This place is another Jerrys Deli. But in Sherman Oaks. I come here for the Matza ball soup. It’s the best. I think it tastes just a little bit better than Jerrys Deli Matza ball. Super delicious!

I’m not a fan of incredibly large menus, but I understand the selection. I tried their Ramen, tasting all of their other fun dishes I gave the ramen high hopes. To my dismay and disappointment it was absolutely terrible. It was flavorless and lacking in what gives Solley’s it’s flavor. Other than the ramen the customer service is horrid as well, there aren’t continuous waiters coming to ask you whether you were ready or not. And after 30 minutes I finally received my dish. The usual food is enjoyable, while the servers and the ramen are not. Even though I am giving this diner 3 stars, I would visit again. And must I say it sure is a shame that they had to be closed.

Someone brought in pastries to the office from here. I am sad to see them go so I am leaving a good review. Reportedly someone bout the place and is moving the tenants out. Newage pastry feudalism maybe? IDK. But the pastries are great. Aloha and good luck Solley.

Solley’s was never the same after the Jerry’s Deli acquisition in 1996. It’s more than fair to say that was the line of demarcation between«great neighborhood deli» and«commercialized corporate entity.» Still, though, Solley’s retained some of it’s soul — the aging customer base would loyally tend their matzah brie and chicken noodle soup while noshing on pickled vegetables as their middle-aged sons & daughters gazed at the dozen or so TVs in the vast warehouse of a space. The service, always slow but in a charming sense, did not improve with age — nor did the food. The pastrami, once luscious and piled high, became a bit drier as the pile became more of a short stack. The menu, always overwhelming with choices, became more hit & miss than«don’t miss out.» The bakery side did maintain its higher standard — the fresh rye and countertop-sliced meats, liver and wursts always carried strong flavor, if a commensurate steep price. Alas, Solley’s will soon be no more — soon to be taken over by a more modern, of-the-moment eatery that will no doubt be the flagship of a renovated slice of real estate in the Van Nuys/Sherman Oaks corridor — and many people will be saddened by the rent dispute-driven demise. Count me amongst the followers that will miss what Solley’s once was, but not what it is today. All good things come to an end, and Solley’s met it’s proper finish two decades ago.

i live very close to this restaurant and had not eaten here on the advice of friends . So what did i do Saturday night, thats right i ate there(i owned a deli in N. Y b4 moving to «the valley») This could be in my opinion one of the worst places to have a meal i had pastrami the king of deli sandwiches . how has been opened for so long since i am about to tell you this is by far the last time i will step foot in this place –discusting –man the prices on the items that are not kosher are way too much and the food is bad i travel to chatsworth to country deli which is all the way on west side of valley to get better deli and i am not so smart as i looked at ratings and was hard pressed to find more than 2 stars so i agree with most reviews time for new owners or have it become a different restaurant

Dolly’s has the best cream cheese I’ve tasted. One patron borrowed mustard from another and I jumped in with a fresh remark of «can I borrow your car?» One would think the connection was obvious… Patron said a serous«no» then proceeded to tell on me. This is the kid in the class that can’t take sarcasm. Perhaps his first language is not English, perhaps he’s unable to process the humor. Perhaps my joke wasn’t funny and all I have is my delicious bagel. The hosting service is terrible, but the cream cheese more than makes up for it.

This place WAS the spot to be years ago. The Passover meal was overpriced. However, we figured the portions would compliment the steep cost for the«special.» No. Just no. The food wasn’t great. In fact it was awful. The matzah ball soup wasn’t hot. My sister-in-laws turkey burger was dry and bland. She sent it back. Actually, we saw the few other tables in the place send their food back. And the service? Don’t get me started. It will take this place being the last restaurant on earth for us to return.

How on earth can you justify charging $ 4.95 for a small grapefruit juice(not even freshly squeezed)??? It’s preposterous. A $ 23.65 breakfast, which I could have gotten at McDonalds for 1⁄3 of the price. NEVERAGAIN! #overpriced #ripoff

Terrible customer service but great matzo soup. I always request it without chicken. Half the time they pull it out. The pickle tray is great. I love to get the bagel chips with a small side of cream cheese. Today an odd old man wouldnt stop staring at me while I ate pickles. Fun times

Good food, great customer service. Ordered a breakfast sandwich, a hot sauce would’ve topped it off, hence the 4-stars.

The food at Solley’s is always just ok. The pastrami sandwiches are always dry and have little flavor, you can tell that it is not made in house. Recently I had a tuna melt, which was good. However, they defaulted to putting American cheese on it versus a medium cheddar, jack cheese, or Swiss, which is pretty mind boggling to me. Breakfast is never anything special either. I guess this restaurant is good for convenience because of its location, but it is over priced and there are other alternatives in the area.

I have been ordering from Solley’s for over a year. While the matzo ball soup is great, service is TERRIBLE. I can’t imagine ordering anything easier from a to go menu at a deli, you scoop the soup in and that’s it. It is never ready on time whether I do pick up or delivery, they have messed up my delivery order twice leaving items out of my delivery and taking forever to bring it. But today was the icing on the cake. I ordered online and added the«Noodles Only Soup», just like I did last week, only last week they gave me only noodles in a cup, no broth, so I specified that I would like BROTH in the soup. When I came in, it wasn’t ready and the manager lectured me on why I can’t get noodles only with broth. He showed me their in store menu and I fail to see why this is something he needs to talk to me about. If their Eat24 menu is wrong it’s not of my doing… I have been ordering my soup at least 1 — 2x a week for the past 6 months and on principle I won’t be coming here again. It’s nonsense and it’s rude.

