Wow! A delicious Kosher restaurant within walking distance. What a treat. My wife and I enjoy the food very much and we are both impressed with the friendly customer service. It’s great to feel at home, especially when you’re not at home. The desserts are something special. Try their unique take on apple strudel! You’ll love it. Something that you don’t find everywhere, if they have the ingredients, they will gladly make whatever you would like to eat to order. A great find, new for us but they’ve been around for 6 years. They close Friday around 3 and are closed on Saturday days, but after sundown they reopen.

Never EVER will I have a meal here again. This place is in desparate need of a proper manager. I was told to get up from my table and pick my own tea so it would be easier on the wait staff. Everyones shirts were filthy,(yes this matters to me when I am ordering food)…no one had any communication. A waitress came by our table 4 times and asked US where our bread was… How would we know? we waited well over 15 minutes for tea and coffee. The worst part? The BATHROOM. I know we are cramped for space in L.A.I have no problem with wierd locstions for bathrooms. but this one had not been cleaned… I don’t think EVER. I was horrified! There was pee all over the floor and the seat. the bowl was full as well. The floor was black and pee stained with tons of footprints fom the door to the toilet. poop all over the bowl, even on the outside! It had positively been there for a while. It made me wonder what the kitchen looked like! Told the staff about the condition, I was told that thay had a really rough day… it was 11:30 am… Yes, I have standards, too bad if this makes the owner mad. he needs to get it together. P. S. took another 15 minutes just to pay the bill that NOONE came to our table to get. The food? BELOW average. Overcooked, dried out and left my boyfriend with an upset stomach for hours.

We sat down only to wait for another fifteen minutes or so for them to take the order. Since it took a while, we asked to get coffee to go instead. The family behind us left at the same time when no one came to their table, even though the server was around, not taking anyone else’s orders. I was handed a burning hot coffee with no sleeve(had to ask for it?), and the Turkish coffee tasted burnt, which was disappointing.

I would not recommend this place, but they are kosher, so on a Saturday night if you are Jewish that is pretty much your only option around Sherman Oaks. The pizza was not appetizing and the Shakshuka definitely to avoid. The salmon burger seemed good but I did not personally try it. The dessert looked inviting but after the disappointing meal I did not want to try my luck.

We love the grilled salmon and steamed spinach which is made to order, we love the pizza and we were salivating at every salad that was coming out of the kitchen the night we were there. We couldn’t resist ordering the plump sweet potato fries though we knew we ‘d have to be walking the treadmill the very next morning. Everything is truly delicious. My friend is still craving the perfectly juicy grilled salmon and fresh iced mint tea. The carrot cake is super moist with the perfect amount of not-too-sweet frosting with a dusting of coconut. The big bonus is the owner, the servers and the cooks who always make you feel welcome and remember what you love to order so it’s practically waiting when you enter the door. The chunky iced triple espresso with lemon and a straw, morning wouldn’t be possible without it . Thank you all!

Would never go here again. My family met with some friends for breakfast on a Sunday and I felt so bad for suggesting this place. Reasons for bad experience: 1) Everyone in our table received their orders except me. 2) My friends received cold coffee. 3) My husband asked our server about my order 5 – 10 minutes after my husband and friends has received their food and they said they ran out of my item. What the heck! They didn’t inform me of this or bothered to ask me if I wanted something else. No one apologized for this. 4) Next my husband and our friend ordered the bagel and lox plate and it didn’t include cream cheese. So they had to ask for cream cheese. 5) We kept hearing from the staff and customers that they don’t have any eggs. How do you stay in business and not have eggs for breakfast when most of your breakfast menu is comprised of some form of omelette? I have no idea how this place stays in business with bad customer service and no planning of their food supplies.

30 dollars for a cup of coffee. You’ve got to be joking. I went in and ordered a cup of coffee this morning, and the girl said«it would be thirty dollars.» I thought she was joking but then she said, «I understand if you don’t want it, its kosher. Kosher coffee is very expensive, 30 dollars.» I told her to forget it, no coffee is worth 30 dollars, good luck with charging those kinds of prices and staying in business. Either she is smoking some extra stuff in her huka, or those are the going prices for some shitty coffee. All I wanted was a cup of coffee in the morning to start my day. I will tell everyone to avoid this place like the plague. Totally unbelievable!

