Why doesn’t this place have better reviews?!? The fiancée and i had a nice time here at our first visit. She had the quesadilla and taco combo, and i had the chile verde. The wait staff was friendly. Seems like a lot of regulars, but the staff was still nice to us.

This place has the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. Everything is really fresh. The service is great and the restaurant itself has a great vibe to it.

Very sub par quality food. I order fish tacos, and specifically asked if they were grilled. There was not a single grill mark on the fish. It was chunks of white fish topped with cabbage, onion and sauce on top. The rice was very dry like it was a day old and beans lacked flavor. My husband also did not the like the food, we have had better

You should come here. It is such an authentic professional restaurant. The owner has created a calm atmosphere with an inside fountain. Its truly one of a kind experience. A place you can eat and relax with no one making any judgements about you. Im having a bloody maria while i wait for my carne asada fajitas. This chips and salsa are very good. Lets see how my main meal is… OMGFAJITASARESOGOOD!!!

I really wanted to like this place. The servers were friendly but slow. Our food was awful. My husband ordered the beef chimichanga and I had the beef taco and cheese enchilada. The beef was way over cooked, inedible, I had to pull it out of my taco. The cheese enchilada sauce was heavy on the tomato flavor with a tangy sweetness that didn’t taste right. The salsa served with the chips wasn’t good at all. My husband’s beef chimi tasted like a saucy pot roast with no flavor. The guacamole served on his plate was brown, and not fresh at all. We will not return.

Great ambiance and food. Helpful staff that took the time during lunch to recommend dishes and answer questions.

Margarita = 3 stars. Food = undesirable. Chips tasted like they left them in grease far too long. All we could taste was lard. Service wasn’t satisfactory to us. Service is unsatisfactory when not even water is refilled and they weren’t busy. Food had lots of cheese but aside from that, isn’t settling well.

Horrible! Worst Mexican food in the area! Over salted, disgusting brown guacamole, greasy frozen and or canned vegetables. Sorriest excuse for Mexican food I’ve ever seen. Inedible! Stay away!!! Far away!!!

We have eaten at this restaurant about once a month for four years. We have never had a bad meal or poor service. The food has always been fresh and flavorful, service has always been friendly and attentive. On top of that, you get live music on Fridays and Saturdays and the prices are very reasonable. Portions are so large that we usually split an entrée and get two margaritas(made from fresh ingredients, not a mix) for about $ 20. It’s the best Mexican restaurant in West El Dorado County.

Good Chile Verde and posole. Shredded beef taco salad is good too! Service a little fast but maybe because we were here when they first opened and we were the only ones here

I am pretty darn upset with this restaurant. I purchased a Groupon to try Que Viva out because it is by my house and I had never tried it before. The Groupon was for«$ 10 for $ 20 worth of food and two drinks». The drinks were decent, the margarita was a little too artificial for me but the beer, of course, was good. When it came to food I ordered chicken fajitas and my husband got a beef chimichanga. The chicken was lacking flavor and really tough. My husband was satisfied with his chimichanga but it certainly was not his favorite. However, their salsa was one of the best I have tried. At first I was willing to give them 4-stars based on the service, even though the food wasn’t that good. Our server was really nice, very prompt and consistently checking in on us. That was until the bill came… When the bill came the total owed was a little over $ 12 and since we had already purchased the Groupon I was wondering why we still had a balance. I calmly asked the server, thinking she made a simple mistake, and she instantly got defensive. She told me that we still had to pay for the drinks and the Groupon is simply suggesting we purchase drinks. I showed her the Groupon with clearly states«AND drinks» and she began to argue with me. Granted, it is only $ 12 but it is the principal of the matter — we had already paid. She got the owner of the restaurant involved who was instantly irate at us and accusing us of stealing her food and refusing to pay. She was using foul language, yelling, and basically threatening me and calling me stupid because I was not wanting to pay for the drinks and«didn’t understand her Groupon correctly». At this point, I was really upset because she was pacing back and forth throughout the restaurant for about ten minutes and causing a terrible scene, making me feel like a horrific person. She had the audacity to take my phone, go to another table, and ask them to interpret the Groupon because she could not believe or understand what it meant. Of course, they interpreted as we got $ 10 worth of food AND drinks. This got her even more upset and would not let us leave until she spoke with the maker of the Groupon. It took another ten minutes before she spoke with them and when she did she was yelling at them because of their«printing mistake». When everything was said and done she had to honor the Groupon because that was what she advertised and I stood up for myself. I apologized, even though I had nothing to be apologetic about, and I explained to her that she published the Groupon to entice new customers but her behavior would drive everyone away. She then told me she did not care and told us to never come back. When it comes down to it, any restaurant owner who would act like that over $ 12 is not worthy of any business and she is a very angry woman who has horrible customer service skills. People deserve to be treated well and this is not a place I would ever patronize or recommend to anyone. Save your money and go somewhere where the food is good and the service is better.

Stopped by here on our way to Tahoe and whoa, this place looks like it came straight from an episode of «Restaurant: Impossible». Tons of tchotchkes(how the heck to do you spell that?) and fake plants. I don’t mind the knick knacks and plants, but what I do mind is all the dust! Anywho, the service was really friendly(seems like a nice family owned place) but the food was pretty mediocre. I ordered the chicken fajitas and the chicken tasted fake. Not hippie fake meat, but fake like it came from Taco Bell. Everything else was fine, though. And trust me, I am no food snob. On a positive note, they do serve free chips and salsa!

This is a cute spot. Owned by a husband and wife team, it’s a great option for weekend evenings. The wife is the main cook. The dishes are solid, but check out the specials board for awesome, unique dishes. She tends to put the Mediterranean dishes on special. There are awesome selections there that you cannot find elsewhere! On weekend nights, the husband plays guitar. It’s no surprise that he played professionally… nighttime TV even! I’ll let you figure out where. ;) Depending on the night, you may get solo shows, 2 piece, or 3 piece! Anything from traditional Flamenco guitar to Led Zeppelin to the Beetles to Hawaiian inspired classics! Good food, good service, and great music!