Amazing food! Their matzo ball soup is fantastic. Overall, a little pricey, but on par with their competitors. Ordered take out and arrived 25 minutes later… and our meal hadn’t been prepared yet, which was weird(and a tad disappointing) for a random Tuesday night. Would still go back to them for more deli food in a heartbeat.

Picked up my dinner and solleys forgot to include the matza ball in my matza ball soup. Called to let them know and the«manager» Louis basically called me a liar and told me to F off. Too bad you can’t give negative stars.

My tasty«LA Reuben sandwich» kept me going until the next day! The side coleslaw and fries were very good too. This dish comes with onion rings too which apparently are delicious… Next time! We had hot chocolates which were delicious but not hot enough. We consumed: LA Reuben Omelette Avo Ched Scrm Med Lamb burger(my friend pointed out he wouldn’t order it a second time) 2 Hot Choc 1 Heineken The bill came to 56.57 before tip. Ok that was fair, I enjoyed my food. The only critique I have that the waiter through the check on our table(without anyone of us asking for it) while we were still eating. That made me uncomfortable and rushed. Please don’t rush your customers while they are still eating and want to chill on their day off(in the day time) when you have plenty of free tables and no lines. I eat here again the menu was good and I live in the neighbourhood. Regarding service: «take it easy on your folks!»

How the mighty have fallen. Once a family-owned deli, now Solley’s is merely another Jerry’s vessel — overpriced and under-inspired. It’s not going to make you ill. I mean, it’s deli food, but my level of disappointment in the transformation over the past decade is why I ranked this establishment so low. In actuality, if I had never been here before, it’s probably more of a 3-star, but given the drop-off in quality from when it USED to be a 4-star to its current state as, basically, a chain deli, well, I’m just saddened. There aren’t a ton of other delis in the neighborhood, but if you can make the trek out to Northridge or into the city, I’d suggest it. Hey, parking is super easy, though. Giant lot for the massive shopping area. Classic LA valley.

I met my client here on a Monday morning. Solley’s is easy to find with plenty of parking. It’s a great place to meet because it’s right off the 101. Its menu is a jungle. It appears as though it’s trying to please too many palettes. It serves everything from Korean bibimpap to matzo ball soup. I ordered the chili cup, which was tasty, but runny. It’s really big-more like a bowl. Prices are on the high side. It has a bakery and a huge dining area.

Overpriced, waiter that vanished, and I was sick the whole next morning after eating the potato pancakes. I grew up in NY and normally love delis, but this one is one to skip.

Shabbat Shalom! Met the in laws for breakfast! I had a normal breakfast and my husband ordered the 4 layer Mexican omelette. That looked so delicious! We don’t come as often as when we lived in Sherman Oaks, buts its nice once in a while. My husband and his family have been coming to this place since the late 80’s, they have been around for a while and I think are way better than Jerry’s Deli.

Consistently good, but overpriced for most items. Brought to you by the same ownership group as Jerry’s, it has a similar 4 million item menu… but it might be even a little more pricey. I used to live nearby, so between the bakery(great) and for dining, it was one of my regular stops. Often, I would find an excuse to eat something small, just to have pickles, brought to your table when seated, and they are sooooo good. Most of you may already know, I love all things brisket, I even have a special list( ), but of course, I like roasts, short ribs, and many other tender meats(but hey, someone has to do this). So, when I revisited Solley’s last weekend to meet a friend, it was required of me to order the brisket sandwich… I’ve never ate it with Unilocal eyes, nose, and taste. They have 2 sizes for some of their sandwiches, LA and NY, aka«regular»(4 oz, $ 11.35) and large(7 oz, $ 15.25), respectively — so NY on rye it was. Well, this ain’t a true NY-sized sandwich. If it was, it would be massive and 4 – 5 inches tall. Picturesque, for sure( ), and while I did enjoy the hot brisket sandwich, it wasn’t nearly as large as it should be(in NY, I would eat ½ and take the other home). But, no home snackin’ in LA this time. Meat was super tender, lean, and sliced thin… rye was fresh… comes with a small cup of au jus, and choice of 2 sides: cole slaw and the potato salad, and both were excellent. Lower the prices 20−25%, and this would attract more positive Unilocal love. $ 13.95 for a bowl of Matzo Ball Soup(or my fav here, Sweet & Soup Soup) — is a nice sized portion, but too much dinero for a soup. Meanwhile, with regular and older clientele, nearby studio business and celebrities, they ain’t hurtin’ for customers — it’s always busy, but never too much to be seated. They have a small bar in the main room, with sports on TV’s, and the décor is Hollywood diner-ish. They also have a nice sized patio with 20 or so tables, and even though it’s a view of the parking lot(a pet peeve of mine), it’s still nice to get some sun on the bones on a nice afternoon. Service is a bit less attentive, so beware of this if you’re in a hurry.
