North Texas has experienced an explosion(of sorts) of craft brew companies. We thought it might be fun to try to visit all of the local brewers over the next couple of years. First up: 903 Brewers in Sherman, Texas. Sherman’s not quite local, but as DFW continues its growth march towards Oklahoma, it’s starting to feel more and more that way. From Plano, it’s an easy hour-ish drive which makes 903 Brewers a nice Saturday afternoon adventure. We doubted our Google map for a while on our way to the brewing facility as we passed through residential neighborhood after residential neighborhood. Finally, an old industrial park appeared and we knew we’d found the spot. 903 Brewers doesn’t really offer a factory tour. You can look at the brewing tanks and you can see the packaging operation, but otherwise it’s mostly about a hang-out joint. By the way, you can enter through the loading dock(like we did) or through a very unassuming door that you’re sure isn’t the right door but really is the way into the main hang-out space. Oh well. It didn’t seem to matter how you got there, as long as you got there. The interior is very cool and is packed with plenty of places to hang out with your friends — tables, chairs, board games and televisions showing the latest sporting event. The bar sits in front of a large wall of taps. They’ll let you sample(1 oz) and you can buy a half or full pint of anything you’d like. We quickly learned that 903 brews are really great mixed. While the base beer flavors are good, it’s fun to play alchemist and mix and match to build your own special drink. They’ve suggested several starters and will also do mixes on the fly. All in all, 903 Brewers is a fun visit. Next time I’d go with a group of friends and plan to spend 2 – 3 hours hanging out, enjoying an afternoon away from the madness of the metroplex. By the way, we’ve been able to find 903 beers at local stores, including Kroger, in the Dallas area. They don’t have all of the flavors but do stock the most popular.

Road trip to Sherman with a designated driver for this one, as you’ll want to sample as many of 903 beers as you can. I really enjoy the beer from this little brewery. The recipes are creative and unique. It is indeed a treat for your pallet. Most every beer person in the area has heard of, or tried, their coconut ale. It is certainly scrumptious, especially if you like coconut — which I do. I also really enjoyed the pecan porter and the chocolate milk stout. Even though I am not an IPA gal, their IPA«Sugar on Top» is surprisingly good. My boyfriend really dug it, and he loves his IPAs. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the beer at 903. Aside from good brews, the tap house is funky, and the brewer and his wife are extremely nice. I would like to come here and get rowdy, but I will need to find a driver or throw a tent up out back. If you are looking for something to do one day, I highly recommend a road trip up to Sherman to visit this brewery.

903 is one of the best 21 and over attractions in the Texoma area! It is a charming little brewery that makes some truly great IPAs and has great atmosphere to boot. All of the people that work there are really nice, knowledgeable about their craft, and you can tell that they love what they do! On many a Friday night you will find 903 to be a hopping place, with a band playing outside, people milling about, kids running around, and some even bring their dogs! It is as close to the atmosphere as a British pub as you will get around here, and it is well worth going to! Give it a try, you won’t regret it!

This brewery is an up and comer so they charge by the pour at their brewery. It’s a pretty cool setup inside the tap room with a really chill atmosphere. This brewery is «pet friendly» so we got to take our dog with us to hang out. My favorite beer here is their Chosen One Toasted Coconut Ale. It has an amazing aroma that is evenly matched with the taste. I accidentally burped in my hubby’s face and he didn’t even mind because this beer smells so good.(I wish I was kidding.) My next favorite is their stout, The Sasquatch. I have had this mixed with the Chosen One and it is really nice. They do not bottle yet, so you will have to find where they serve their beer on draught. I usually go to Craft and Growler, The Rustic, or Alamo Drafthouse to quench my thirst.

long drive from Fort Worth… but this brewery was still on my «to do» list when it comes to the local brewerys. not alot of people were here that day… no food truck. no live music. but i understand most important was the beer anyway. and i liked what they had to offer. i hope they grow and more people go there to make this place a hit.