Today was my first visit to Toast and I was extremely disappointed. I took a client here for a breakfast meeting after Blu Jam(down the street) was too crowded. We should have waited. 1) Our server wasn’t able to answer our questions about the menu(e.g. can you describe what this Israeli item is? Is it like a bread? She said, «no» and offered no further information. The conversation was comical.) 2) Our food(eggs) arrived cold. The coffee was lukewarm. 3) No one ever came back to our table to see if the food was okay(which it wasn’t). 4) We had to ask 3 times for our check, finally stopping someone who wasn’t even our server by semi-yelling. The two tables on either side of us complained to management, so I know it wasn’t just me. Honestly, I was embarrassed to have brought someone here. I will not be back.

Insanely overpriced– 2 not very big chai lattes, and a plate of hummus with burned, cardboard-ish pitta. $ 23. And the service wasn’t great. Uhhhh…never again.

I just had The most amazing salmon salad!!! I have to ordered it under cooked because that’s how I like it — grilled perfection. It was too expensive but it was really delicious. It has walnuts in it– which was unexpected good thing I’m not allergic! Again really delicious. And waitress and manager were super nice.

Went for breakfast, we are new to the area so we thought we’d try something that was walking distance. We ordered the bagel/lox plate, Eytans Omelette, and the continental breakfast. These plates were HUGE!!! And super tasty! We definitely had leftovers and skipped lunch. The best part are the Jerusalem bagels covered in sesame Oh, and they serve fresh juice! Not many too choose from from though.

5 stars for food and service! The employees were so friendly and the food YUM! The only thing i feel you should know is that your server is NOT going to get The tip you left for him. But, It is not effecting the service quality, trust me! The workers were running around while the place was packed, they were smiling and super nice to customers. 1 star for making me believe(how naïve) that the money i tipped my server is actually going to his own pocket. Please correct me if regular customers know of it

Great atmosphere. I got the smoked salmon wrap. It was good and the amount of smoked salmon in it was perfect but it was a bit too salty. They add capers so it is just a bit over the top as the smoked salmon by itself already had saltiness to it. The cappuccino was AMAZING! Will be back to try other dishes for sure.

Stopped in on my way to work to get a latte and I really wasn’t expecting much, but it was incredible! So smooth! The didn’t have non-fat milk so I got it with soymilk – yum! Side note: I noticed they had a loyalty/frequent coffee card, where you get a free coffee after a certain amount. I asked the barista/waitress to start me a card since I just purchased a latte and she said it was only for regular coffee… That seems a bit strange as espresso drinks are more expensive than coffee. Management, is this correct? Anyway, it was still absolutely delicious and I’ll be back for more.

I’ve tried their Egg White Wrap and the Roasted Veggies Pizza. The Wrap was okay, but it was packed really well! It was huge; I was only able to finish half. I do wish it had more seasoning or something because it was a bit bland. The Pizza was yummy; however, it took FOREVER to come out. Maybe 35 – 40 minutes? It’s not like the dough had to bake since it was on a tortilla. We were in a rush so if that dish took that long to come out, I wish they warned us ahead of time. The wrap came out in half the time… maybe it was just them and they forgot our order or something. This place is also a bit pricey… might give it another chance.

I came to Toast Café on a Sunday because their wait time is so much more reasonable than the surrounding brunch places in Sherman Oaks and Encino. They don’t have a typical breakfast or brunch menu. I saw some pictures of waffles on Unilocal but it’s not on their menu when we went. The vegetarian omelette I order was good. The salad that came with it was also delicious. What I enjoyed the most was their toasted bread. It’s quite unique and delicious. The star of the brunch though was the Israeli Shakshuka. It’s eggs in this amazingly delicious tomato sauce. You must get the option with hummus. They give you pita bread on the side. The best way to eat it is to stuff the egg, tomato sauce, and hummus into the the pita and eat it that way. I went to Toast Café 2 weeks ago and I’m still craving the shakshuka. I will definitely be back soon for that.
