinois included another bus load of folks stopping in for the tour on how they make the Sirup and then making purchases. This is a great educational stop for the kids as well because they can see how agriculture and family farming works, and the product comes straight from the trees on their property into the tanks for processing. It’s all right there for you to see how this Pure Maple Sirup is made. Yep… A FIVESTAR Review that ought to be a 6.

We can no longer be objective about this place, but if you become a regular Funks Grove Maple Sirup customer, then you will no longer be able to be objective either. How much better can you compliment a business than to wish your last name was«Funk?» We love this family from Glaida all the way down to the newest baby. When you buy maple syrup from a store, or any product for that matter, at most, you receive a standard«thank you for shopping» mantra that means nothing. If you are lucky the manager of the store will add a «thank you.» When you buy maple sirup here, you might as well become their neighbor, because that is how you will be treated. Of all the places on Route 66, this is the one little village we would most like to live in. The weather is not comparable to SoCal, Arizona, or Texas, but it takes cold winters to make maple trees do their magic. What makes up for the cold winters is the tropical climate of heart in this little town. When we last purchased sirup here on June 15, we left with mutliple hugs after spending about an hour outside passing the time with much of the family.

Note: Unilocal address is wrong — see the directions on their website or you’ll probably get lost: Sooo glad we caught these guys at the end of their work day on one of the last days of the season last year! We were both on diets so we were just going to buy whatever smallest jar they had available. That is, until we tasted the friggin stuff. Holy YUM. Their syrup is bright, it is smooth, it has a buttery candy flavor that caused me to grin involuntarily. Ended up getting a pint for $ 11.(They do also have some tiny, adorable 100ml jars for only $ 3.50, and half-pints for $ 7.)

If your looking for pure maple sirup this would be where to get it. We called in late february and we were told in 2 weeks that the 1st tapping would be ready. We went in to the store and they had different sizes available for sale and it was offered in a decorative old style plastic jug. They also had it in my glass bottles(my favorite). The lady selling it offered us a sample and we were eager to taste some, which was out of this world. We then bought some sirup and also got some of there maple sirup treats and they were real good and all natural. We started to walk out and the lady there told us we could go into the next room and actually see it being made. So that was a real neat and educational. As you drive in or out you’ll see all the buckets hanging on the trees of the ones that are being tapped for the sirup. This is a must stop if your in this area and its very easy to get too as well.

Stopped in while riding Rt 66 back to St Louis from Chicago… initially intended on stopping while heading up to chicago… as a Syrup lover I never knew what my life was really missing until I had Sirup with an I! Adding that letter makes ALL the difference! If you dont want to end up buying the gallon jug I suggest you DONOT accept the friendly ladies offer for a taste This Sirup is totally worth the money! A delicacy to be enjoyed as a treat/reward, for your tastebuds! I bought the half pint of Sirup and have been a little afraid to open it because I may want to just drink it straight!(Seriously I love Sirup!) but Ive only got so much and Its one of those things that you want to make last. so next time I will bring extra money to buy the Big Boy! Thanks Funks Grove!

SO tasty! Love this stuff… it’s as pure as you can get. If you’re lucky you can walk back into the boiling room and see huge vats of sirup being processed. It smells so amazing!

Stopped in recently while driving Route 66; nice shop with many sizes of sirup available along with magnets, some shirts, books, etc. A must see on this stretch of the Mother Road.

I’ve always heard about Funks Grove Pure Maple Sirup. As a Route 66er I knew when I was down this way, I had to stop in. Now I heard a ton of hype about the sirup. Like a lot of things, living up to the reputation is hard. So I had my doubts. Well, that all changed when I stopped in. We were able to sample the sirup. I almost dropped to floor… it was that good. It was so sweet and buttery. This sirup beats the pants off of all others. I don’t think I can go back to the crap in the store, even other pure syrups. For the price, you cannot beat it($ 5.95 for a half pint). It’s definitely worth the visit to Funks Grove. And as one of the staples of an Illinois Route 66 trip, you will not be disappointed. I was fortunate enough to get a little mini tour of the building where the sirup is produced. Equally as exciting(as a gear-head) was the bevy of classic cars stopped in to tour the grounds as well. Five stars isn’t enough for Funks Grove Pure Maple Sirup!

I’m writing this review as I’m eating blueberry pancakes topped with delicious Funks Grove Pure Maple Sirup. I was sure I would be the first to review the place, but I should have known better. With sirup this good and a location on Route 66, of course some savvy Unilocaler would’ve already claimed the«First to Review» badge! We made our first visit to Funks Grove on our Rt. 66 vacation in 2006 and we haven’t bought maple sirup(or syrup) from anywhere else since. I’m lucky enough to make regular trips up I-55 to visit family in Chicago, so when we’re running low on sirup, we crank the James Brown(you know, to keep it funky) and exit the interstate for a brief maple sirup detour to Funks Grove. This stuff is tremendous. It trumps all other pure maple syrups I’ve ever tasted with its rich, buttery, complex flavor. If you’re lucky enough to visit their cabin in the woods, they’ll offer you a sample – but you can safely order their sirup(and candy and maple cream) online with the knowledge that it’s going to be damn good, no sample necessary. Check out their little place on your next trip through Illinois, visit the website for their story and why they prefer«sirup» to syrup, and get your hands on some of this stuff as soon as you can – it’s terrific for cooking and makes a stack of pancakes a special treat. P. S. They do have a port-a-potty on the property for those weary Rt. 66 travelers, but I recommend the Shell station off I-55. :)

What a neat little place… just a a down to earth place in the middle of great Illinois farmland. You get what you pay for; amazing«sirup» as they call it!

Mmmm… so delicious. At the risk of being excommunicated as a New Englander, seriously — this stuff is better than what gets tapped out of the trees in the Northeast. it’s smooth and insanely buttery.
